Couldnt help but have mess around with a recently acquired kit.

D7E916f.jpg

Bought it for a lazy quick build (thats if I can restrain myself, by not getting carried away) with an idea already in mind.

Just a rough mock to check the ride height and see if the idea works for me.

Very surprised at the quality of the pre paint especially being black, few scuffs and marks, but overall pretty good.

Thought the mold lines would have been an issue, but thinking I can live them. Just needs a fine and finish compound polish, wax, some bmf and then build it up.

Theses kits are great slump busters…

I've been getting some bodies painted ahead of the impending cold weather while it's still nice, and in-between all the rain we've had in Michigan this summer. Dom's Charger is actually my next project and is painted Tamiya TS-14 Gloss Black. The AMT '68 Camaro is painted Model Master Nassau Blue and will have white stripes and a blue interior. The Revell '71 GTX is done in Model Master Sublime Green Lacquer, and I hope to order some black Road Runner stripes from Keith Marks for it later this year, and it will ride on either Magnum 500's, or Steelies and Dog Dish caps. The Revell '68 Charger R/T is painted Model Master Plum Crazy Lacquer, and will have white stripes and interior and sport Cragar's on the kit fronts and M/T Drag Radials from Fireball Modelworks in the rear. The Revell '68 Dart was just painted today in Tamiya TS-53 Deep Metallic Blue after changing my mind from Duplicolor Bahama Blue. I'm glad I did because that color really pops in the sun. It'll roll on some Weld Drag Star's and bigger rear tires. Still to be done are the AMT '67 Impala SS427, in Tamiya TS-87 Titanium Gold (If my local Hobby Shop has any when I go there Wednesday) with a black vinyl top, and Revell '69 Boss 302 in either Calypso Coral (Or as close as I can get mixing it myself) or Tamiya TS-94 Metallic Gray (Again if it's in stock).

LOL, Thanks! My spray finger and forearm are getting pretty sore from all the spraying though, lol.

This is something I probably need to be thinking about as well since I spray all my models outside.

Thanks Mike, I'm getting them clear-coated yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I'll have their shiny pics up maybe later tomorrow.

I finished disassembly of this glue bomb Challenger, which I started yesterday and had to step away from. I should call this one a GLUE bomb, as it was REALLY glued together and I had quite a time getting it apart. Remains to be seen how good the usual Snake-Fu can make it look. The body is currently swimming in Lake Purple to remove the sloppy chrome trim. The plan is to polish the nice metallic burnt orange plastic. We'll see what happens.

I finished decaling and clearing the last of the bodies I prepped for cold weather building. Now they'll sit in their boxes until it's their turn to get built. Ironically, my next project is the Revell 1969 Boss 302 that hasn't been painted yet because I am going to try to mix up a batch of Calypso Coral for it using some craft paints. First I have to finish Dom's Charger that I've been slowly working on during this painting process. I just finished wet-sanding and polishing it with Novus #2 yesterday, and put on a coat of wax and applied the BMF today.

Whoa Craig, they all look good but that black Charger is still the highlight for me.

Were they all painted with the Stynylrez primer I see on your bench??

I was hunting through my Falcon/Ranchero box to find the bits needed for my recently purchased four door wagon. I use Rancheros for their donor parts and always have some extra bodies. I was moving a couple of the bodies out of the way when all of a sudden this huge squirrel flashed across my eyes so fast that I think I am suffering from whiplash.

Here is the squirrel in an extremely rough, taped together idea. I kinda like it. Remove the extra set of door handles, fill in the extra door lines, level out the roof and rocker panels, and voila!  Xcab Ranchero!

Thanks Mike, the black Charger does have to be one of my best paint jobs. I actually used a variety of cheaper spray can primers for these as I took advantage of being able to spray outside. I don't remember which one I used for which car, but I used Rustoleum 2X White Primer, Brite Touch Gray Primer, and Touch N Tone Gray Primer. I used Rustoleum 2X Black Primer for the Black Charger. I have used the Stynylrez a lot in the past, and I really like it. I just bought a new white, gray, and black 3-pak last month and will use it throughout the winter months.

Now that's a pretty cool idea! I'll be watching for this one for sure.

Pulled the body out of Lake Purple. It took off all the trim paint and decals, and the flat black from the hood--silver chrome and flat black don't always come off but they did this time. The body looks almost pristine except for a couple glue boogers, which should sand off. Next step will be to scribe out the door and trunk lines, and then on to polishing it up. Beginning to have hope that this might come out pretty nice.

Well it looks great.  Funny, we spend big bucks on paint and sometimes the cheapest stuff comes out just as good or better.  I honestly think my best paint jobs have been Krylon rattle-can jobs.

I agree, I've done three paint jobs with Rustoleum 2X paints and all three turned out extremely well.

I have also been plugging away at this. Interior sheet metal will be the light blue with tan or gray upholstery and door cards.

After a night at the bench and a Zoom tie in with Sam I Am, I was able to get a vision for this old body and chassis from a parts box. I filled in the top of the windshield/ front of the roof that had been hacked off. I also extended the chassis to make the rear axle sit where it needed to for the rear tires to fit the wheel arches.

Does anyone know what kit the flame decals are from?

This would make a great little extended cab or add a little sheet plastic and make a crew cab ?

Bought this one a few years back along with a black one at a thrift store.  Peeling the decals wasn't too bad but getting the glue was a pain in the shorts.  Needs polishing and making a team bus logo....and some detailing
