  1. I have a couple of pictures I posted before I finished. The interior is much as it would be from the factory. I removed the clock and radio since the CHP cars wouldn't have them. I used the 2 way radio from the '48 Ford kit. This should be close to what was used but there really isn't anyway to know but it looks correct to me. The two lights on the real package tray represent what they used at the time. The red and amber lights would alternate flashing when needed. I used the spot lights that are from the Galaxie '48 Chevrolet kit. The driver's side is red an d the passenger side is clear.
  2. This is coming along great. You mentioned filling the frame rails, and looking at them I'm questioning why I haven't done that before. Did you use putty or did you cut scraps of plastic to fill the frame ?
  3. I can't pull up the attachments, but that is what I was thinking. Thank you for the conformation on them being the same.
  4. I just posted an Oldsmobile that I built yesterday. The listing is under CHP Olds. This is my first PD build.
  5. While not up to Little Debbie standards, I picked up a Cinnamon Roll about the diameter of a Hub Cap and as deep as a Sponge Cake at Costco this weekend. I think it has the Cinnamon delete option but with extra Frosting.
  6. I get a hair cut about every 4 weeks and I should be getting it at half price since mother nature is taking care of the top. I was about due when we all started this shut down business. My barber thought she could open around the 4th and had me set to come in then. Got a call from the barber and since the state of Kansas is extending the shut down on barber shops she said she would call me whenever they let them open again. So if you see an old half bald guy with a mullite running around just wave and say hi.
  7. I agree about the sharp turn at the end of the rear of the cove. The only reason I mentioned it is that I have added trim moldings in this way and found it trying but doable. I have built one of these Corvette kits with the Coves being a separate part. While it's a little fiddly it adds to your ability to detail the body. You mention the opening. This area can be removed in advance of mounting the Cove piece and take great care of the chrome spears on the Cove. I'm not as brave as you I guess when it comes to chopping up a body like this.
  8. Great looking work truck. As others have mentioned and I agree, the added details that you created including the Rack it's self are what really stand out on this build. I enjoy studying all the little details and the rigging.
  9. Pretty major body surgery here. Is there any difference in the Grills between the '61 and '62 model year ? I think the general shape is the same, I'm thinking more about the Grill Bars or design. With the major issue being the side Cove moldings wouldn't it be easier to add the moldings with some Plastruct of the correct width ?
  10. The attention to all the fine details is really interesting to follow, and they look great.
  11. I think that the Camaro Z-28 kits for that year had the Crossfire induction system.
  12. I have made moldings using different sizes and shapes from Plastruct. I have been using Tamiya Extra Thin Cement for gluing and like you I'm not 100 % on it either. The problems I run into is that it dries very fast and I do best gluing a section at a time. I get just enough to hold it in place and then tape it down. I then move to the next section and repeat until I get the desired molding laid out. I'll go back over the moldings while still taped in place and lightly apply additional glue with the brush. After it cures in about an hour I'll remove the tape and treat those sections. A light sanding around the edges and a light coat of primer will show if any additional attention is needed.
  13. Very nice clean looking build. I like how you got the reflection on the table top in your pictures.
  14. Beautiful looking build. The paint looks like you could fall into it. Clean looking engine and chassis.
  15. I like the paint color and finish. Very clean looking build.
  16. Beautiful looking build, and the photography is befitting your build. I'm impressed with the paint work and the color of the interior. I also like this kit and the subject. Look forward to seeing more of your builds here.
  17. Thank you for your comments on this. In doing a little research on the CHP web sites I found that they did indeed use '49 Oldsmobiles and in this exact body style. They have an extensive picture gallery of cars that they have used from the 1930's thru today. I remember in the '60's they had Oldsmobiles and Mercurys at different times.
  18. A few Long Roofs from the past.
  19. '50 Olds CHP and '50 Merc Wagon
  20. "50 Oldsmobile California Highway Patrol Car. Built basically out of box with modifications to look like a patrol car from that era. The door decals are from Chimneyville Hobbies. The two way Radio was from the '48 Ford kit and the Spot Lights are from Galaxie '48 Chevrolet Aero Sedan kit. TT
  21. Vince already pointed that out to me. I guess I missed that you had stated the year on each of these lists. What I wanted to do is share with you the information about some of the earlier Promos that were offered is all.
  22. I'm looking forward to this build. Like you, the '40 De Lux is one of my favorites.
  23. Thanks, What I wanted Scott to know that they go back even further in what was offered. I may have not made myself plan enough on that and I'm sorry if anyone gets annoyed with me, I seem to have that effect sometimes.
  24. Hobby Lobby I think wants to reopen ASAP. The problem is the stores must adhere to the state and local mandates as to when and what type of store can open. As an example here the Kansas stores are unable to open as of yet, but the stores a couple of miles away in Missouri are open.
  25. I have a couple of AMT '76 Caprices with much the same trailer and extras. Thankfully they are done in White Plastic. The Trailers look identical. Makes you wonder if the AMT's might be a redo of the MPS kits.
