  1. Super nice Mustang, very convincing SOHC. I still am a big fan of the FORD Drag Team.
  2. I usually attend the CKM show in Clemmons and will be at the Fast Trax show in Statesville. I wanted to go to Salisbury but had some conflicting engagements and couldn't make it this year.
  3. Looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor, nice, clean build.
  4. That might work, especially if I use the first picture. The decal sheet is complete, although a bit crispy.
  5. Good looking Challenger, looks good in that color. What did you use on the interior for carpet?
  6. A couple of weeks ago I bid an 3 1/72 scale Douglas DC-3 aircraft Testors/Italeri. The details said (not quoting) 'Three model kits two sealed one missing some parts'. They arrived today and I got two sealed kits and one missing "some parts". Can anyone tell me just what parts might be missing? If I had not received the two sealed kits I would be livid. The picture the auction site posted was similar to the first picture except it was leaning against the two sealed kits. Oh, BTW the open kit had three bottles of Testors paint. I opened one and it looked ok, however I do not know exactly what color they are since there is no name on the label, just Testors Pla Enamel.
  7. I had a bid in on one of these along with another kit on an on-line auction but got outbid. It wasn't Ebay.
  8. Interesting tip. In the mid 60's those of us who could not afford glasspack mufflers, (almost $40 per set) would use '55 GMC truck mufflers ($5 each). They gave a nice deep rumble to even stock V-8s, but they did hang a bit lower and would often drag on speedbumps.
  9. I truly appreciate that video. I was there, but didn't get to look at the models as much as I wanted to. Seems every time I walked away from my sales table potential buyers would show up. Had a great time, looking forward to next year.
  10. Knee was bothering me pretty bad after standing for more than 8 hours at the MDA Model show in Roanoke. Filled up my Iceman with ice, sat back in the recliner and thoroughly enjoyed reading issue #218 from cover to cover. Now I have to wait for #219 to come out.
  11. You are doing some really nice work on this build, especially your 'engine' detail.
  12. Do you know how much dirt those ribs will collect over a couple of years? We had to wash our buses at the end of the school year. I used a power washer the first year and I sprayed for a long time while black dirt poured out from under those ribs. Anyway, you are definitely getting the look of a school bus. Keep the updates coming.
  13. Very nice looking and creative little coupe. Looking forward to updates.
  14. Several years back I came in possession of several (hundreds) of sheets of newsprint, they are about 2X3 feet. My spray booth is a home-built unit made of plywood. I simply thumbtack a couple sheets of the newsprint inside to cover the walls and floor, run some blue tape down the center overlap and use that until it needs changing, then do it again. If you were to go to a newspaper publisher close to where you live, they may have off-cuts they would be willing to give you or sell for a minimum charge.
  15. Had my last physical therapy appointment today following my knee replacement last November 29th. Therapist told me there is nothing else they can do. Still have some swelling in the joint and difficulty walking with a correct gait. Have appointment with surgeon next Thursday and will see what his recommendations are. Therapists have mentioned possible edema therapy, maybe having to do some scar tissue removal. Whatever it takes doesn't sound like a lot of fun and is going to seriously affect my gardening and fishing time this spring.
  16. Another suggestion would be to use the engine out of the Revell (?) Ferguson tractor, if you can find one.
  17. Really nice Chevy truck. you did it justice.
  18. Wonder if those would be available at Sally's Beauty Supply or an equivalent?
  19. An outstanding use of leftover parts and some excellent modeling.
  20. That is some beautiful work. It just looks so wicked. Might be concerned about ingesting a 'possum into that procharger though.
  21. At least you didn't pull a U-Haul trailer with it. I've always heard, "You can't take it with you, you don't see a U-Haul trailer behind the hearse."
  22. I have removed the outside taillight bulges in order to smooth the sides. My original idea was to make a long, narrow taillight but was having trouble getting my material to cooperate. I found a bag of small adhesive gemstones at Hobby Lobby that will work better and will carry the dual headlight theme to the taillights. This is going to be the area which really tests my patience with filling, sanding, etc.
  23. Since this is going to represent a late 50's-early 60's custom the hood has to be pancaked and nosed. So, I have taken care of that. Had some issues with the hood hinge. Normally on a set-up like this you would simply glue a piece of tubing across the hood, install some wire and bend it. But, since the '50 Ford has a peaked hood I had to use two small pieces of tubing on each side of the opening and bend hinges to fit, they didn't come out quite like I wanted.
  24. Once I had the headlight section attached, I realized the body sides were too wide., so out came the masking tape and XActo saw. Took about three scale inches out of it.
