modelcarcrazy Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 This is the AMT 40 Ford Coupe I rebuilt from an old box stock build from the 80’s. It wasn’t in bad shape, just boring and tired looking. I re-engineered the model to include the entire suspension from the AMT 1933 Ford street rod kit modified to fit the 40 frame and the wheels, tires, and brakes are from the Lindberg 38 Ford custom van. The engine was supplied by the Revell 32 Ford Speedwagon. I also used the seats, steering wheel, column and pedals from the Speedwagon. The shorty headers and mufflers came from the Revell Saleen Mustang added to some solder I bent up to use as exhaust pipes with some aluminum tips I made. I could go on for a while about the things I did to this one, but everyone is probably familiar with AMT 40 Fords-and can see for themselves. It was a fun one for sure. 1
mrm Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Fantastic Street Rod! I love the color combo! And just the right amount of chrome.
TarheelRick Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Excellent build, color selection fits it well. In the third picture down, the three-quarter rear view, it looks like the trunk area has been stretched; that would be a lot of work but it sure looks cool.
Koellefornia Kid Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 I really like this build! The AMT ´40 Ford was one of my first kits when I started modelling in the early 90s and I wish mine would have come out that nice! Beautiful color scheme, nice wheels and a cool engine!
shoopdog Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Very, very nice! The stance is perfect for it.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Outstanding!! Love the 2-tone color combo!
Bernard Kron Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 It's not often that we see the old AMT '40 Ford Coupe done this well, not just technically but also in terms of styling. The stance, rolling stock, colors and details all ring true to this more contemporary Street Rod look. Bravo!
larman Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Super nice! Great colors, wheels and stance. Nice detail on the motor too!
espo Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Beautiful looking '40. Great paint work and the chassis and engine switch really makes this model standout. A funny thing about your colors, which I really like. I Have this same model built in the '70's and the color combination is just a couple of shades off from yours. The paint jobs of the time were often done in this manor as the style of the day. Mine never looked this good however.
mredjr Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Great job!! I love the AMT 40 Fords I wonder how many have been built since 1963? I think that was the year it came out.
LouO Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Really nice, well planned / well executed. Great paint!
Bucky Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 That is one beautiful '40!! So well done! Way to go!!
David G. Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Excellent street rod, looks great from every angle. David G.
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Ya can't go wrong one of Henry's all time classic designs. I really like what you did with the undercarriage. This came out great! -RRR
Hmann68 Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Fantastic ‘40!! One of the nicest I’ve seen for sure. Nice ??
Phildaupho Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Definitely one of the nicest looking AMT 40 Ford Coupes I have seen. Great job!!
Dave Darby Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 While I'm not really a modern street rods kinda guy, I am very familiar with the AMT 40 Ford coupe and I can also appreciate good tasteful craftsmanship. I like it.
Zippi Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Just came across this thread during my research as I'm thinking about building my 40 Ford Coupe next. Very nicely done. Love the wheels & tires.
