  1. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it is on quite a few 1:1's. Thanks! I had tried custom mixing to try to get the right color, but then I found the Folkart Metallic Peridot and it was perfect. I use mostly craft paints anymore, especially in the winter in Michigan. I do still use spray cans in the warmer months, especially when the right color for a project is available that way.

  15. The AMT 1970 Monte Carlo SS454 is done, just before my end of the year deadline. It's a pretty nice kit overall, with lots of detail parts and molded in details. As kitted though, the front end sits a little high and my kit hood was too short to fit right, even though I didn't plan on using it. I used a resin hood from Lex's Scale Modeling, but I just couldn't get it to fit right no matter what I did, so I'll just have to live with it. I'm very happy with my first attempt at a vinyl top as well, and learned a lot for my next attempt. The color is FolkArt Metallic Peridot and is cleared with Decoart Americana Duraclear Gloss Clear, and the top is FolkArt Hunter Green, both sprayed through my airbrush. The interior is a combo of FolkArt Hunter Green and Basil Green, and Apple Barrel Marsh Green. All trim is done with Bare Metal Foil, and I added gauge decals and door locks for extra detail. The chassis was painted Apple Barrel Jet Black and I used some Aluminum and Terra Cotta craft paint for the weathering. I used the kit rims and the tires from the 1986 Monte Carlo SS kit with decals from Fireball Modelworks. The engine is craft paint as well with plug wires added for extra detail, although I now regret the choice of using green because of the body color for them. Thanks for looking, and see you all next year!!

  20. That does seem appropriate, it is more like a tank than a car. Your build thread is well done and very informative, I can't believe I missed it earlier in the year. I saved the link for future reference as I most surely will pick this kit up sometime soon. You did a fantastic job on it!
