BeakDoc Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 I pulled this one out of the stash looking to build something fun and not so serious. A whole lot more fabrication and re-engineering was required than I had imagined. Just a gnarly, ill-fitting, warped, blobulous mess of a kit. I lowered the overall ride. I moved the inner fenders inward to provide some clearance for the front tires. I smoothed out the bumpers by removing the guards then color matched them to the body. The paint is a Nissan color from ScaleFinishes, KAC Titanium with Wet Look clear. The rims are Pegasus and tires are Goodyear bigs and little from the parts box. Overall, I’m happy with the finished product. I swear I didn’t feed it after midnight! Thanks for looking. Comments, questions, tips, pointers or critiques are always welcome.
Steve H Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 Hi Chris, very nice job. I am about to start a similar build on one of these. When they are lowered, it improves the look of the car dramatically. When built stock, they are a bit on the ugly side.... just my opinion. Well done on yours! Cheers, Steve
Spottedlaurel Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 Great to see some thought and attention being given to a kit like this, I think your efforts have paid-off really well.
espo Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 I never realized just how good the Gremlin could look. I like the lack of chrome trim on this and the well detailed engine.
doorsovdoon Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 Very nicely done, not an easy car to un-uglyfy! I like the colour coded bumpers and those wheels look just right.
Steamboat Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 Nicely done. I like the monochromatic look.
Oldcarfan27 Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 I like the way the air cleaner emphasizes the belly of the gremlin. Very nice build.
slusher Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Sweet Gremlin, great color and finish. Nice touch with the Gremlin decal....
Jonathan Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Nice work on a challenging kit. Looks great!
e30lover Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Love the subdued color and engine detail work!
Tom Geiger Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Very cool build! I just grabbed two of these at Ollie’s today. I guess I’m in for some frustration! ?

I owned a 73 back in the day. I plan to buy a '72 from Flintstone's to replicate it. Haven't figured out how I'll do the decals yet.
mustang1989 Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 Overall look and stance are to be admired. Very good work on a car that's often left almost completely out of the history books.
