Great looking conversion. The fender and body modifications look like the "kit" came that way. Excellent wood trim and paint.

I had never seen a '58 built with the custom front end before. That and the rear bumper treatment really change the look of the body. By removing the simulated side vents and the chrome hash marks on the rear fender you made the body seem lighter. Very nice custom.

Looks like the box art brought to life. Great paint and very cleanly detailed.
-
Very impressive, especially the engine. The rear "tunnel" under the body looks a little over the top, but then the whole build is a what if they had IMSA in 1955. The build looks very well thought out and something to be proud of.

Some very nice design elements. The body almost looks like it is sectioned. I like the flow of the rear bumpers as part of the body. The chassis looks perfect and well detailed.

Throwing in the towel. Need some advice

I'd box it all up and store it. I think that most of the people on the forum have been in your position in one way or another in their lives. For example you have a very nice paint booth that you would be lucky to get $50.00 for it. Your other tools would be even worse. At this point it is all a "sunk cost" in accountant speak. Should you store these items including the models and at a later date life changes you might be very surprised what the cost of these items would cost to replace years later. -
Very nice looking group. I like the colors you choose for each one.

Great looking build. Very clean and I like the "Minty Green" color.
-
Beautiful looking build. I followed your WIP on this and agree this kit offers some challenges in the fitment areas.

Great looking paint work. Good clean build and I like the different photography angles.

Very nice clean looking build. Some of the others have offered constructive ideas to consider for future builds. I think it's important to build a model with the level of detail you are comfortable with. Some times you may want to push that level a little further and other times it may not be that important to you. It can be fun to see just how exacting you can get, and sometimes you'll just driver your self crazy doing it. I think you should be proud of this build as is.

Could that be a Willis under all that putty ? What are you using to shape the body ?

361 V8 in Dodge L-700 kit: Same as car 361?
espo replied to ChrisBcritter's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think that in the 1:1 world that the 361 - 383 - 426 wedge & the 440 are based on the same basic block design and from the outside would be hard to tell apart from one another except for say manifolds and paint colors. You might try to find the most visually accurate looking Mopar engine and then paint it the correct color for the 361 in your Newport. -
The body and stance is perfect. The more I look at the little details were trim has been removed leaving mounting holes it just gets better and better. This would be the perfect place for a grimy Y block.

What did you see on the road today?
espo replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Love these cars, and this one especially. I had a new '72 Nova SS in Flame Orange, 350 4 - speed. Sold to order a '77 Camaro. -
Thanks for the info. I'll do that next time. The Sears saga just keeps getting better. After I recontacted Sears, since they wouldn't reply to my E-Mails or phone requests, I'm now informed that they cannot correct their mistake and I will have to return the Fuel Filter for a credit. With this information about Jack's and that the Deere tractors also use the Kohler engine I got a Deere filter at Home Depot for $17.50 instead of the $33.09 that Sears charges for the same thing. You know Home Depot is making a profit as they should, but Sears is out of their minds with their pricing and for a company that built their business for ever on Customer Service and competitive pricing it's a shame to see what they have become. No wonder they are imploding.

Very nice clean looking build. I never realized there was a stock hood in this kit, looks much better that the box art. I like the tutone paint.

Great color and the Red GT Stripes make a nice contrast.

Ya I've never had good luck bouncing one off the wall either, but sometimes the release is worth it.
-
I like the molded bumpers and the front splitter.

Hard to tell from the angle of this picture, but the rear window opening reminds me of the '61 Chevrolet 2 and four door sedans. They had a slight wraparound with the roof extending flat over the top edge of the rear window. The windshield looks very much like the '61 Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Buick models.

I picked one up a while ago. Going to try to build the car Benny Parsons won the '73 Championship in. He used a '72 Monte Carlo with DeWitt Trucking livery. #72 was painted a little darker red than Bobby Allison's car and of course some different decals. This is a very nice kit no matter which driver you build it for.

My wife has experienced the exact same problem and we haven't even moved. The problem as we have seen is the Human Resources Departments. These departments are filled with young resent collage grads with little or no understanding of what the job entails that they are supposed to find someone to fill. They will ask for and expect so many years of experience and education levels but if the applicant fulfills that requirement then they are to old in the Resources Departments mind. They will offer interviews to much younger inexperienced applicants, much like themselves, since they can't seem to relate to anyone that is qualified. In a couple of cases my wife had actually met her prospective supervisor at association meetings and they had asked for and gotten her resume. They said they wanted her but she had to go thru the Human Resources Department. When the supervisor asked the Resources Department later why my wife had not been called in for an interview they were told she didn't qualify. My wife is a licensed CPA who graduated at the top of her class at the University of California at Sacramento. She was awarded a Yellow Sash that indicates she graduated in the top 10% nationally. She sat for the test and passed all four parts at once with no "Life Lines" as they do now. And somehow she didn't qualify ? The person that would have been her supervisor has told her the person they hired is almost untrainable and would make a good entry level accountant let alone an assistant to the CFO and his eventual replacement. Don't think for a minute that they didn't look at her age either, that is a very big problem that isn't going away until companies start getting serious about who is doing their hiring.

The level of detail that the railroaders go too is unimaginable. As a child I had an American Flyer brand toy train. As nice as it was it was a toy compared to what we see here. I remember some sort of liquid I think that you could put down the stack and it would smoke a little. Besides the time and effort seen here he would have to have a fortune in this layout.
