Hi Jim, welcome! Don't be intimidated by what you see! Yes, we have some highly skilled builders who can create things virtually indistinguishable from the real thing. But we also have beginners, and plenty of intermediate builders. I think the common theme is that we all enjoy what we do, and how we do it. There is a ridiculous amount of knowledge and support here, so don't be afraid to ask questions or post your work!

Thanks! Super quick slump buster. I have quite a few more of these to work my way through! -
AMT Chev C1500

Yup, inkjet printing. But I ran out of glossy photo paper, so had to make do with the matte finish photo paper. I know these technically are not GMT400 gauges, but they look good, so I used them. Yeah, kind of a different colour scheme. I was inspired by a truck at this year's Barrett Jackson. -
I'm not really a plane guy. especially with models. That was always my dad's building domain. But there are a few that just grab me for whatever reason. CF-104 Starfighter - I have a few kits of these in the stash. Will build them...one day. lolz. Avro Arrow - such and iconic plane, such a wild story. The Spitfire - 'nuff said. Ed Force One - 747-400 - Just such a cool plane. I have this in the stash too, with the decals.

At the risk of sounding like an AMT hater, for me it has to be the AMT Superstones Ford truck. That is the one kit that I got so fed up with, I stuffed it in a box and haven't finished it. Nothing fit right, vague instructions. Just overall...ugh. I suppose at one point I'll finish it. Close second is the Airfix BMW M1. When finished, it vaguely resembles an M1. Body proportions just don't look right, the wheels are terrible - both in design and fitment, and the interior is severely lacking in detail. Other than those, I really haven't run into any others I dislike. Many that needed some work to get them looking good, but those were still fun too.

St John Jeep

I think it's neat. Pretty safe to assume the real thing was someone's home build and not something professionally done? Builds like this keep me motivated to practice and hone my own scratchbuilding skills. Looking forward to seeing more! -
Knocked out a quick one. Just a rebuild of a damaged AMT promo kit. Colours are Tamiya Gloss Aluminum and Duplicolour GM Slate Grey Metallic. Interior is a few shades Of Tamiya TS colours. Added some flocking, made some gauges.

'90s GMC TopKick C7500

This is turning out fantastic. Super impressed with your attention to detail. -
For me... Modern pickup trucks. Chev, Ford, Ram, whatever. Something from the last 10 years. Aston Martin V8 - 1969 through 1989 Chev/GMC OBS trucks - K series, not the C series! 1977-1979 Ford Thunderbird VW T3 Transporter Doka - preferably in Syncro form Chassis cab pickups - Ford F550, Ram 5500. Something that would be a great blank slate for a deck truck, service body, picker/crane unit, tow rig, etc. Porsche Cayenne Land Rover Discovery 1968 Plymouth Fury III Convertible - but only because I want to build a version like we used to own!

BMF, stepping up my game

Looks pretty good to me! Definitely something I need more practice doing. -
Always thought it was interesting that Revell did a Cougar XR7 kit for 1990, 1991, and 1992. Went through the effort of new packaging, new colours, model year updates, etc. I have the red 1991 version. But my vote is for the Thunderbird.

VW Mk1 Golf GTI stanced with Turbofan [1/24 Revell]
iamsuperdan replied to e30lover's topic in Model Cars
Although the stretch look on the tires is not my taste, I love the wheel choice. And the build overall is excellent. Engine detailing, paintwork...just excellent. -
Hmm...I wonder if trimming some red Tuck Tape would be transparent enough for the lights?

My tastes are definitely little different than most posted in this thread. Personally, I'd like to see the following. Tamiya: Audi quattro Coupe Ford Sierra XR4i / Sierra Cosworth RS5000 Mercedes C Class DTM cars (there are 5 of these in various liveries) Porsche 911 Turbo Flatnose Volvo 850 Turbo Estate Volvo 850 BTCC - both sedan and wagon Fujimi: Porsche Gembella Avalanche 911 Carrera 2/4/RS/Turbo/etc - 964 generation - there are at least 20 different versions, I'd buy any of them. Toyota Mk1 MR2

I'm impressed with the amount of detail this kit has. I have it in the stash, this makes me want to start it.

I really like this one. -
Hey, another local! I recognize this car! I've been a VW guy for a long time now. Worked for Norden for most of the 90s and early 2000s, have been an owner and previous participant/winner at the Air Riders shows over the years.

The model info starts at 18:50, if you want to skip the diecast and slotcar stuff. -
So I still haven't started the build yet, but last night I was playing around with making white decals. The colour scheme I'm aiming for is dark and requires white lettering, so I need to figure this out. I have a backup plan just in case my experiments fail. I've picked up a few different types of decal paper from some art supply shops, and am getting some okay results so far. Fingers crossed.

You do some nice work!
