  1. I agree with the way you treated this find. Who ever built it did a great job.
  2. I like how you setup the photo link for additional pictures. Considering the era that this build is set in this would be considered very understated. I agree with you on the appearance, this is a really great looking build. Great paint color and finish. The side stripes are just enough. Very cleanly detailed.
  3. A little dab of black on the radio face should make it look good. Limited visibility after assembly anyway.
  4. Great looking work on this conversion. In primer you would never know what all had been done. I like your idea of going a little further into the body to make your cuts, I can see where that would add a lot of much needed strength.
  5. You have made a great save here getting this back up on it's wheels & tires. I notice that the super charger looks to be mounted backwards. Looking at your front belt drives you'll notice that the snout for the super charger drive is mounted to the passenger side where the generator would be. Just spin the super charger around and switch the positions between the generator and the drive for the super charger. Are you able to find the exhaust manifolds in your stash ? .
  6. Now that's funny.
  7. Great looking build. I like your color combination on this. The Dash looks very realistic.
  8. I like the extent you're going to replicating the 1:1 truck.
  9. First off I love your 1:1 pickup. I like the direction your going with your build also. You mention wanting to go with a 6 Cylinder engine. My suggestion would be to look at the engine from one of the Galaxie kits. I'm building the '48 Aerosedan right now and the engine option has all of the period goodies from Wayne Speed Equipment. This would give you a 3 - singles Carb. setup in chrome intake and carbs. and air cleaners. Also a finned aluminum valve caver and push rod side plate also in chrome. Even built stock this is a very well detailed stove bolt including the oil filter, road draft tube, even the floor mounted starter switch.
  10. Those are good looking trim pieces. Looks like you have badges for the 427, 396. and 327 engines. The 325/396 was a pretty common option at that time for someone wanting a little, well OK, a lot more torque than the 327 had to offer.
  11. These are very handsome looking trucks. The bed sides are fiberglass so you would want to be very carful loading and unloading from the side. I notice some interesting cars parked behind the truck. The first one looks like a Porsche with a Ski Rack on the back. The next one is a beautiful looking early Cadillac extended sedan. Then a '46 thru '48 Ford tudoor sedan, then a '57 Plymouth maybe ?
  12. I'm surprised to hear about the problems that others have had with the Tamiya Putty. I normally use it for small corrections and body blending parts. A few years ago I built an '80's El Camino with the SS nose. I completely filled the license plate recess in the tail gate and you still would never know any work had been done on the tail gate at all. My only suggestion would be to primer the area to make sure it is smooth. This can sometimes require some additional filler, but the primer will show you any imperfections just like the rest of the body. When it's to your satisfaction just go to the final color coat.
  13. I can't say enough good things about the items I have gotten from him.
  14. I have used their normal dish soap with great results and no problems effecting the resin.
  15. Depending on how it flows this may give you a lot more control on small trim items. I noticed your post of some future builds. I'm sure you already know about the gold trim on the Fairlane's and the Bel Airs, but the '57 Chevy Black Widow model is of a 150 series and while the box end shows a gold on the hood that is incorrect. The gold was used only on the Bel Airs and all others were the normal chrome finish. Of course you can trim them anyway you wish but on a showroom type build this is just the way it was. This should also work well on the Oldsmobile's globe portion of the hood and trunk emblem. This portion was a low metallic and low gloss finish. Your two Flintstone resin kits are really well done, I look forward to when you build those.
  16. I can see at least one '32 Imperial build in my future. Maybe two with one all shot up.
  17. Thank you for the firewall info. I had suggested that the bottom of the windshield might have been the problem since I had had that happen on a few other models. The engine really looks good on this, I'm partial to Pontiacs anyway.
  18. That looks good. I was going to suggest this foil if you hadn't already tried it. You're correct about it being on the delicate side. The foil is also a little thicker I believe. On the trim for the '57 Chevrolet, especially the Bel Air lettering on the rear quarter panels, wings, I use Tamiya X-12 Gold Leaf paint. This foil is great for the gold trim on the side of the '57 Fords though.
  19. After looking at some of his builds and especially what he had to start with I'm really impressed with his work. Some are a little out there but he does them well also.
  20. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the July 2020 Round 2 new kit lists. The usual 1/64 die cast and some SIFY reissues. They're going to reissue one of the old MPC Crime Fighter '30's car with all the machine guns, two figures, and a violin case or two. A couple nice looking 1/12 die cast including a 340 Duster.
  21. Beautiful looking convertible. Great looking color combination and cleanly trimmed. I have one of these kits with the flat bottom boat in it. This might be the motivation to get it built.
  22. Beautiful looking little GTO. I enjoyed watching your build as you move along faster than I do sometimes. I remarked before about the paint and it's finish. The engine detailing really stands out. I like the way the rear tires fill the wheel wells.
  23. Great idea for the fish scales mask. I kind of liked the first design but this is good also.
  24. Very cleanly done. How are you going to handle the gold trim parts ?
  25. I'm liking the engine and front suspension.
