  1. It turned out really nice Craig.
  2. Paul, yours is a dead ringer for the one I had right down to the white vinyl 1/2 top and pinstripping. Looks like yours has a lot less rust though.
  3. Yea, but that car was about what? 12-14 years old when the movie was made? I'd say that would be believable for what it was supposed to be.
  4. What gets me is in movies and tv shows set in present day if they want a character to be "down on his luck" and have to ride around in a "beater" the car is usually from the '60s or early '70s and usually a 2dr hardtop or convertible musclecar. You don't see too many poor people riding around in a '60s Chevelle Olds 442 or a Fairlane going to pick up groceries or their kid at school. Let's face it, even Joe Dirts beat up Charger Daytona would be worth big bucks even in that condition here in the real world. Seriously, what would that car be worth to a serious restorer? 20, 30 grand?? I don't know too many people "down on their luck" who can afford something like that as a "beater" daily driver. Where's the 15 year old minivan , Camary or Cavalier?? Ford Focus???
  5. Um, no, "cabriolet" is not "convertible" in french. That's "decapotable" A cabriolet is body style. A convertible with a fixed windshield, as opposed to one with a separate frame like on a roadster. Another poor attempt by Round2 at being bilingual.
  6. Now that's cool !!
  7. Yup, gonna get one or two of those. Wonder how much of the "Switchers" stuff will be in the kit? The SD version usually has only the parts to build the box art version.
  8. This should make a lot of people very very happy. ,, is that the 4X4 axle I see under there ??

Thanks Chuck. Yea, I wonder whatever happened to the '69? I don't think it was butchered into anything else.

Thanks Bruce. I think this was the first car I used those Pegasus wheels on. Must have been almost 15 years ago now.

Haven't been able to work on anything since the flood back in May so I thought I'd post up one of my older builds for those who haven't seen it before. I picked this up on my first trip to NNL East back in 2004 or 2005. It was converted to be used as a slot car and had large holes in the sides to mount the racing chassis. Now a simple curbside. Paint is Duplicolor Metalcast blue with a sand beige to orange-gold fade. The pinstrip between the blue and gold was applied by hand with a small stripping brush. I doubt I could do that again. Pegasus wheels and tires. Although quite simple, it's still one of my favorite builds. IIRC, this car made an appearance in some contest coverage in SA.
  15. Metalcast red over a custom mixed metallic pink base,, and the blue. IIRC, I mixed up a metallic light blue for a base. Ont thing to remember with stuff is it's very sensitive to what clear you use over it. A friend of mine used the regular Duplicolor clear laquer over it and it wrinkled up like he sprayed it with paint stripper. I guess mine didn't wrinkle because I mixed the metalcast with the clear. That must have "tempered" it so it stayed smooth. To be on the safe side though, I'd use a cooler clear or go right to a water based acrylic like the Tamiya X-22.
  16. They have solid lettering on one side and outlined on the other.
  17. That turned out fantastic. The Mini-lights really are a perfect wheel for that car.
  18. Well, actually, I'm pretty sure they used all Chevy parts inside except for the dash itself. Chevy steering wheels too.
  19. Thanks Craig. My wheels are actually a set of regular MPC snowflakes in some 19" sleeves. Pegasus Michelin tires. Another odd color option on most GM cars back then was white seats with everything else in a different color. [as opposed to white interior with just different color dash and carpet.] It was available on almost everything but mostly seen on full size convertibles. Still, quite rare though. This one's in a '75. Apparently, '77 was the last year for this option but it sure looks good.
  20. Looks good but the GTO seats is not correct for a Beaumont. They used the Chevelle seat upholstery. Just wanted to point that out .
  21. That's gonna look great.
