Dave B Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 A mate gave me a couple of old unbuilt 1/24th Airfix kits and being a Maserati fan I just had to have a go at the Bora. As there is no chrome in the kit the wheels came from the parts box (Tamiya Group A Sierra) but I used the kit tyres. As it had the ugly American bumpers I scratchbuilt some thin bumpers out of .040" syrene and painted them with Molotow Chrome. Painted in auto acrylic 'special burgundy' and clear coated. Have also got the BMW M1 so I might look at that next. Tks for looking. Dave B
SSNJim Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Very nice. I've got a couple of MPC and Airfix Boras in progress - they're tied for my absolute favorite car along with the Countach LP400. What paint did you use for the stainless steel roof section?
Hard_2_Handle_454 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Cool. Wish I could score cool finds like that.

Hi Jim, I have a fine metallic bright silver auto acrylic, I just used that. Dave B
Modelbuilder Mark Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Cool, my first Dream car, and to this day, I still dream of owning one.
Oldcarfan27 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 "My Maserati does 185. I lost my license, now I don't drive..." (Life's been good - Joe Walsh) This is the song I think of when I see this car, and the car I think of when I hear the song! Every time!!

When I karaoke this, I update to "...my Lamborghini does 255..." That came out nice! Almost everyone puts new wheels anyway, the BBS fit perfect. Nice bumper change too.

Bainford Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Cool Maserati. The wheel choice looks spot on. I never knew this kit existed, I might have to start looking...
Rich Chernosky Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Very nice build, Like the color combination and choice of wheels.
iamsuperdan Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Nice build! i have the Airfix M1 on the bench. It goes together well, and is reasonably accurate. Except for the wheels. And the overall stance needs to be adjusted. Both front and rear track are too narrow for the body, so spacers are a must.
ATHU Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Looks nice, great work!! I got my hands on the Matchbox(Revell) kit some time ago, looking forward to build it!
PatW Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Superb! I saw one recently in a local filling station with an old Ferrari both on their way to Silverstone just 5 miles from here, for a classic car race meeting.
zakdoggi Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Nice job. I too have an Airfix Bora waiting for its turn on the bench. Nice to see one done.
Phildaupho Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Very attractive Bora. The wheel choice is a very nice update. I built one many years ago alongside a Merak which essentially was a shorter wheelbase Bora with the same V6 used in the Citroen SM during the time Citroen owned Maserati.
spencer1984 Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Very nice, it's great to see one of these built!
Dave B Posted August 28, 2019 Author Posted August 28, 2019 Thanks all, comments appreciated!! Dave B
