I think I've turned into the '62 Chrysler version of our friend Cobraman:

867132423_62chryslertan6.jpg.a23e84aeb62c06cd9f28248d8fc79cb9.jpg

So I spot this thing on eBay last night - original issue with correct interior, wide whitewalls, wire axles and chassis screws; minus the hood, opening bid $35 - and add it to my watch list to see how the bids go. This morning in my email I get one of those "private offers" for 42% off, in other words cheeeeep; and, well...

The original builder got a bit sticky-fingered installing the left skirt :

So anyway, I swear this is the last '62 Chrysler - Revell, Jo-Han, or even Atlantis (?) - I'm buying.

Don't tell me that! Mine is still in the box...unbuilt. ??

Seriously though,  isn't that a beautiful mold. I drool over mine every couple of years....when I think I know how I want to build it....then chicken out.

I missed another complete kit on ebay about three weeks ago that was available for $70. No sooner did i mention it to someone during a phone conversation, the listing was pulled.

I scour Johan listings daily. Good deals are to be found regularly. You just have to be diligent. :)

Me too - got the above '55 and the '65 Fairlane today on special at HL, plus I picked up this little tray box:

IMG_0284.JPG.bea4c7ca917b4905151f04619a01b46a.JPG

The smaller compartments in the top tray are about 1 5/16" x 2 3/4" x 5/8" deep, perfect for pouring molds for small parts. The left compartment is about double that width; plenty of room for a set of wheelcovers. The bottom compartments are about 1 1/2" x 4" by 1 1/2 deep, enough for bumper/grille molds; only $3-something with the coupon.:)

Got these over the weekend. I'm pretty excited about the Indy car stuff. The 1987 500 was the first race I ever saw and as a kid I loved the Corvette pace car. At the time my brother and I refered to them as the A-Team car. In 88 at the 500 qualifying I met Danny Sullivan, who drove the Miller car so of course he was my favorite for a while. Those are gonna be fun to build.

Nice haul.

Just got these two from another FB Marketplace deal. Both complete and unstarted for a good price. Also got my Ramblur and my 69 AMX rebuilder. 5 kits in one day!

Just received a fresh case of clear model cases for 1/25, 1/24 scale model cars.

In case anyone is interested, you can get a case, (12) of these for just under $85.00 with free shipping if you order directly from the manufacturer.
That comes to a few pennies over $7.00 each.
Much cheaper than the usual $12.00 to $15.00 each that one usually pays for a case this size, not to mention any added shipping costs.

Some great stuff everyone's getting there!

I got this pair last night from the depths of my own stash, why buy them off eBay when I have my own?!

IMG_3270.JPG.35a2ae80d95b643a8732704a42c37b03.JPG

Both from the mid '80s - I've been using the box from the Lotus ever since then to hold random stuff, visible here on the left. It just needs a clean-up, light polish and reattachment of a few pieces. The brush-painted Humbrol looks OK, to me at least. AMT GTO needs a bit more work, I didn't prime it when I applied the automotive rattle can paintjob so it really needs a stripdown and restoration. Also, I opened-up the rear arches for the big slicks so I need to think how to incorporate that into the final look - I bet @Snake45 would have some ideas ? Have since found the original engine, I wasn't sure if I'd work out which one it was but the hole through the block for the axle was the giveaway.....

IMG_3230.JPG.c80a34c305ad9ae082d50756d2579ca7.JPG

Also got this lot for a 1/4-mile oval racing project.

And this pair. Silvia will make a good companion to the recently-completed Datsun Roadster (they use a similar chassis). Skyline is the only modern kit I have where the front wings are separate pieces, I presume that's so they can spin-off different versions. I was keen to get one as I have a long run of 4-door Skylines.

Do you have a link for the manufacturer? I'd be up for getting a case. I already have a need for 3.

The name of the company is Pioneer Plastics.

The link.                                                                            www.piomeerplastics.com/product-category/display-case/diecast-display-case/

The item pictured above is, "1/24th Scale Diecast Case-094C".

Most small, midsize and large 1/25th models will fit, with the exception of some really large cars, like some Caddys, Lincolns or Imperials.

The only one that I have to date that wouldn't fit is an SMP 1960 Chrysler Imperial.

I have several of the "CD" (mirrored botom) cases and they are very nice. In last year's reset, HL had them marked down to less than $4, so I stocked up. I have four of their 1/64th scale big rig cases on my desk at work. You can put 10-12 1/64th scale cars sideways in each one.

I will definitely order a case the next time I need some.

I have been thinking of one of those for awhile. I can swallow the high cost but what's holding me back is I'm not sure I have the ability to do it justice. I hope you do a WIP here on it. I would love to see it.

If you live near a Hobby Lobby(like I do) you can get them even cheaper than that with the 40% coupon. The 1/24 size are about $4.80, and I use a lot of the 1/32 size, that will hold smaller cars(Mustang, Camaro, etc.)are about $4.20. Of course, you can only get them one at a time that way, but when you're 5 minuets from HL it isn't a big deal.

I have seen your work and this is nothing for you. It’s just a super detailed cobra kit. My holy grail kit that I have wanted for awhile. The kit has the options for most 427 cobras. The wheels have starburst wheels or halibrands. Going to try to make it a early street car. Starbursts , no roll bar and rear exhausts. But things can change. Pic of the tire and wheels My friend Mark had a mfh fire sale. $500 for all 1/12 kits. He has over $15,000 in mfh kits alone. So in just a few hours he sold half of the kits. I believe he has sold all of them. Chris Smith picked up a Porsche 917k. Pick one up, you will not be disappointed

I was just at my closest HL and I am not sure what is going on with their cases This is what is currently on the shelf, along with a very few of the older style. "Entrust Collecting" purports to be in OK City, so maybe HL has launched their own label. Didn't see any mirrored bottom cases.

One of the other stores had all of their cases together, like the big wood and glass ones plus the model-sized ones.
