Oh yeah, crank 'em up and let those bosses rumble. Always liked Super Stock and Modified Production drag racing. You have done an excellent job on these two machines.

Very nice Mustang, clean build. I like it.

Definitely going to be different. A suggestion on the taillights, keep the indented panel, sand the taillight opening so they will be flat and blended into the panel.

What was the worst movie you saw at the theater??
TarheelRick replied to slusher's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
A couple come to mind. The first was "Motor-Psycho", loosely a "Hell's Angel" type movie. Filmed in B&W, opening scene was sound of a group of unmuffled Harleys, cameras focused on the bearded, do-rag head, no helmet, style riders. When the camera's panned out they were all riding Honda dirt-bikes. Plot line was obvious from the next scene; a well-endowed young woman working in her yard and the bikers came rumbling by. Anyway it was a good laugh. The other one was "Barry Lyndon" a three hour bore placed in 1800's England (I think). Never could figure out what the story line was; when the hour an half intermission came I convinced my girl friend it was time to find something more entertaining to do. -
Citroen Crepe Mobile

Excellent work on an obscure subject. Very realistic look to the figures. I like it. -
That is some interesting body work. You seem to have a good eye for proportions and your finished bodywork is exceptional. I've seen too many customs where the extensions look flat, but this one is very well done. Wondering about the chassis, how are you going to lengthen it?

Interesting about the "scrap pile" along the Great Smoky Mountains RR. I had planned on taking that excursion last month, I figured the fall leaves in that area would be at prime color. Unfortunately I broke my ankle on Saturday before my planned trip on Monday. Maybe I can go in the spring when everything is coming back to life.

Had my house renovated a few years back. Specified the fixtures I wanted by brand. Couple of years ago kitchen sink began dripping. Took out cartridge went to Lowes, Home Depot and the local hardware store that has everything (if you can find it). No luck on finding a replacement cartridge. Went to company website, found the faucet in question and called to order a cartridge. They told me that particular model did not have a cartridge, I argued a bit with them because I was holding the cartridge in my hand. Anyway, wife decided she wanted a different design, so I purchased name brand one at Lowes. When I removed the old one I could not find any brand name anywhere on the unit. Repeated the same process in bathrooms. The contractor, whom I knew for years, allowed his son to run my project, it seems he does not have the same affection for the job his dad does. Needless to say I will not be recommending them to do any work.

Very nice, now let's see it covered in mud with some rock dings. -
Using Acrylic Fingernail filler for bodywork
TarheelRick replied to Custom Mike's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Have been using acrylic filler since a friend showed me his results. One thing I have learned is this filler does not appreciate a dehydrator, makes the filler bubble up. -
If you are looking for the quick release style from earlier NASCAR, quite often the clicker end of an ink pen will work. Just take of a slice of the pen barrel and the clicker section. A small circle of styrene on the bottom end will usually do the trick. I am unable to get to my model area right now (broken ankle keeps me out of the basement) or I would try to take some pictures to better illustrate.

Couple of really tough looking bull ring contenders. Excellent work on both of them.

When will this nightmare of 2020 end? Friday night my computer decided it had done it's duty and quit with no notice. OK, figure Saturday I will go into town in the afternoon and get something new.Got up Saturday to a really beautiful sunny day with a mild temperature so decided to work on my shed for a while before going into town. Going down the basement stairs my old worn out work shoes decided it would be a good time to test my ankle strength so they rolled over. After getting up off the floor with a very sore ankle I went on outside, in some pain, but figured it was a sprain and some ice later on would take care of the trick. Long story short there is a crack in the Tibia where it joins the ankle joint, very luck does not require any surgery but will be in a cast for a few weeks. Heard someone say the other day, when DST ends they are not going to change their clocks because they do not want one more hour of 2020 - AMEN!

Got to add my $.02 to this build. That is one mighty fine looking Bird. As mentioned earlier I thought the first picture was a staged brochure photo, then I noticed there was no driver. That color really sets it off. I have heard many negative reports on this kit, but looking at your build I may take mine out of the "for sale" box and put it back on the "too build" shelf. Thanks for sharing this beauty with us.

Cobra and XK-E GT hardtops?
TarheelRick replied to Kit Basher's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
IIRC the original AMT Cobra kit came with a hardtop very similar to that one. Although it wasn't quite as bulbous as that one, more streamlined. Then again the more I think about it that particular top I am thinking of may have been in the AMT '57 T-Bird. Disregard, my thoughts are rambling, must have been the extra coffee I had this morning. -
Considering the sow's ear you began with this turned into a mighty fine looking silk purse. As was mentioned above I displayed mine with the nose tilted forward; BTW I made my own tilt hinge with brass tubing and wire. That color really looks god, accentuates all those subtle curves of this body. I do have more of these in my stash (one of my favorite kits - guess I am a sadist), and I plan on gluing the noses on and opening the hood as it is in 1:1.

1956 150 was my very first car, I paid $100 for it. Body was solid, interior looked like a couple of male Bengal tigers had a domination issue, of course old bed spreads took care of that. Six cylinder three on the tree, but it was MY car and it gave me freedom. I have always been partial to the '56. In fact I have two of the original issue DelRays and one of the California Wheels issues in my stash.

Mission Impossible - American Graffiti cop car from a wreck
TarheelRick replied to alan barton's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Don't know how I missed the beginning of this build, but I am sure glad I found it. You are doing some very impressive work. I am sending you a PM. -
I used to carry one, but driving a school bus it is strictly forbidden. A pocketknife on school grounds is considered to be a deadly weapon and arrest could turn into a felony, so my Schrade stays at the house. Last year a kid was expelled for the remainder of the year because he had one of those little penknives on his key chain.

That is some excellent work on that van windshield, well really everything overall. Love the work you have done.

Scale Auto Web Site
TarheelRick replied to Chuckyg1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When the stuff hit the fan I contacted the subscription department at SA and had the remainder of my subscription transferred to Model Railroad and yes I am geriatric, still enjoy playing with toy trains just as much as I do playing with toy cars. It is these type comments which are completely out of line on any open community forum.
