Sound like quite a project you got going there. Hope it works out for you. Never thought of looking at it that way, hmmmm! Wasn't going towards prostreet, just trying to get a bit bigger tire under it. But you are definitely right! Thanks Gilles

Rooster, Thanks for checking out the build. Not sure which tool you are talking about so here is a picture of the tool's used for this modification.

Working at the rear of the car, the rear differential is something I think will get changed. What I don't like about it, Is it's scale size. Looks way too small to my eyes. I got the rear end out of the '66 nova ss kit i'm using for this bash and it look's allmost too big. Feeling I had nothing to lose, I went ahead and installed the '66 rear end. At this point I'm not sure whats going to happen here yet. Might have to come up with another rear end to try, I don't know. In this photo you can see the two rear ends next to each other and see the size difference. The '66 is on the right. On to the nextpart I would like to change out, And that is the rear tires. The slicks that come in the gasser kit are nice and all, but I want a little more rubber on the road or race track. My search led me to the revell 1968 dodge dart hemi kit. The MH Racemasters will work. But they are going to need more room than the existing wheelwell is providing. So on to the planning stage to see what it will take to make this happen. Came up with no solid plan. Only a "That might work". So the plan is to cut out the wheelwells and remove part of the floor. And do it in a way that it looks like it never happened and it came that way. I figured the best thing is to just start cutting and see where it leads itself. Some tape was layed down to show the line that first cuts needed to be. First using a scribing tool, a starting line was made. Then a tamiya scriber was used to make a nice line that the saw will follow. Worked awsome. The remaining cuts are all up to the guy with the saw. Can only have straight lines. This all has to go back together and look like.....We'll see. Here's the tires being used.................. Now that it's cut up, I need do some cleanup work and plan the next stage. Thanks for looking.............................

71 Olds 442 W30 (replica of my brother in law’s car)
Speedpro replied to Steve H's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Its always a pleasure watching your builds. Your lucky to have access to such a beautiful car. I am a retired classic car technician and had the opportunity to restore a couple of these W30's in my day. The engine is looking good so far. Will be following you on this one to see how it comes along. Paul -
Thats alot of work you put into that front end! But you pulled it off and your efforts really show because it looks awsome. Will get even better when paint hits it! Looking forward to seeing more.

looking good! Too bad you had to paint it twice. Second time is always better in most cases and that's what you got here. Clean looking build so far!
-
Really nice looking vette! The paint is very smooth and the engine details are spot on.

Bentley Blower4.5 liter Les Mans 1930.....Kit Airfix 1/12 scale
Speedpro replied to louis Carabott's topic in Model Cars
Outstanding! Just when you think you have seen everything, there's more. Alot of effort went into this build. -
Beautiful build! So much detail to take in. Don't see many vette's on here built to this level.
-
Thats a couple good looking builds!

Thanks everyone for the comments and following along.......... While getting the headers to fit, I liked what I was seeing, but felt the engine just sat too far forward. Need to get it tighter to the firewall. Being that the sub frame is in all respect ready for paint, It was not an option to move any mounts. Instead the slot on the block where the mount meets was elongated and the trans slightly modified to fit in it's mount. I think it's perfect now. While I was working with the engine, the valve covers got smoothed to give them a cleaner look. Some more chassis work is next. Seems the tires that where chosenfor the rear just don't want to fit right. We'll see about that! Thanks for looking Speedpro

Thanks Kevin, I used a 0.078 piece of scrap exhaust pipe from a 29' roadster. The header it self is 0.075 so it's a good fit.

Time to get this build up and going again. Been awhile since I had this in front of me so it's taking a few to get reacquainted with it. When I left off, I was working on getting an engine figured out and fit. Decided to go with a big block chevy. Found the engine from the Max Rat pro street chevelle might be a good fit. Just a little work to the motor mounts and drill a new hole for the trans and it seems to fit rather well. For the exhaust, The Fenderwell pipes from the gasser kit was the choice but are going to take some work to get them to fit the big block as they are for a small bock chevy. Too different animals. But I'll make them work. After spending a couple hours cleaning them up, they are ready to fit as needed. Had to rebend the pipes for the center ports. Not to difficult. But found they could use some length for a better fit around the chassis. Small pieces were added to the ends of each pipe. After cleaning everything up, found the fit to be much better. I'm not done messing around with the chassis, so will build the rest of the exhaust at a later date. More to come and thanks for looking, Speedpro

A couple months back this project was shipped to kalispell Montana to have what was a quick paint job to help out a friend. I get this build out of the box and am taken in by whats in front of me. What was going to be a simple paint job turned into much, much more. I always love a challenge and this was sure not going to disappoint me. I'm not going to go into full detail of what all was done, But will recount some of the repairing, changing, adding, detailing and painting that took place while in my possession....................................... This is what I started with, Broken frame and body. Took inventory and started in. After some fitting and fine tuning things, it was time for some primer. At this point the color that was chosen was applied. After spending some time working with the paint and other details it was decided this color was not working on this 33'. So the paint was removed and it was back to point C. Another color was decided on and the car was again prepared for paint. And as you can see, It's not only the body but also the frame and other parts that needed a redo Did some work on the interior bucket adding door sill on top of the bucket so as it will line up with the window opening. another big task was to fill in the aprons so they fit around the frame in a nice smooth manner. At the same time the grill was lade back and aprons extended to meet the grill shell. Also carved out the body to accept a pitman arm. Just a cool touch. Lastly, The grill recieved a photo etched insert and the cowl vent was opened up and a door was built to have it be in the open position. Happy to say everything came out ok. This last pic is of all the parts ready to be assembled. But not by me. I just do all the easy stuff! I am happy to say that the 33' is heading back to atlanta to be reunited with its owner @Kit Karson
