Rockford
Maybe because it's such an iconic car we expect the kit to equal our admiration for the actual vehicle? It's been my first love for decades. I've only ever built the Revell snapper '57 although I've got about six Tri Chevy kits including the 1/12 Revell Bel Air. junkyardjeff
Its been 40 years since I last built that kit and it was not too bad, even though my skills have improved I do not think I would try a older Revell 57 kit and a newer version if they are the same. 1959scudetto
I built the 1979 matchbox/amt version of this kit in 1984, and I think it came out not too bad:

Tabbysdaddy
I pulled my '57 off the shelf and opened the box to take a look, then realized mine is a Revell.

I haven't built a 1957 Chevrolet either, and I have been considering this kit. So there are a couple of us out there. I did an AMT 1955 Bel Air back in October 2019, though. NOBLNG
So...since this thread is about lousy ‘57s, how does this old kit compare accuracy wise? I searched this site via google and could not find pics of a built one. I gathered that the doors don’t fit proper or are finicky, and the plastic is brittle. One member said he built a few and had no issues with it. Edited April 29, 2021 by NOBLNG

I have built one in the '80s - it was called "Street fighter" it had quite a few issues (IIRC, it could not be built stock, but only as a street rod/lowrider) - here was my built-up:

junkyardjeff
I built the Revell 57 Nomad in the late 70s and when I started to rebuild it the plastic got brittle so I ended up using it for parts, even the frame broke.

By '69, it was available in just about everything. And what I said is that the "double hump" heads first appeared in 1962...not the 350 engine. Double-humpers were available on later 350 engines as well. "Double hump" heads are commonly called "fuel injection" heads by a lot of folks because they were on the 360 and 375HP 327 engines, but they came on many non-FI engines too. They also come with 2 different casting marks (tall and short), several different casting numbers and part numbers, with and without accessory bolt holes, and with either 1.94 or 2.02 inch intake valves, and either 1.5 0r 1.6 exhaust valves. All the chambers are similar, 62 or 64cc, but in addition to valve sizes, there are some porting differences that can influence power output. Any questions? TY for the Correction Ace Car Guy . I mixed that up with the 302 . Direct SBC Trick from the Hot Rodder's Bag of Tricks . 327 Block , 283 Crank . Fed Smofg Emmissions required a Smog Pump for the 302 and 307 Mills . Chevy kit looks reasonably good and I would be really happy if a similar kit had been made from the '58 - 59 Rambler. The '57 Rebel is a lost child too . I agree with the Independents are ignored . Economics 1 . What would the Kit Makers maximize Profits from. This is what is produced . Okey has some WIP's in Resin Ramblers . The Master is being derived from a JoHan '59 Kit . Since then, I’ve been wanting to have another crack at it. Now I do.

CabDriver
Received mine today. Firstly the box was crushed: Secondly the car on the box is blue: And the car inside it is mint green: Now I have to buy paint, and none of the pieces are attached to each other. Overall, 2/10, lousy kit, wouldn’t buy again 👎🏻 (😂🤪😂🤪😂🤪😂🤪)
