  1. A possible source for the slicks is the older original issue of slicks from AMT; I believe there are a set of cheater slicks in there. The only hi-rise 2X4 for a SBF I can think of is in the Firefox Mustang kit, which I think you have already suggested.
  2. I had a "collection buyer" approach me at a local hobby show where I was attempting to thin my stash, he offered me $5 per kit. I honestly had to 'hold back my tears of joy" when I told him No thanks. This is not to say all buyers are like this. If you are serious about selling your stash, check around.
  3. Maybe if you were to narrow the front axle just a bit and add a good set of split wishbone radius rods the front suspension would not appear to be "too floppy". I like the direction you are going with this one; really dig those salty racers.
  4. Nice looking Chevy. That fuel injection looks similar to the one included in the AMT 53 Ford pickup for their Desoto engine.
  5. Doesn't look familiar, but the Crestliner scripts may have come from the Lindberg '53 Ford.
  6. Just completed a trade with Johnt671. Excellent communication, very pleased with every aspect of the trade - and I got a sealed '58 Edsel!!
  7. That is one convincingly, beautiful build. Are those wheel weights on the wheels?
  8. The other magazine did an article in their latest issue telling how to make wider tires, maybe that will be of some help.
  9. Cut down a NASCAR chassis and make them into Saturday night bullring fighters.
  10. Not really into modeling big rigs, although I have a couple in my stash. That being said this is one beautiful build and some outstanding scratchbuilding expertise. Excellent weathering job, also.
  11. Really like where you are going with this one. And it is going to have to be fast with that Mustang top on it.
  12. Absolutely beautiful '40 Coupe. Got to be one of the prettiest bodies from Dearborn, and you have taken it to the next level of beauty. Super clean build.
  13. Ace, I can see your thought pattern on this, however to me it is still stealing someone else's work. Somewhere, someone had to spend countless hours making the tool for the original injection mold and that work belongs to him or the company. Remember the big tiff over NASCAR decals, tire sidewall markings, etc, because of licensing fees, quite the same issue.
  14. Hobby Lobby has been carrying sanding sticks lately. However I make my own using Styrofoam meat trays, spray adhesive, and wet/dry paper of different grits. Just be sure to apply smooth pressure to the paper to make sure it adheres firmly to the Styrofoam. You are then able to cut out whatever shape you need.
  15. What weathering? I though all MOPARS looked this way - said the FORD man. Really nice work. I have got to learn how to do this rust/weathering thing. Guess I need to drag some of my POS kits off the shelf and practice.
  16. Got my issue also. Read through it, enjoyed it immensely, scraped the cobwebs off my storage binder and filed it for future reference.
  17. Sweet looking Jeep. Which kit did you use and are those kit tires?
  18. All these accolades about this build looking perfect are redundant, the '65 Chevelle SS IS PERFECT. Now that I have that off my chest allow me to say this is a beautiful build. Everything about it just fits so well with the original beauty of the real car. I have three in my stash and will one day build one to resemble the '65 SS I used to own: Tahitian turquoise, 283, 4 spd.
  19. Looking forward to what you do with this one. The '65 Chevelle is my favorite all time car. I owned a 1:1 Tahitian turquoise SS with a 283 4-speed. Really miss that car.
  20. While we are on the topic of building trailers. Does anyone have any drawings/plans for either a torsion suspension for a double/multi axle trailer, or how to attach a double/multi axle leaf spring system? I have looked through several trailer manufacturers and do have some rudimentary ideas but nothing that seems really feasible for scratchbuilding. I am having a brain-phhhtt, there is a name for the piece used between the two springs on a double axle trailer. BTW, that is a nice modification to the Caprice trailer. One of my big issues with that particular trailer kit is the lack of a cross-member across the rear of the trailer, I would be afraid those free-floating ramps would begin to really oscillate going down a typically rough interstate.
  21. I believe this has already been discussed, but I can't seem to find it. I quite often use acrylic craft paints on models. In the past I have thinned with acrylic thinner from the same company as the paint is from. I have also used low-grade alcohol/distilled water mix. All of these give varying results. I seem to remember seeing someone mention using Windex as a thinner, as well as cleaning their airbrush after painting. All the Windex we have at the house has a blue tint, will that not also tint any paint mixed with it? Another thought is using Future as a mix with craft paints to give a shine to the paint. Has anyone tried this and what were the results?
  22. The Sharpies are usually available at WalMart or other such fine stores.
  23. Beautiful Cadillac, those early 50's were the most elegant of the modern era. There is a fellow around here that owns a '49 (I believe). He brings it to several of the local car shows.
  24. Here are the results of the tests: Speedtest: Ping - 6 ms, Download - 6.13 Mbps, Upload - 1.09 Bandwidthplace: Ping - 32 ms, Download - 9.41 Mbps, Upload - 1.15 Mbps I did not state in my last post, this is the only site I am having this problem on. I belong to five other modeling sites and they all work just fine.
