  1. Gorgeous model, and I love the color combination! I do have a question: would a 1:1 car with white interior also have white dashboard pad? Wouldn't that cause all sorts of nasty reflections of the bright dash on the windshield under certain lighting conditions? I own a 1:1 car with white interior (dark-blue carpet and some interior trim) and the dash pad is also dark blue.
  2. The main active ingredient in it is the same as in the oven cleaner (lye).
  3. That is the problem - the odds. Few years ago both the Mega Millions and the Power Ball changed their rules (increased the pool of numbers to pick from) which greatly decreased the odds of winning the jackpot. Under the old rules the jackpots were usually between 30 and few hundred Million Dollars. They also doubled the price of the ticket. With the new lower odds of winning and doubled price to play the jackpot grows much higher, but is that really good? I would rather see more people (including me) winning smaller (but still very large) jackpots more often. But the lottery is not about the players - it is about the lottery (government) making money. I have heard lottery being called "tax on poor people" because while that part of the population pays no, or little taxes, they buy lottery tickets with the little money that they have, and usually they have nothing to show for. As for what to do with all that money, I'm sure I would find something to do with it. And I'm sure that one can easily adapt to the lavish life of the rich and famous. You won't know that until you actually have that money at hand. I have also heard that many average-folk lottery winners go broke. Spending money is easy.
  4. Dave, thanks for the update. Your health comes before anything else (especially a silly free online forum). Take care of yourself, worry about the forum later. Like you said, if you are not 100%, you do not want to deal with the problems.
  5. I've seen that message from time to time on my Win 7 laptop running Seamonkey browser. It doesn't seem to affect the functionality, so I ignore it. Nowadays there are so many compatibility problems between browsers and websites that I'm surprised things work as well as they do.
  6. Looks like it is time to start buying directly from the source. http://specialshapes.com/ No online ordering, but you can actually call them, speak to a real person and place a phone order. Actually Special-Shapes is a division of K&S. I have been ordering brass shapes and thin-wall tubing from them long before they were acquired by K&S. Take a look through their website to see what thy offer - lots of useful items (much wider selection than the usual K&S stuff in hobby shops).
  7. If that is how you feel about it, isn't it time to trade her in for a new model?
  8. While this thread is not in the wrong section (here), it might get even better response if it was in the Trucks section.
  9. Yes, this thread is pointless in the world we live in now.
  10. This is similar to the timid drivers who stop at the end of the on-ramp entering the freeway as if threw was some invisible stop sign instead of the "merging traffic" or Yield sign. I've seen them do that regardless of whether there is any traffic in the right lane of the freeway! This really sucks if you happen to be behind them, expecting to pick up speed to properly merge with the freeway traffic. Now you slam on the brakes and entering the freeway suddenly becomes very difficult (unless you own a super-car capable of 0-60MPH in 2 seconds).
  11. Yes there are many very helpful people here - like you: Thanks for those Good Year Wrangler tires!
  12. The larger parts were already cut of of the rack in the photo. The one was not all that bad. I don't have the parts which had the worse flaws anymore. I posted the photo to show that that I rack the parts myself and that for me stripping and re-plating would not work due to the extra work involved.
  13. Not at all. Do I small a bit of trolling here? The bad taste is the fact that it is a toy made for kids to bounce on (and have innocent fun with lots of laughter). When watching a movie depicting carnage, a normal person does not have fun, laugh or enjoy themselves. They usually feel sad (and even shed a tear sometimes).
  14. Just to show why I declined the free re-plating offer, I rack my own parts, with many parts being small and delicate pinned to the rack. I wasn't about to try to strip those. Here is a photo of one of my racks (some parts and pieces of the rack itself have been removed at the time I took this photo).
  15. I glanced at the subject line and figured that I'll leave my 5 cents here too. I don't think I will ever get tired of my "normal build subject". I build a wide rage of kits in scales from 1:220 to 1:6, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, some SciFi, ships, aircraft, and others. I'm also into model trains and electronics. I also spent too much time on my computer (and I'm not even on Facebook). Currently I am working on bunch of model railroad related projects (including an animated and illuminated Merry-go-Round model for an N scale carnival). If anything, I have too many projects going on. Never bored!!
  16. I sure hope they make a lot of them because the HLJ pre-order is closed.
  17. This is one of those questions which is repeatedly asked here. Of course the specific size of wire depends on the scale you are modeling in.
  18. Does that really matter? The point being made is that It's a large cruise ship sinking.
  19. Any news about EBBRO 1/24 Citroen DS21?
  20. Yes, in 0n30, that is tiny. I model in N scale (1:160), which is much smaller than 0, but to get really really tiny, the smallest operating model railroad scale is "T" (not to be confused with TT). It is 1:450.
  21. These are fantasy (not functional, or logically designed) vehicles.
  22. Interesting model and creative use of generic household items - I like it!
  23. That's exactly what I do. My neighbor (RIP) made an apron for me (sewing was her hobby) and I had her put a strip of Velcro on the bottom edge. The mating Velcro strip is stuck under the bench top. I put the apron on, sit down and reach under the workbench to attach the apron to the Velcro. Even if I accidentally get up, the Velcro releases safely. It is an age-old watchmaker's trick. It works great (if I don't forget to wear it)!
  24. Same here - dust in the "chrome". Of course I was offered a free re-plating, but I wasn't about to try stripping the inferior finish on many delicate parts. Too much hassle. I'm not going back.
  25. Is this stuff made in China?
