  1. In today's world of online communication one never knows if someone is serious or joking, even if the joke seams obvious to most readers. There are lots of totally clueless people posting total fallacies in the Interwebs, convinced that they know what they're talking about. Your post seemed to be "serious". A smiley would have made the intent of your post clearer.
  2. I don't use any Apple (or Android) devices, so I don't know. All I know that as time marches forward and "improvements" or updates are made to computer software, things can get messed up. In this case, the latest forum update seems to have changed the functionality of posting links to external photos. By looking at the problematic posts I understand what the problem is (and try to offer workarounds) but I don't know why the behavior is different now than when it was before the update.
  3. There have been many old car names revived in the last couple of decades. Of course they will not be anything like the original vehicles. Those were unreliable, rusted quickly and had very few safety features. That time has passed. Even those few that were reintroduced in the spirit of the original ones (like Charger or Challenger) are nothing like the original ones. The new ones are high-horsepower computers on wheels using advanced mechanical technology. They also can last over 10 years without rusting out.
  4. If you weren't joking, no there wasn't ever, and isn't any expiration date on BMF. It is not like food.
  5. Did it specifically mention that it is Bare Metal Foil, or was it Detail Master version of the foil?
  6. Yup - that's it. On a PC if you hover the mouse pointer over each, it shows you what they mean. not sure how iPad handles that.
  7. That is strange - I see the link. With the way this site handles message editing, some strange tings can happen. But "cleansing" any copied test by using Microsoft Notepad (or any basic plain-text editor) works really well.
  8. Yes, epoxy adhesive (especially the 5-minute type) will yellow over time. It ruined the gauges of my Pocher 1:8 scale Mercedes 500A/K There is Envirotex epoxy which might not yellow over time, but I have no experience with it. Maybe Microscale Crystal Clear (liquid used to make small windows) would work? That shouldn't yellow. Same with canopy glue (which is likely similar type of material).
  9. Or maybe it is acrylic resin liquid-hardener and powder. Like it is used in dental and fingernail trades?
  10. Les, I copied the photo link from your post and pasted it here. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51210081965_c2312d9674_b.jpg It shows up as a link - that means there is some extra (invisible) metadata in it. Then I took your link (above), pasted it into Windows Notepad (which strips all possible metadata, and makes it "plain text"), then copied it from the Notepad and pasted it in this post. It shows up as a photo.
  11. I also like the idea of being able to donate some funds to the forum. I suspect that some members would be willing to throw in few bucks to help with the costs of running this forum. As for the Internet Archive (wayback machine), I'm not sure how successful it is archiving forums (or any websites that are database-based). Have you actually checked how much of the forum's contents is there (without it pointing back to the live version)?
  12. Maybe we should be using the term Xcalibur instead?
  13. I do see them now - makes more sense. Still, they show up as anonymous - you can't click on each, and expand them to see who left them.
  14. Thanks! I also wish you all the best. Mom is a hoarder and also paranoid (even before she was afflicted with dementia), so her neighbor constantly "breaks in and steals everything" (including food from the cabinets and fridge). She locks the door, puts the chain on, and even barricades the doors by placing bunch of things in front of it, but somehow the neighbor still manages to come in (even with the door untouched). Mom takes things into her bedroom for overnight, and locks herself there for protection. When I explain to her that it is impossible for anybody to enter the apartment without disturbing her barricades, she agrees, but the next day, she goes back to her ways. Plus whenever she misplaces things, she used the "thieving neighbor" as an excuse when she can't find something in her piles of stuff. Of course, I end up finally finding the "stolen" items hidden somewhere in the apartment. Yet, physically she is in good health. I have so many crazy stories crazy, I could write a novel.
  15. Just messing around with the new features to see how useful/useless they are. So far the results are not very promising (but maybe we don't have the secret decoder ring). So all you see is green squares with a number? NO way to tell what reactions were given, and who gave them, right? Not very useful.
  16. I went back and gave a trophy to all your posts here.
  17. OK, since this silly system is here to stay (at least for now), how do we see who gave what reaction in my posts or posts made by others? I just gave confused reaction to your post and I see it, but what do others see? By the same token, some of my posts have a green square with a number on it, but that is all that shows. The square is not clickable so I don't know what type of reaction was given and by who. At least when someone replies with a post, I can see what they said (good or bad) and who said it. Or is this system designed for all the reactions to only be visible to the people that reacted. That would be *REALLY* dumb.
  18. I would probably go for a clean look - no racing stripes. The wheel wells look either silver (aluminum?), or white, or light gray?
  19. He is a member here and had a very long thread about decals. It seems that he has either stopped doing them, or took a long sabbatical. GO the last page of that thread and read the comments.
  20. I skipped through the video, and the guy was able to glue the tire halved together using contact cement, but he didn't really clean up the flash at the seam line at the center of the tread. He didn't bother because "it will not be visible on the completed model". He is not the most fastidious builder, but gets models built, and lots of views on Youtube.
  21. Yeah, that would be good!
  22. Problem with eBay is that you can't just search for a member (seller/buyer). They really limit what you can look for. If the seller has no items listed, you won't find them.
  23. I wonder since the front blades attach to the smaller diameter part of the cone, they are made longer, so that the total diameter of both propellers will end up being the same? That is one slick looking aircraft. It has very eye pleasing lines.
  24. Silly commercials have been around for quite some time, but somehow they were cuter back then. Anybody remember the series of NYNEX Yellow Pages ads? Like Civil Engineers, Rock Drills, Fencing Instructions, Dumb Waiters, etc., etc. They are on Youtoobe. Here is Furniture Stripping. Then there were other cutesy ones like Doritos crunch, Prego Spaghetti Sauce, and many many others. Most of them were not very annoying, and no booze, cigarettes or medication ads back then! Also, there were fewer ads per program. It seems nowadays that there are more ads than actual programming. And to put everybody in a happier mood, here is a couple of oldies.
  25. Quite possible since I had mine for a long time. Mine was powered by a small motor, similar to what powers inexpensive motorized toy cars. It would still shake 1OZ. bottles but at about 1/3 of the oscillations of the small Testors bottles. You got me curious. If you feel adventurous, and have some spare time, maybe you could unscrew the bottom plate and take a photo of the innards?
