  1. Cool. I want to see this flame job. Did you free hand the design or did you use a mask ? I'm trying to work up the courage to do something like this.
  2. I'll have a few to show.
  3. Nice basis to work with. If you keep the vinyl roof you could have a little stuffing sticking out of a tear in the top. One headlight working and one not. Possibilities are endless.
  4. I think you Flames are in perfect proportion and the colors are dead on. I hope you bring this to the Hartland Nationals this weekend, I'd love to see this in person.

    1969 Coronet

You did a very nice job on the hood. I like the Day 2 style as that is what most people had to work with back then anyway, not everyone could afford a Super Bee or what ever. Just remove the Bee markings and present it as a Coronet with a lightly modified engine and some nice wheels and tires, it'll look great.
  6. I know that AMT issued a '69 Camaro Convertible that has been reissued several times, but I don't think the Up Top was in the box. A thought would be to use the Hard Top model body and add some seems and reshape the rear window a little and create your own. This could be made even easier if you never intended to display it with the top removed.
  7. My last 15 years in California, licensed there from '62 until we moved in '96, I only got one speeding and two equipment tickets. Kansas traffic officers seem obsessed with speeders and ignore almost every other driving offense in the book. They seem whiling to give someone up to a 5 mph over the limit before they go after someone, but Stop signs seem to be just a suggestion and if the Light hasn't been Red to long your good to go. Weaving around in your lane is just fine. On a 3 lane road the slower traffic and trucks are in the center lane for some reason and speeding up to cutoff some entering the highway is considered good form. Turn signals are used only to inform those around you of what you have just done and not to inform them of what are going to do. Also a driver is expected to change lanes to cutoff any vehicle overtaking them in the Fastlane with the option of just sitting in the Fastlane and maintain a speed at lease 10 to 20 mph slower than the posted speed limit. Some of the other unique regional driving experiences are seeing how much of a Green Light you can use up so that others can't get thru the intersection, this is most common on left turns with a Green Arrow only left turn. Cal, Take a deep breath and try and relax. Mentally redrive the behind the wheel experience of your test. Were you thinking of something else when you missed the Stop Sign ? Try not to put to much pressure on your self and do the things you know to do while driving and I think you'll be just fine. Wait until you get home to do the victory burnout.
  8. I have also been a fan of John's for a long time. I also would hate to see him get injured. I'm sur it would be hard for him to get out of the car, but there does come a time when it's better to live to tell about it than to have someone write your Obit.
  9. One thing about Kansas is all they really worry about is the revenue. I have lived here since the summer of '96 and only had to take the test the first time. Since then they just send me a notice and they take a fresh picture and collect the cash. I'm approaching 3/4's of a century into this life and they don't seem the least bit concerned as long as I have the renewal fee.
  10. I hope they can help your brother, but you may also want to get checked out if you haven't already. Sometimes the propensity for certain types of Cancer run in a family.
  11. I like the shape of the bed on this.
  12. You might check out Home Depot and Lowe's. They both have an Electrical Supply section and they offer many different sizes on a spool or even fore sale by the foot.
  13. Very Apocalyptic looks. It looks like it has seen a lot of action. Very well presented and the detailing is very convincing.
  14. Great build, it looks just like the movie car to me. The 1:1 car was such a good prop I never understood why they would destroy it so soon in the movie.
  15. Great looking very clean build. I like the color and the smooth finish.
  16. That looks like a great idea for a different type of build. I think the "Leaning Tower of Power" as the slant six was sometime called would be perfect also. I saw in the Resin Section on the Forum where someone was offering the parts for the Hyper Performance Slant Six and that or even a Blower or Turbo would be a good fit. Please post what ever you do with this.
  17. I use something different that may be a consideration if you think it would serve the same purpose. Bed Bath and Beyond has a Kitchen Tools section where I found a hard plastic like Cutting Mat. The original design is to be used as a Cutting Board in the kitchen much like the old wooden cutting boards. The edges are covered with a nonskid rubber and there is a drip try built in around the edges also. This is great for holding small parts and keeping knives from rolling off the board. The board will self repair to a point and can be used on either side. They are offered in several different sizes and I bet your wife even has a discount coupon laying around. I have been using mine for more than 10 years and I don't think I will ever have to replace it so it is durable in that respect.
  18. You might want to do something about your Front End Alignment on this. In addition to being hard to steer front tire wear would have to be an issue.
  19. Thank you for sharing. I always enjoy your Car Show pictures.

    Porsche 961

    Thanks for the info.
  21. Nice to see a Showroom type build on this era vehicle. Well built.

    Porsche 961

Looks great, you would never know the issues you had to look at the finished model. I'm wondering if you had any issues with the building of the kit besides what you mentioned ? I have two of these and have been considering building one and I don't usually build this type of model.
  23. Very clean well built Charger. The colors go together well and looks like something you would see when this was new.
  24. Life must be really hard for an Automobile in your part of the world. The "rusting" on these look real enough to be photos of real cars. I'm impressed with the Tool Box and Shop Manuals in the interior.
  25. As you mentioned, Garner was a very good driver in his own right. I don't know if you have ever seen the movie Grand Prix in which he plays a driver on the Europe tour. He attended several driving schools and became very accomplished in several different types of racing. He even competed in the Baja 1000 a few times. From everything I ever read about him he was a very principled person in his private life as well.
