  1. Because he was a DI. Drill sergeants/instructors don't stand for any kind of happy horsefeathers from trainees. They need to establish exactly who's in charge. They can't show fear, especially in situations like that; and, attempt to take control of the situation as quickly as possible. I've seen similar things at Ft. Benning. Our Drill sergeant, SFC John Golloday, snatched a locked and loaded M16A1 from a dude called Spanky at the qualification range and beat him unconscious with it after Spanky threatened to blow Golloday's head off.
  2. She reminds me of some of the trashy chicks I used to see hanging around Busy Bee Mall in Massapequa. Might have been one of them. She's from Merrick.
  3. Bill, you'd be better off getting the HRM resin kit. Like Bill G. said, it's worth the geld. The casting is so smooth, It looks like styrene. The 289 is a piece of art.
  4. Rocketfin is a modeler's resource, like Tony Matteliano's old Scale Model Index website. Another online store, located in Astoria, N.Y., that buys and sells old/vintage kits is ModelCars.com.
  5. I'd answer that question; although, I'd definitely get a permanent ban.
  6. I'm with you, Bill. She appeared in a number of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" episodes.
  7. The fabric used for umbrellas and laundry bags would work. It's super thin. You just need to sew it on with some really small, neat stitches. Would you have any more photos of the frame, like part layout and the like?
  8. I know. I have two. I like the Aurora original just because it's Aurora and I built it as a kid, along with many others.
  9. That has MOPAR MUSCLE written all over it. FixItAgainTony is letting Dodge do its own thing.
  10. I'm holding off until Bill Geary starts marketing his fancy-schmancy functional ragtops.
  11. As Atlantis releases the kits over time, it might put to rest the "Aurora molds were destroyed in a trainwreck" stories. I have the feeling that there will be a number of "lost" kits that will available once again. It'll be interesting to see if Atlantis obtained the original VTTBOTS Flying Sub Land of the Giants Spindrift, The Frog and Proteus/Voyager molds too.
  12. That control looks like an M57 Firing Device "clacker" used to detonate Claymores:
  13. If you haven't been paying attention, Atlantis Toy & Model purchased a load of old Aurora, Revell, Monogram and Renwal molds after Hobbico went bust. These might be part of the horde.
  14. Thanks for posting that price list. Lots of classic Aurora kits on the table. I just asked Pete about the Invaders UFO on FB. Ebay sellers asking two bills for the 2015 re-issue are gonna take a beating. Who woulda thunk that it took a bankruptcy to let this great stuff see light of day again?
  15. WAS is the key word. Happy Halloween. Dawn Wells is still attractive at 80.
  16. I had this version Used it in Anzio landing project six of my friends and I presented (as a way to kill the entire school day. Sr. Grace knew what we were perpetrating; but, let us do it anyway. She appreciated our ingenuity. ) in seventh grade. It was a pretty nice kit.
  17. Bony fish can be a problem.
  18. Why not just mention it was posted at CULTTVMAN ? If these kits are any indication of of what molds Atlantis obtained, we're in for some real pleasant surprises. There are plenty of cool kits. The Atlas, Convair Shuttlecraft, the Aurora 727, Jolly Green Giant helicopter and Revell planes, ships, etc. Plus, Atlantis mentioned on its FB page that it's going to re-release the Invaders UFO sometime later this year/early 2019. The last time it was re-issued was in 2015 and is going for insane money. Big time Roger on that, Jesse. Gasoline Alley and Old Model Kits are going to take a beating on their sales.
  19. Lacquer thinner can be shot through an airbrush to clean out the Easy Chrome. I also used it to clean the sable brush used to apply the finish. Another interesting thing I discovered is that methylene chloride will also clean both the hand brush and airbrush nicely, with no residue remaining in/on either.
  20. You need to remove the molded details which will be replaced with the PE.
  21. Quick pics with cell phone. I only used the basecoat over the existing chrome on the the top (Johan '62 Dodge Dart) and middle (Johan '60 Desoto) bumpers. The bumper at the bottom is a previously de-chromed AMT '58 Impala part. Apologies for the c_rappy photos. I didn't feel like breaking out my camera. It doesn't show in the photos; but, the finish is mirror-like and reflective. I'll strip them, polish and spray a black acrylic basecoat prior to using the kit clear. I think Model Master Acryl Gloss Clear should work too.
  22. I'm happy that you and Steve like them.
  23. That looks awesome, Pete. Very ingenious and creative. I'm getting the bigger spray can kit so I can re-chrome the wheels and handlebars on my son's two Schwinn Grey Ghost Krate bikes. Heck, I might even Easy Chrome our cat.
  24. Both, since neither team plays in New York anymore and had abysmally bad seasons. I hear Big Blue is interested in resigning Joe Pisarchik. I was at the game. Years later, my sister was working at a securities firm and she mentioned that a guy named Joe Pisarchik works there. She said that he was a former football player. I told her to tell him I said, "Thanks a lot." The next day, she hands me a large envelope. Inside was a photo of the fumble, signed by Joe. He wrote, "To Joe. S**t happens."
  25. I'll call the office today and see if there is any info to be gleaned.
