`70 Hurst Chrysler 300
Can-Con replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Rick, this list is several years old. A lot of those kits haven't been available in years. I see Steve does still have the stock '70 300 listed though. -
`70 Hurst Chrysler 300

Mine's an R+R but they're copies of the old AAM kits from the late '80s or early '90s. The AAM originally had separate hood and trunk lid so Art could release stock and Hurst versions. I don't think he ever did offer the Hurst one though. I don't know who's doing that version now. R+R went down a few years ago when the owner passed on, all the ones still for sale are old stock so get them while you can. And remember, contact Steve at Star before trying to purchase, it may already be out of stock but he may not have gotten around to deleting it from the website yet. -
Anyone make an '84 Trans Am with factory aero kit?
Can-Con replied to zak78's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I don't remember ever seeing a kit with that aero package. Just the earlier ones and the '85-up like my 1/1. Shouldn't be too hard to make though. You can make the grille block offs easily by just flipping the grills over and sanding the backs smooth and swapping them side to side. That hardtop you have must be the MPC '82 with the black car on the box? As far as I can tell, it's the only 3rd gen Firebird 1/25 that dosen't have the T-tops. I used that body when I built a replica of my car. -
That's my local shop. Scott gets a lot of his stock from the US. He has a drop off in Maine and makes a trip every week. I'm not sure if that's where his Round2 stock comes from but I think it is.

No. Even the AMT promos have the messed up sides. -

This is the MPC kit though, not the AMT. -
Airbrushing Humbrol enamels

A couple things about using BIN. First lay down a thin coat of primer , or any flat paint on the plastic that hasn't been sanded. BIN will not stick to smooth, shiny plastic and needs something to grip to or it will chip and flake easily. Also use cheap rubbing alcohol to thin it and for cleanup. Lacquer thinner , turpentine, mineral spirits etc. have no affect on it. Get a spray can and decant it to use in your airbrush. It's kinda thick sprayed strait from the can. You'll never use even a quart can before the inside of the lid starts to rust and then it's no good for what we use it for. Use multiple thin coats. Its blocked even the hottest HOK lacquer I've sprayed on it , even strait lacquer thinner. I've also used it as a "high build" primer to smooth out lacquer crazing on models. It wet sands beautifully. I've been using it for almost 30 years now. Probably the first person to use it for models and all the above comes from trial and error, first hand experience experimenting with it. -

Did I see what I thought I saw on tv

The long version of the ad is on youtube. Some great footage of the T-bird driving down a runway at the start of the ad. I think one or two of the other cars in the ad were in magazines back in the '80s or '90s too. -
Well guys, water's down a lot and we came back to the house last night. So far no damage and just some puddles on the basement floor that can't be vacuumed up yet as it's still slowly seeping back in. It seems to have reached a level it likes for now. No more coming in but if I clean it up, it's replaced at the same amount. Like I said, no damage, just gotta clean up the floor, disinfect it and put things back. Oh, and a few sheets of drywall to replace in my model room. The water was 24 inches deep at one point.

Very nice. I really like the color combo with those wheels. -
Snake, did you get a hood? I replied to your request post last week while I was getting ready to leave because of the flood but I couldn't find the original post again when I looked a couple days later.

Flood again. I've got a day or so before I have to turn the power off and bug out. When I bought the house I knew about the possibility of flooding. Historically, according to the records , it was maybe every 20 years or so that it would be bad enough to affect me here. Well, this will be the third time since I bought the house 12 years ago. The flooding IS getting more frequent and more often. I like where I live and I don't want to move but if this is going to be a common occurrence I won't have a choice. Anyway, if you don't hear from me for a while, you'll know why.
