1/8 scale 79 Ferrari T4
TonyK replied to Chris Smith's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
1/8th scale! Wow! Great looking model of one of my all time favorite drivers. -
That car looks ready to go! Very nice model of one of my favorite cars.

Looked at the page included with my order again and it says - "Due to a number of factors we are bringing Scale Equipment Ltd., as we know it, to a close over the course of 2024."
-
Just got a small order from Scale Equipment Ltd. and there was a notice included that sounds like they will be quitting business. I hope I understood it right but it said they are making items on order requests, not keeping items in stock. I've done business with them off and on for years and hate to see them go. Letting you know in case you want something, you better not procrastinate.

I know your story was not meant to be funny but I did get a kick out of the endless problems on this model. Your end result looks great to me. I really like it. Reminds me of the old Zinger models.

Looks ok now but was having issues earlier.

Another Can Of Testor's Bites The Dust
TonyK replied to oldcarfan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think I had that very same color do that to me so I found a model in my stash to build and used the rest of the can. Seemed to work fine. I have more trouble with Testors nozzles. Even after turning the can upside down to spray it clear the next time I use it the nozzle doesn't work right. -
In the mid 80's after my wife and I were married for a couple of years she encouraged me to get back into the hobby. That says a lot. I don't go overboard on buying models and such but have accumulated more than I will be able to build. I keep everything tidy in our spare rooms and real life comes first so modeling doesn't interfere with anything. The only thing she says once in awhile now is when I finish another model..... "Where are you going to put that?". Running out of room a little bit.

Buick Invicta via The French Connection
TonyK replied to 1972coronet's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Gene Hackman is good in every movie he's in. The French Connection was always a favorite of mine. They did a great job of immersing me into the movie and the characters of Hackman and Scheider. And they made me hate Frog 1. -
Yes, this was an enjoyable kit to build. Your model looks great and your decal work is perfect. Looks like it could've been a challenge but you mastered it.

I remember this car and always liked it a lot. Your model looks great! -
I like this and as you pointed out, it may not really be finished. You always think about adding more. Enjoyed your thought process with little things like the screwdriver in the wall.

Idiot. What's a few more steps to do the job right?

Gilles. One of my all time favorites. Yes, Pironi survived F1 (almost didn't) and then goes on to boat racing and dies. Some guys have to live life in the fast lane and it can catch up with them but that's the only way they know how to live. I'll have to see if I can see this documentary.

Excellent "weathering"! Thanks for sharing something different. -
Watched the Red Ball Express about a month ago. An eye opener to see all the efforts involved getting supplies where they are needed.
-
Looks real good to me. Glad you finally finished it and shared your build.

I need sound. Whatever size the engine is, I enjoy the sound. Whirring electric motors doesn't work for me.

Excellent model! And to see you've done it so well in 1/43rd scale too. -
What non-auto model did you get today?

Interesting little models. -
Wow! What exactly are these chemicals?!
