I've built both Bandai and Airfix/MPC Mustangs. I would prefer the Monogram 1/32 Phantom Mustang (high priced at this time) for ease of build. They also released a silver plastic kit of the same plane so parts could be mixed and matched. Currently have an MPC/Airfix Mustang in the hanger being built as Quicksilver. greg

You're welcome, I made myself what I called the 'twenty-five inch inch' A 25 inch long magnetic strip that is divided into marks as half, quarter, eighths, and sixteenth hashes. Set it up to full scale article you want to reduce to 1/25th scale. Take a picture and with a set of calipers you can scale off or the photo using the inch that is in the picture. Old school picture taking with 35mm SLRs cameras was to be 14 feet from object and the 5x7 print was close to scale. Another scaling hint is if you know the diameter of the wheel i.e. 20 inch truck rim. you can scale off a straight on shot to scale from the photo. Have fun greg

I think the way the body is shaped it gives the illusion of short booms. You still have some large pulleys to go on the ends. goin' call you Charlie DaVinci from now on. Hope you had a great Christmas. greg -
I met a wrecker model builder at a hobby shop outside of Pittsburgh who could give you help if only I knew his name.☹️ I believe he is in one of the Facebook groups that deal with wreckers. Sorry I don't do Facebook. Looking back in the threads here someone has a copy of the Phil Jenson plans. Search Phil Jenson on this site. The book cost more than a new kit. It was in segments in old Model Car Science magazine, maybe someone here has it. greg

I wonder if it would be easier for you to obtain an Italeri wrecker kit. Thay pumped out a lot of different cabs on the same wrecker body. If you want an old version, you might find Phil Jensen's Holmes wrecker directions. greg

Wasn't that an early prototype of the space shuttle? greg

Dug this one out of the sand and gave it a little rehab. Original model is body color injected styrene, funny fur seats, lost exhaust tips so used engine injectors, and missing front valence. greg

What type of flooring would be best to put under your hobby work area to prevent the "black hole" of lost parts from occurring? Wood, Laminate, Tile, Carpet, Linoleum, or Concrete. What color would be best to find parts on? I've got the black Harbor Freight cushion pad pieces and the parts just seem to disappear as soon as they sre dropped and the cushions now have compressed dots from the chair. Under the pads I have concrete unfortunately right at an expansion groove that swallows parts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 4 eyes greg

Nice job, I have this sealed kit to build and one question. Is the fuel line added or in the kit? If I'm not mistaken, the fuel line goes to the float bowl in the front of the carburetor and not into the body of the carburetor. greg -

Jeep CJ Howe Fire Truck
GLMFAA1 replied to Oldmopars's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
It could work both ways. It could draft from water source direct to the hoses it carried, or it received water from another source and distributed it to other units or hoses. greg This is the 'Jeep in a crate' -

Great build, I did 1/25th jeep brush trucks from the MPC jeeps. Right now, I have on a back burner a mix of the Italeri fire jeep parts on the MPC Korean jeep. The front pumps were probably Darley centrifugal pumps. Some pumps were self-powered allowing the vehicle to 'pump n go' That large scale Jeep would be great to do 'Jeep in a crate' model greg -
