  1. I have been watching your build and really enjoy the lengths you go to for the chassis and interior details. The '48 Ford dash especially looks good .
  2. Hi Geoff, Your painting of the emblem is fine. The loss of the chrome detail between the red and white colors may be corrected a couple of ways. One way maybe to take a flat style toothpick and see if you can gently remove any paint from the raised trim. I share your issues with a steady hand anymore, but maybe a slight touch of a Molotow pen could be used on the trim. You have this little '57 looking great.
  3. The "color sanding" is done to get the smoothest finish possible. I also use the sanding pads that rob1957 has mentioned. His post came in as I was typing this. A couple of light finish coats of TS-80 Flat Clear should seal the decal on the hood surface and give you a finish very close to OEM. Decals just standout if applied over a flat painted surface, where as a gloss surface minimizes the decals appearance along the edge and sometimes if the painted surface has an orange peal type finish the decals remain visible even after being painted over with clear or even flat or semi-flat paint. I don't know exactly why I only know from experience in trying to do what you are looking at with this hood. I have seen builds here by others of this very kit , maybe one of them will see this and offer information as to how they did theirs. Please post your build, I would enjoy seeing how it turns out for you.

    '69 Olds 442

Great looking Olds. Very nice paint color and finish. Everything looks better with American 5 spoke wheels.
  5. I'll be following this one. The 1:1 Roadster would be hard to let go of if it were mine. I like how you're going about this one.
  6. That looks like the lost shipment of '56 Chevrolets . The 4 door 210 on top up front and a Bel Air 2 door on back. In the bottom the front car is a new model 4 door hardtop Bel Air followed by a Bel Air 4 door pillared sedan.
  7. That's about as clean as it gets. You might not standout in a crowd, but that's not always a bad thing. Give it the same care and maintenance as before and it should last a long time.
  8. From your description it sounds like you're doing everything right. My only addition to what everyone else is saying is to look at the carrier for the Bare Metal Foil after you have removed a strip of foil. What sort of mark are you leaving on the paper. Is the mark faint or like you're cutting masking tape ? This might give you an idea how much pressure you're using. One additional note and not having to do with the cutting. Next time your getting supplies pickup some of the Tamiya Qtips. They have two sizes and either would work, I use the larger ones. Using these for burnishing your foil will let you work the foil into the finest of trim detail and less chance of tearing the foil.
  9. I agree with you about hitting a woman. I have known a couple of "Ladies" that if they were a man they would be beaten within an inch of their miserable life and anyone who know all of the circumstances would agree. As a pro-boxer at any level his fists might be considered a deadly weapon in a court of law, we can hope. As mentioned before old Ted really had a "holier than thou" attitude toward everyone else. I also agree that she will need help, and I hope she gets it, toward recovering to any sense of a normal life.
  10. This is way Dicon was invented. They eat this stuff and it dehydrates their bodies so they don't even smell when they die. Don't use if you have any other cats or dogs around since they would suffer the same fate.
  11. I watched his show a few times, hard to watch based on his personality, he's really full of himself. If this is how he has been treating his wife she should have left him long ago. A battered woman's life isn't easy to say the least but sometimes you just have to get away somehow. This is one time I would like to see her "clean his clock" in Divorce Court. Leave him with nothing but that ugly thing growing on his face.
  12. Looks good, they sure had some colorful looking patrol cars.
  13. Well you have the interior dialed in and the wheels and tires look good. Sorry to hear the body and paint is still fighting you.
  14. Not that it matters but I would leave off the wing. At most maybe a small lip spoiler on the edge of the trunk lid. Your mock up with out the wing this really looks slick. Great job on the chassis.
  15. That's beyond a little rust. With this type of rot and this being a Unibody construction type vehicle you have to wonder what the suspension mounting points look like and the floors also. I will say someone has gotten their moneys worth out of this car since it is more than 50 years old.
  16. I like that they even precut the spark plug boots. Nice looking finishes on the drive and the cap.
  17. One question that comes to my mind is the final finish your are going for, mainly the hood wish is often done in a flat black. I prefer to clear over any decals myself. I know many others prefer not to but that choice is up to you. The reason I ask about the hood finish is that it will make a difference in how the decals look. Decals should be applied on the smoothest surface possible. Even a little orange peal in the color coat will leave the decal and its edges obvious. This is even more obvious if you're applying on a flat colored surface. The "340" hood decal that would go on the hood would look best if the hood was painted a high gloss black. Color sand and polish until it is as smooth as possible. Then apply your decal call out on the hood. Allow to dry and then spray it with a flat clear. You may want to try this on a scrap piece of plastic with a decal that you aren't going to use anyway.
  18. I like your aging process on the paint. The light blue now looks like an oxidized dark blue. What did you use to hold the salt in place at the start ?
  19. Great looking build. Nice smooth paint job. I like how you show a cleanly detailed area behind the grill and lower pan body panels. I have also enjoyed this kit and plan to build another soon.
  20. Beautiful looking '55. I like the Gasser flair. A lot of well thought out modifications that make this far more accurate looking.
  21. Great looking build. A lot of under hood detailing well done. The upper hose, who hasn't had that happen ? At least its the upper and not the lower hose. Very nice interior appointments
  22. Smart lady. With that same idea in mind the door hinges and handle on the driver's side may also show more signs of wear. Are you going to keep the right front fender spare mount or fill the fender ?
  23. Always enjoy seeing what different builders come up with for this kit.
  24. Fantastic to hear.

    '69 Ponies

Great idea displaying them together. Both of these look great and really gives someone a good idea of what they were side by side.
