I just checked all of the '57's I have and couldn't come up with anything, although I found an AMT '55 Street Machine issue that may work. I'm sure the bumpers are shaped differently at the mounting point on the bumper but I think with a little work they could be altered to fit. The kit is listed as #31931 and it has a red '55 Chevy on the box with a checkered area on the upper rear quarters. They may not be 100% what your looking for but I don't know of any other bumper guards out there.

Beautiful build, great job on the moldings. I like how you did the wheels. -
Since this a Round 2 reissue, thank you thank you, they may be using their reissue AMT Polyglass GT tires. The pad printed white walls look great. At one time in the past this kit was issued with a set of way to wide low profile tire like you would find on a late model Corvette. I have a couple still in the stash but this may be a future buy anyway. I have always liked this kit.

Very nice clean looking build. I agree with the others on the stripes. With the Cowl Induction Hood it's almost impossible to get the decals to lay down.

I can see why you received the award. The flames really look good. Excellent idea for the display stand. It's hard to show both the body and the undercarriage on the display table without taking room away from others.

I like the painted chrome look. I remember years ago when cars like this had pot metal for a lot of the trim and it usually didn't age well. The moldings would start pitting and get rusty and in some cases the chrome would even peal. Many would just use a little steel wool on the molding and repaint it with spray paint just like this. -
Very realistic looking. What type of material did you use ?

I like it so far, filled roof, louvered trunk and American Graffity rear fenders.
-
Very nice clean looking build. I liked the accent colors you used on the engine components. Very frustrating to have to redo the paint.
-
Great looking build. You can see that you spent a great deal of time with the extra detailing.

Great looking build. I know what you mean about building a model of cars you have owned. I have started doing the same thing, building one or two a year of different cars from the old days.

1999 Chevy Silverado

I like the color and the grill modifications really make the front end standout. The interior is colorful. -
I had asked about the price on this. Friday evening I was watching B-J on Velocity. They had Dave Kindigit their talking about the build and pointed out the many thing that the builder had done on both the truck and the A. This rig hammered at $125,000. I don't think in the real world unless your labor was free that this could be built for $125k.

I have to agree with the others, this build deserves more exposure. The paint, in addition to the color, is super smooth and you did a great job of tucking the rear bumper into the body. The rear wheels and tire fit in the wheel well like it should. You even got the AAR style exhaust going on. So don't be so bashful let us see some more.

SMP '58 Impala ala Larry Watson! Interior Done, Final Assembly!

I really like the color choice. In addition to the side pitch fork removal the way you changed the molding along the top of the fenders ending and not extending to the long body side moldings cleans up the look very well. -

Let me guess, that was his Buy It Now Price. You can ask what ever you want for something, but is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. With the condition of the box aside and the missing tires ? what is something like this really worth ? If your going to build it why not spend $20 to $30 and get a brand new reissue ? If your a collector because of the condition of the box and missing parts it couldn't be worth much more than that either. -

Just because he could doesn't mean he should. That was not one of Dodges best designs, but there is no question that it looked better before than after. -
Oh !! That explains the body question. I haven't followed Die Cast very much so I just didn't know about that body. It looks like something to consider in the future though.
-
Great painting. As others have pointed out the chrome looks perfect. More importantly you got the body and grill all done in the proper proportion to each other and that's hard to do. That is when two fools meet.

I haven't had any luck using it as such but many others swear by it , so get the old spoons out and give it a try. That reminds me of when Saturnight Live was really funny. Help Help Mister Bill. -

This looks like a modern day version of the old FC Jeep truck. I know that Jeep has been playing around with different ideas to bring out a Wrangler based pick up. It now looks like they are going with a more conventional Wrangler front end with a pick up box, but at one time they were considering another FC type body. -
Great close up of the trailer and bike. I just saw your pick up. They look great together.
-
Nice rusty build.. I like the trailer and bike idea.
-
I like how this turned out. My question is this an AMT body with the Revell Bad Man decals, or a Revell '55 Chevy tudoor that I was unaware of ?
-
This build is just as cool as it can be.
