Tabbysdaddy Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 I didn't know there was a 77/78 Coupe De Ville. I must have one.
1930fordpickup Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 That is a nice Hall Tom. Did you put your wallet in the freezer to cool it off, when you got home? 1

Straightliner59 Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 I went to a contest in a hobby shop, today. I brought home a new cutting mat, 2 pieces of 1/32" brass tubing, 2 of 3/64" brass tubing, some Alclad white aluminum and pale burnt metal, a new bottle of Micro Set and a bottle of blue Vallejo wash. There were over 200 entries in the contest. I was happy to bring home a Top 10 award and the one for Best Work In Progress! 3

Ace-Garageguy Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 (edited) Couple more recent acquisitions, mostly inspired by builds on this and other forums: A pair of very old 1/24 Strombecker front-engined Scarab shells, one tooled as a slotcar hard-body, one tooled as a battery-powered toy, both based on the same master, in the same box, below. Much scratchbashing required to make nice models from these, but there's no shortage of reference material available, and the real cars still exist. Coupla cool things about front-engined Scarabs: 2 were powered by Hilborn-injected smallblock Chevys, and ran Halibrand QC rear ends...unusual in road-racing...with DeDion rear suspension and inboard rear brakes using Mercury drums. Definitely a hot-rodder's road-racer. 1/24 Protar Mercedes W196. Kit is only curbside, has some glaring scaling and proportion errors, but with some hacking and addition of Revell 300SLR guts, should make a beautiful piece An excellent Johan '61 Dodge Phoenix body shell for an ongoing long-term project (to replace a badly warped resin shell that I might be able to save), below. EDIT: It was my own stupidity, not paying attention, and not thinking that caused the warpage of a very nice resin body I acquired several years ago. Point being, I'm not immune to doing dumb stuff for one reason or another, but I try not to make it a lifestyle, and I most definitely don't see it as something to be proud of or to defend by making excuses. And a very old 1/24 Revell Porsche RS-60 slotcar body shell; this fills the last gap in competition Porsches I'm really interested in, and with some scratchbashing using Fujimi parts should make another beautiful model. Intersting finds, Bill - especially the Porsche and the Scarab (is this also 1/24 scale?)

Yes, the Porsche and both the Scarab shells are 1/24. There's a thread on this forum of a good looking curbside built from one of the Scarab shells, which prompted me to find one. 1

OldNYJim Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Another one for my Atlantis collection… I’m caught up with all their 1/24th and 1/25th kits now - got a few of the 1/32nd that I want to pick up and then the next thing I’m excited for is their Midget release…gonna need a bunch of those I think…plus the Tom Daniel Sidewinder and Poison Pinto re-pops.
PatW Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 A 1979 Matchbox AMT VW Golf.. As it has side panels in the kit to make a Delivery Van, I'm most likely to go that way. 4

Bill Eh? Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Yesterday, I arrived home from the NNL East. What a great time. On the way to the NNL, a stop was made at Hobby Lobby in Scranton. I bought the Revell Range Rover, some Createx Balancing Clear, and some Iwata replacement parts for my Eclipse. At the NNL, the first stop was at C 1, where I bought three trans kits. Also at the NNL, I bought the Monogram Porsche 904, the Revell '56 Chevy and some MCG photo etch saw blades. On the return trip home, we just had to stop at Ollie's in Watertown, where I bought the Monogram Lamborghini Diablo. 6

DPNM Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Nice score on the models Bill. Good to see you picked up a few AB parts too.

A friend found a lady cleaning property out and she had a box of models for $45 so I agreed to meet and purchase them unseen hoping I might find something worth the trip. Here is exactly what was in that box!! Crazy thing is she was gonna throw them in the trash and decided to list them. I have already traded the Grand prix, chrysler 300 and gto screw bottoms. You traded away the best stuff!!! ? Steve 1
TransAmMike Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 Got my Tx3D 572 engine today. Clean, nice detail and pretty quick delivery. Thanks Charles.

Hi Jim, the Iwata parts are what I call "recovery" parts for my HP-CS Eclipse. At some point, I took out the 0.35 mm set up and did the 0.5 mm conversion. After taking out the original parts I put them in a safe place. The kind of safe place where I have no idea where they are. These are two of the items I need to put it back to spec. I still need to get the 0.35 nozzle cap to complete it. LOL It was cheaper to buy these two parts at Hobby Lobby than to order them from Maple Airbrush. 1
