  1. My first commercial air travel was on a Trans World Airlines Constellation from L.A. to Chicago, it was some time ago.
  2. Beautiful looking SS. I also remember such a car in Marina Blue with White interior on the showroom floor when I was ordering a new '68 at model change over time. Almost bought the Blue one until I checked with my insurance man. The insurance payments would have been almost as much as the car payment.
  3. Great looking color combination, not what you would first think of with a 427 SS car, gives it more of a luxury car look.
  4. I like the modern driver theme. Many Poo poo'd this kit so your turnaround is a real standout. Great looking paint finish and the interior looks real nice also.
  5. Very clean looking build. Your teacher had good taste in color combinations. You said he had this Riv. and his wife had a green one also. Makes me think they used to pay teachers much better than they do now.
  6. Beautiful looking Impala. I think the final finish looks fine, but like you the Pearl Clear has a different finish. I wonder if you could get the extra shinny finish you're after if next time your final coat was just straight Clear.
  7. I like the Fuzzy Dice, I remember when that was often the first purchase to enhance your new ride. I don't recall ever seeing the Head Lamp wiring being done before, adds a lot of realism.
  8. You have given the interior a very natural appearance. By the reflections in the paint you can see just how well the body was prepped.
  9. Tamiya also offers XF-16 Flat Aluminum. I use the brush method but I think that it would be easy enough to thin and spray also.
  10. I'd love to have him follow us on a little Off-Road adventure. First air down the tires, next disconnect the front Sway Bar so the differential can articulate for traction over uneven surfaces. With his new and improved suspension I wonder just how steep of an angle he could cross before he turns "Turtle" ?
  11. Very realistic looking. I also like that you used the inline 6.
  12. You did do that.
  13. Beautiful looking build. You can see the extra detailing efforts on the mechanicals. A lot of paint variations on the exhaust system .
  14. Very nice clean looking build and I like the detailing in the engine compartment. Would like to see more pictures if you have them.
  15. Your build looks great. I like the engine transplant idea. I'll bet more than a few Tri-Five Chevys got engine transplants other than another Chevrolet engine.
  16. Going to look sharp.
  17. On the tires, I have been using Tamiya Flat Clear in almost all of my tires lately. One it will seal and protect the White sidewall, it doesn't seem to dry flat flat looking more like a freshly scrubbed tire. I like seeing the underside of the fenders painted white. Ya that was the was it was done. That used to be called "Sanitary" and even went inside to paint the clutch and brake pedal arms.
  18. Looks like an interesting find. I just finished a model of the BRE Racing Datsun 510 that was produced in 1978. I had very similar problems with the decals as you have mentioned. I suggest you check with the Model Building Q & A section here on the Forum. I remember seeing a discussion on how to restore older kit decals. I would try and find that discussion and see what everyone else has tried before you put what seems like irreplaceable decals in jeopardy.
  19. Your engine is really coming together. The wiring and plumbing look perfect. I like your resourcefulness of materials on the plug wire holders. You seldom see the plug wires routed correctly like you have done.
  20. Looks like far to much fun, not to mention the beautiful countryside.
  21. Another store to consider is JoAnns. They are mainly a fabric store, but they also have a large Jewelry section with lots of goodies and small tools that you can use.
  22. While the kits carburetor resembles a Holly carb. the float bowls are wrong for a double pumper. If you're going to have an air cleaner nobody is going to be able to see anyway and that goes for what ever they were thinking with the carb. openings also. The Orange plastic bit, I was at H.L. today and they had a shelf full of this kit. I turned the box over and over trying to read what all they had to say about the features and sure enough in small print on a side panel they mentioned that it was molded in Orange plastic. As for chrome parts they only other thing they might have done was the valve covers. The 1:1 had semi shinny polished aluminum valve covers so even if they had given you chrome covers it would have been wrong. All that aside it really depends on how you want it to look and what you're trying to represent with your build. I think your engine looks great so far.
  23. Was at H.L. today and the shelves are full all the way to the back of the self for everything they had. They may have gotten a big supply when all this started and I think that H.L. would have some major warehouse space around.
  24. I have to agree with you on the Pontiac Formula hood. I never understood what they were thinking with the T/A hood since it was sealed, and even if you opened the scoop it wasto far away from the windshield to get any effect like the Z-28 Camaros. The Formulas had the intake at the leading edge of the hood and would catch the air as it would start over the body.
  25. Great looking little pick up. They usually only looked that good on the day they were delivered.
