  1. Thanks Nigel ! I don't normally do any polishing since BMF doesn't stick very well to polished paints . Well I spent two days on what normally would have been a one or two hour job but the foil is finally finished , I guess I'm getting the hang of this new stuff but I still don't like it . I masked and sprayed the front and rear window gaskets with Tamiya TS-82 Rubber Black , then applied a thin strip of foil for the reveal molding . Not perfect but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out .
  2. That's pretty cool ! Is it oils or acrylic paint and who made it ?
  3. Red and Orange Sharpies , much thinner and easier to control than paint . Along with your choice of chrome or silver on the back if needed .
  4. Beautifully done John , love that blue paint and I'd say you've got the whole foil thing figured out ! I've super detailed interiors & engines and I've done quick easy ones too , when finished the only difference is the photos that get posted .
  5. Absolutely nothing wrong with a nearly box stock build , you've done an excellent job !
  6. Whoa those louvers are nice , great work Jim !
  7. Excellent work on the conversion , really love seeing this kind of work !
  8. Nice step-by-step photos Craig , looking forward to seeing your progress !
  9. A '68 Impala is the grail for a ton of us , great score ! Not a big lowrider fan but I'll follow your build because all 68's look great !
  10. Thanks for the info , I know very little about MGB's so I'm sure a lot of what I do won't be technically correct . The color I'm shooting for is Bronze Yellow so I repainted this morning with Brilliant Orange and it looks a lot better to me .
  11. I've checked everywhere I know of but just in case I missed it . . . are there photo-etch 428 Cobra Jet emblems available ?
  12. Thanks Trevor and Carl , I thought that yellow would be a little darker . Haven't decided yet but I might respray it with Brilliant Orange .
  13. Before prepping the body for paint I pre-fit the trim items , bumpers , lights , etc . . . The grille and cowl vent required a little filing on the back edges to make them fit flush , as did the rear bumper . I also removed the molded in plate lamps from the rear bumper , opting to keep the ones on the license plate mounting bracket . This plate mount is actually too large for U.S. plates so I'll be making a new one later . Also cut and fit the glass using the clear sheet provided by C1 Models . They say to use the thick sheet but I used the thinner one to be sure there is no interference with the dashboard . With some careful trimming the glass literally pops into place and stays with no glue , of course I'll glue them in place after paint . After the body was prepped it was painted with Tamiya TS-34 Camel Yellow . Once it dries for a couple days I'll shoot some clear .
  14. Thanks Eric !
  15. That really is a sharp looking blue , going to look great when it's done ! Interesting solution to the BMF issue . I'm guessing that you brushed the thinned glue onto the body , then applied the foil and let it dry before trimming ? Looks like it worked !
  16. I've got a MPC J-Car and an IMC GT40 both waiting to be built . It's been many years but I remember the IMC J-Car being much better , is that right ? Been looking for one and may get the one on ebay right now .
  17. Great stuff Jim and your tires came out great , nice work ! The license plate idea is one that needs to be done , I'd take several sets !
  18. Looking sharp Gerald ! That white paint came out beautiful !
  19. Excellent work with all of your mods Rusty , raising the rear quarter is the best solution to this major complaint ! I agree that removing the wings from the bumpers make a much cleaner look , and the taillight mod is a simple no-brainer that makes a HUGE difference !
  20. Great displays Rex ! I spy a J-Car near the top of the left case . . . nice ! And a belated welcome to the Sunshine State !
  21. Thanks Ray , glad you like it ! It's not perfect but working so quickly I never expected it to be . Here's the finished interior .
  22. Thanks much guys ! Hoping to get the interior finished this coming week and post some pics , then I can start prepping the body for paint .
  23. Thanks Carl ! Started on the interior with some paint and embossing powder for the carpeting . There's a few small parts that need painting and I need to finish the dash and detail the sides . I made my own rub strips for the cargo area using flat stock and half round strip . They turned out better than I expected , should be interesting gluing them in place .
  24. For the last month I've been watching for a set and finally found some . The seller's listing was wrong saying they were Gold Lettered tires so I messaged him and he confirmed they were the Deluxe Champions . They were in my mailbox yesterday !
  25. Very nicely done , love the stance you've achieved ! Which El Camino kit has those wheels ?
