  1. Great looking paint job and I like the signage on the door. Would like to have seen the interior. I left the side glass out of one I built for that reason. The real wood bed is a good idea.
  2. Outstanding looking theme here. the detailing of the mobile kitchen and the food display is amazing. The model it's self is very well put together with an excellent paint and lettering job.
  3. The theme is based on a car I saw in a magazine. The modifications to the kit include creating the chrome trim on the body. The interior has had a tuck & roll treatment on the seats and door panels and the rear package try as well. I added a painted wood grain effect to the dash and window moldings. The engine is as in the kit but with fuel lines as well as plug wires and heater hoses added.
  4. I remember this after seeing the video. Beyond the obvious that it's a good thing no one got hurt, but this will be expensive all the same. From the video it looks as if when he let up on the throttle the car hit a small bump and the rear tires left the ground and he lost control when it came down. A shame they couldn't find a better venue for this, it probably cost him the car in my mind.
  5. Great job blending the custom body parts to the body smoothly. The paint color looks like some of the Metal Flake paint jobs of old. The roof you used always was a good custom show car style. Like so many others I also have built several of these shoe box Fords and they're a very rewarding build no matter what style you build.
  6. Very impressive looking door panels, especially for something that may go unnoticed by a casual observer.
  7. There were many Drag Cars and a few Street Rods built of of these cars even when new. This was a Unabody car and they would build a Tube Chassis and put a V-8 in the front as nature intended. Either way I like to see someone give this model some love. Slusher mentioned the engine size. The V-6 started as a 2.8 and was later expanded to 3.1 liter. They were both very good little motors.
  8. Beautiful looking paint, and I can see why your friends wanted you to put Taxi signage on it. This would stand out in any crowed in a good way. Love the stance on this also.
  9. Great looking commercial truck. Very cleanly built.
  10. Great looking paint work and the color looks good with the black hood stripes. The wheels you used, were they in the kit ?
  11. Great looking De Soto and they paint is real glossy. Elegant looking color combination.
  12. They all look great and the colors you used are sort of what you would expect for each car. I'm sorry to here of the lose of your Charger, that had to be hard to deal with.
  13. I'm very impressed with your paint finish and I think your interior carpet products look better than flocking. As Bugatti Fan mentioned, you painting style on the interior, engine, and chassis all look great.
  14. Very nice looking flames. I like how you did this and the pearl white body is a little unusual, but that's all the better anyway.
  15. The HL pricing issue I think has to do with how long the kit has been on the shelf. For some reason in our area the Revell '69 Camaro Z-28 with the blue car on the box has been a slow mover. I have found a few at different stores marked $21.95 and others at $29.95. Same exact kit. The only thing I can think of is that they didn't mark up the old in stock kits to match the price of the new stock. I picked up just about all I could with the 40 % coupon that were marked at $21.95 and used them for parts. This was before the pricing that is in effect now.
  16. To store nicely built kits I would suggest some sort of a box or display case to keep them from getting crushed. I save the boxes the kits come in and if I'm storing or moving them these are then stacked in moving boxes. Keep them wrapped in the paper towels you mentioned. I would think if they're rolling around lose they would get banged up real fast even if you're careful. The tighter they are packed in the larger moving boxes the less they move around and the less chance of damage. Decals can get damaged if the face of the decals are against the inside of a plastic bag for an extended period of time. You may have noticed that many kit manufactures have been putting the decal sheets in new kits with a smooth paper covering the face and these are often in side a sealed plastic bag. The key I think is to protect the face of the decals and of course keep them in as dry a climate as possible.
  17. Great looking Woody. The wood trim is very well done. I like the paint finish and the color.
  18. Did you tell them you wanted the interest on the 62 cents ? You know they would have charged you interest if it was the other way around.
  19. We left Sacramento in the summer of 1996 so we're out of touch as to what has happened there. Sorry to hear how the Bee has gone the way of so many other news sources. Now we're left with the Net and we all know how great that can and can't be as to what really is going on in our world.
  20. Once you get past the tong in cheek humor of the subject, and I also got a big smile out of it, this is really a great looking very cleanly built model. I would like to know what paint you used for the body. Love the flames along the sides.
  21. The local newspaper changed ownership a few years ago. We used to live in Sacramento and the local Kansas City Star was comparable to the Sacramento Bee that we had read for years. Under the new ownership of the Star it became a joke and we soon used it to replace the old Sears Catalog if you know what I mean. So we really don't have a newspaper around here anymore.
  22. All of your hard work and fabrication made a great looking model.
  23. One thing you might want to avoid is packing them in a way that any plastic bags come in contact with the model especially the paint work. Not always but often the chemical make up of some plastic bags and wrappings could interreact with some paints. Built kits I have wrapped in a paper towel and put them in the original box if you still have them. This should protect the finish and catch any small parts that might get knocked off the body. Store them in the basement is a good place but it could be better if you can get some pallets to store them on. I have used Moving Boxes from U-Haul to stack the kits in and card board being cardboard it can wick moisture from the floor. and the pallets will keep the air movement under the boxes.
  24. Great looking Camaro. I like the way you detailed the engine and chassis. I'm sure Motion Performance would have put 3 duces on one in the day for you.
  25. Beautiful looking build. Great paint work and trim.
