  1. Just got back from a few days in Whitehorse, in the Yukon Territories. Was up there to host an open house at our dealer partner. Plus attend the 2024 Geosciences tradeshow & forum. So yeah, a work trip, but when the views are so nice it doesn't always seem like work. Sun doesn't come up until 10am or so. This pic was taken at 9:45 Sunday morning. And this was out at Miles Canyon, around 1 in the afternoon. Sun stays low in the sky all day. Got a little hiking in. And then for the open house, this was at our dealer. Again, about 9:30 am on Saturday. Still dark.
  2. At this point. I don't think you should renew. What we're doing is obviously not to your standards, so you should probably find something that is. There are less than 10 people involved in the production of each issue. People with full time jobs and families and other responsibilities, plus as most people know, the boss has some health issues that take him away from his duties. The mag is a hobby and a service, not a career. So if it comes out every 2 or 3 months, we're happy with that, and most people seem to be happy with that too. And as was mentioned previously, you subscription is based on the number of issues, not the frequency.
  3. As has been discussed here, Tamiya spray paints have been banned for the foreseeable future here in Canada. I've taken this as my sign that I need to dive into the world of airbrushing. So I now have an airbrush with compressor and all the trimmings.
  4. Was speaking with a manager at my preferred hobby shop. Apparently, the ban is spreading to other countries now. Tamiya is going to need to figure this out for sure.
  5. Okay, so if anyone here is trading or selling or buying with anyone in Canada, there will be delivery delays for a while. https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/en/our-company/news-and-media/corporate-news/negotiations/2024-11-15-cupw-announces-national-strike-that-will-cause-service-delays-for-canadians Canada Post officially went on strike at midnight, so nothing is getting delivered, either to or from Canada. Unless you go with a courier. Which in some cases is on par with Canada Post pricing. Just an FYI for everyone. Please do not start discussing or lamenting the reasons behind it.
  6. I just noticed that this "What please me" thread is near the top of page 1. While the "What irked me" thread is all the way back on page 2. Could it be? Could people currently be happier than annoyed? Did I just jinx it? ?
  7. Every time I head into downtown Edmonton, I see a beautiful Land Rover Defender. The classic version, not the new one. Defender 110 wagon. White with black wheels. Not all blinged out with racks and lights and stuff. I have yet to be able to snap a pic, as it's downtown, so always a ton of traffic and not very conducive to picture taking. One day though...
  8. Some pretty impressive work for sure. How could you not stop and stare when that drives past? He picked the right colour for it too. And I really like that he did not go for black wheels.
  9. As an FYI, literally EVERY thread that starts as a "new release prediction" thread turns into a dream/wishlist thread. Every. Single. Time.
  10. One question. What the heck is this?
  11. That Blazer is definitely going to make its way into my stash. Probably a couple of times too.
  12. Went out for dinner last night, and in the parking lot was a mid-late 80s VW Transporter Doka. It was dark, and none of the pics I took worked. But it totally reminded me of the one I had...and miss having. I was drooling. My daughter thought it was awesome. Wifey still refers to it as a dumb looking truck thing. The boy doesn't care.
  13. Got confirmation that my new wheels for my demo truck have arrived. And my tires are officially en route from Iceland. So after a few delays, I'll be picking my demo truck up at the end of the month. Then I immediately get to roadtrip it from Wyoming to home. Then will be designing some graphics for it. On a couple of more weeks! I'm stoked.
  14. Now THAT is awesome. I guess if you can't find and purchase a real one... And even if you could find a real one, finding a real one that is airworthy would be even tougher. Shame that he hasn't flown it in two years though. He didn't mention why, but I'm guessing maybe health related? Or maybe just the cost in keeping a plane airworthy? Anyway, this is great. I'm not a plane aficionado, but I am a little obsessed with Spitfires and Lancasters.
  15. You definitely need to watch Ford Vs Ferrari. It's an excellent movie.
  16. lolz, I do that ALL the time. I am constantly referring to movies as documentaries.
  17. Yup. Years ago I was half finished the Revell VW Mk3 Golf GTI kit. The whole thing just vanished. The box, the stuff I started on, the remaining sprues...everything. Never did find them.
  18. I definitely wish we had some new tools of some modern trucks! I appreciate the old stuff, but want the new stuff.
  19. Talladega Nights wasn't really a racing movie though. It's more of a parody, a spoof. It was in no way trying to be accurate. They just went for pure goofball comedy and happened to base it around race cars. It's a racing movie in the same way that Austin Powers is an accurate rendition of 1960s London. Or how Spies Like Us accurately depicts how you become a spy. Actually, that was an awesome movie. I should watch that today.
  20. That looks much more conducive to modelmaking. Unfortunately, my bench looks more like your before pic.
  21. Me too. Pretty sure all three will end up in my stash. At the very least, I'll have one of the vans.
  22. Perfect paint choice for that car. Can't wait to see more!
  23. The Revell W900 is a good starter kit for sure. Revell also has the Peterbilt 359, which is similar to the Kenworth. I also like the AMT International 4070A. It's more detailed kit than the two Revell kits above, a little more complicated, but it goes together beautifully. It's almost like Tamiya, in how well it assembles.
  24. DoT was not accurate, but then...the film makers weren't going for accuracy. They were going for something that looked and felt exciting. Mission accomplished. Yeah, it's a dumb movie, but it's fun to watch. Even if it's the exact same story as Top Gun, just with cars instead of planes. I'd watch a sequel. Although for the life of me I can't figure out how there's any kind of a story to expand upon. Unless they just copy Maverick.
  25. I love those bubble window Capris. Especially that first one you posted, the sand coloured one.
