  1. apr can fix that, or most aftermarket vw places. has the benefit of increasing the mpg too cos the car gets a tune for us gas too instead of the international tune they arrive with. Works even better on the diesels, even the base tune removes that nonsensicle feature, and you can get another 15mpg on top of an extra 40+bhp
  2. Thankyou, I always seem to forget about youtube, lol
  3. I'm getting started on a car that has a lot of small carbon fibre details on the interior and exterior. Would I be better to cut them before I apply them or is it better to wait and trim them afterwards. The places they have to go are all pretty tight shapes like mirrors, bumper trim and a very fine edge around the grilles. On the interior they go around some pretty tight curves and again both sides are seen. The kit is the alpha models audi rs4 and it was pretty expensive so I really want to do a good job on it as I saved up for 3 months to buy it
  4. yes, its new. It was released in europe at the end of november. I'm not sure when it will get to the USA but I expect it might have to be an import as theres no way it will fit the us boxes. Its one of those kits you open that wont fit back in the box
  5. Heres the contents of the new camper from revell. Its the recent bus kit with some new parts to make it a westphallia camper. All the bus parts are there except for the rear seats and it has the stock roof as well (which I wish I knew before I ordered another bus for the roof) The first pic is the van parts with the only change from the bus being the beige plastic instead of orange. The glass in the kit is new, and feature the flappy style windows which passed for aircon in these campers The camper pop top is new and I included pics of both sides of it Like all the revell camper kits it can be built open or closed and the canvas has detail molded in but I dont think it will be visible after paint unless your paint is very thin Again I include 2 pics to show both sides. The camper parts are mostly on the same sprue and look pretty good. The final sprue has more camper parts and what I first thought was a bed is actually the headliner for the closed pop top The decals come in 2 types. There is a basic sheet of stickers and a much better set of decals All in all I think its a pretty good kit which will build up well, but it is also a good basis if you want to go for more detail. The engine while just 2 parts looks good enough that some wiring will really make a difference and the kit goes together in a way that makes it an easy enough job to do. I'm sure it wont be long before we some extra detail for this from the after market. There are already 3d printed bodies available for this kit if you want a bus or a van but the roof on every one of them I've seen is a bit goofy so if you want a pick up I suggest getting the hasegawa t1 and swapping fronts around as its a really simple process. Just cut along the door line on the bus and pick up and your most of the way there
  6. I agree, I just finished a week on a unladen catermaran ferry and it was jumping around like a bronco. My face still hurts from all the salt spray and it wasn't even at sea. I think I wore more coffee than i drank
  7. if you want to save the 240z flares, macmodelismo do some in various sizes for not a lot of cash, I have a couple of sets and they are soft enough to conform to the rounded sides
  8. Try some of the online auto paint suppliers Pat, you can get litre cans for the same as one tamiya can and they can put any colour in cans for you. Just avoid simoniz paint cos its garbage. I use a place called jawell paints and I'm very happy with them. They also do house of kolor in spray cans.
  9. I have 2, tennants lager and desperados if its sunny
  10. Cool, love the stance. Not often you see the 4 doors built
  11. I'm going to guess the next ev from revell will be another audi, and if they are paying attention to 1/1s it will be the quattro rally car ken block is using for the next gymkhana vid. I think it would be a big seller just cos its blocks car and styled after the group b monsters so thats 2 markets for them
  12. the top from the linberg lincoln might be a better fit, there enough side material hanging down on it that you should be able to get a good fit without adding plastic to the bottom which you might have to do with the 50 ford top. it looks to have a similar shape too
  13. 3d printing pleased me today. For a long time I've been looking for a tempo matador truck and now someone has gone to the trouble of making it available as a resin print and theres loads of other vws I never thought I'd see in scale such as a mk2 scirocco and mk1 jetta. Theres even engine options becomming available so I'm very happy now. I hope this carries on for a while
  14. I saw one done like that on trak, I think the builder was called crazy swede. It looked good. If you go for it I'll be watching cos i recently got one of these to do the same thing. Theres some good pics on the deco rides website off the terry cook purple one from the late 90s and i think there was build up pics of it too
  15. the bay window vans are the new ones, the splits are just new decals
  16. how long had the tamiya paint sat for before you udes the molotowe? I've used it over the gold leaf and it dried fine but i had let the tamiya dry for about a week before.
  17. I use mine in the living room or bedroom, no problems unless the wind is in the window the hose is sticking out of but then its easy to use another window. My booth is a cheap one from amazon and I use mostly auto paints (acrylic) from a spray can. I have emphysema so fumes are a big problem for me but the booth fixed that. I would suggest getting a booth a size or 2 up from mine (14" by 24") as I find mine just a little small. I build 1/24 and 1/25 cars mostly. Mine also has lights around the opening which i would say is a must have as you will block a lot of light when you are painting. There is a slight smell sometimes but i dont think it is too strong. Also be sure to get more filter screen at the same time as you can be sure you'll need it when everywhere is closed
  18. I wouldn't be surprised if its from burnham autos, I think they are pretty near you and the owner is a big buick fan
  19. I wont buy unless the seller uses paypal now, once i used my card through their payment system and it was a week before they took the money
  20. cool, something completely different
  21. Thars the reason I wont sell on ebay. I've already been hacked once by doing that on a trusted site with all the padlocks and ssid stuff. No way will i ever give ebay my account details. Besides isn't the first rule of the internet NOT to give out too much personal information?
  22. I've used wood shavings from a local wood workers floor. He likes when I come along him cos I'll sweep the entire floor for him and pick out the bits I like. A little bit of care when choosing and you can find grain that looks in scale. Its simple to flatten too, just soak it in hot water then put it between 2 heavy flat items until it dries
  23. I could see both your pics, the hot rod and the concept car.
  24. Well last year turned out to be nothing but problems for me so I dont think I finished anything. Ya wouldn't think the glue from one model could wreck the paint on one next it as well as the one it was on, so I'll never use gorilla glue again. My plan for this year is to mix it up a bit. Lots more variety hopefully. 1, alpha model audi rs4 stanced, 2,sqarebody step side 3,low boy model A jalopy using a monogram built up as the base 4,vw type2 pick up. I've already combined the hasegawa pick up with the recent revell bus 5,vw type 2 camper- unusually for me it wont be slammed as it a replica of the one we used to own. the new revell camper will be the base but with the roof from the bus as ours didn't have the pop top and the layout was different 6,something japanese 7,a tractor with scratch built implement 8,finish one of the many started started 30s customs 9,1/24 mk1 scirocco and mk2 scirocco 10,something american 11,kyzyll saleem type build probably based on a vw or audi I'm sure there will be others
  25. that spare escort shell could be used to create barry lee's last car if you mix it with a mk2 escort kit. You'd need a mongram 4 pot mustang engine though if you want it close to the real one
