55 Nomad delivery street Gasser (On the bench)
TarheelRick replied to Gumball's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I love gassers so I will watch what you do with this one. You might want to move the battery from in front of the radiator to above the rear axle where it will do more good. And unless you are going to be building a street/gasser those horns are just so much added weight. -
1953 Ford Crestline Victoria (Lindberg) - NEW PHOTOS ADDED
TarheelRick replied to YBlock292's topic in Model Cars
Very pretty Vicky, that color looks great on it. I have a few of these in my stash, 2 hardtops, 2 converts, one resin 4dr, and a couple of zip-lock bags of parts from a model show. So far I have completed one convertible and have another in work. -
Another 7/8 Car Hauler
TarheelRick replied to kilrathy10's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
What type suspension did you use under this one, or did you just run axles though the body work? -
Quick build......Lindberg 27 T cartoon style.....
TarheelRick replied to Dave Van's topic in Model Cars
Didn't I see that car in "Beach Blanket Bingo" or maybe it was "Muscle Beach". You hit the look of those Disney hot rods very well. Sweet little roadster. -
34 Ford Pickup

Got some outdoor pictures between planting garden, mowing yard, and constructing another storage building. -
Very nice looking basic Plymouth. Just wondering why the right hand drive, other than to see if you could do it? Really like this build.

1975 Datsun 620
TarheelRick replied to RickRollerLT1's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Good looking "Li'l Hustler", nice color. I have been contemplating this very same engine swap. What headaches do I need look for? -
I wish I had a photo. That day at the strip my wife was out of the country and had the good camera, so I bought a couple of those cameras that you send the whole thing in to get processed. Both of them locked up after about three or four photos, and none of those photos developed either.

Most excellent build. I may have to "borrow" some of your ideas for one I have in mind. -
What they said. There is one that used to run the local track called "Super Cat", except for the name and paint it could almost be a twin. Really like the work you have put into this one. Fine looking model.

Sweet BMW, would like to find one like that in my garage.

Fiat 131 Abarth

The bars are closed here also, although I think you may be able to get drive-by service. I know the governor has classified the local ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) stores as being an essential business so they are open. That's what everyone needs, locked up in their homes with a couple bottles of Wild Turkey. -
Not sure how close to scale accuracy it is but I use .100 rod for most of my cage work and chassis work. Of course I have never built a complete pro-mod chassis so I may be off base with this suggestion.

1977 International Scout
TarheelRick replied to crazyjim's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very nice Scout, like that color. With those 2 4's it probably will DD MAU. -
Finally got one finished that isn't a short track car. Tried my hand at weathering. Surprised at how well it came out, although still need some practice. The engine is from AMT '49 Mercury, the only flathead in my inventory with 2X2 intake and Offy heads. Bed is weathered, distressed wood, one plank is broken. Notice the right rear tire, with the power of the flattie and no weight on the rear it is easy to lose traction. You may also notice all the chrome is blacked out, after all you don't want anything shiny on a bright moonlit trip through the piney woods.

Beautiful Mustang, but then that is a redundant statement, all Mustangs are beautiful. Really like the engine compartment, your paint detail in excellent.

One very fine looking jalopy. Those old Chevy frames are fun to work with; I used a 41 truck frame under a Willys sportsman coupe with a Chevy 6.

Beautiful mild-custom Shoebox.. Really like the stance, but that interior is killer. Excellent work.

Back when I was stationed at Wright-Patterson I dated a girl from Troy and we used to go to Piqua. Part of my photography class portfolio at Wright State included some night shots from downtown Piqua. That is one fine color on your Buick. Looking forward to updates.

Very nice build of a beautiful Porsche. I have the 1/32 static kit and slot car. I really need to dig those out, clean' them up and display them.

Revell ‘41 Chevy Pickup
TarheelRick replied to NOBLNG's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very nice looking truck, looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Color choice fits it perfectly. -
New Work Area and Stash :)
TarheelRick replied to Howard Cohen's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks a lot for those pictures. I have now ruined my keyboard drooling over some of those vintage kits, especially the 40 Willys/32 Ford Sedan custom. Sure wish AMT/Round2 would reissue that kit, even without the Willys. -
Ever buy kits...just to "Pirate" parts?
TarheelRick replied to Southern Fried's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Sure have. Every year at the CKM Model Show I look through the vendors "bag" kits for parts builds. Have picked up a 41 Willys complete Street Rod chassis, and several other goodies. Also bought the Dodge custom/concept (?) pickup for the bed for a custom I have been working on since dirt was new. Some kits I bought just because they were cheap and some of them will probably turn into parts kits. -
Very nice Woody. I like it with the wires. That Chevy grille really makes you do a double-take.
