  1. That's a great color for the interior, I wish I had that when I did mine. My wife custom mixed some Testors enamels for me to get the right color, this was before I started using craft paints myself. The interior tubs on these kits are atrocious as far as details go, and I might try some things when I do the Burgundy one. I have a bottle of Pledge because I use it as a clear on some things, but I still haven't taken the 30 seconds to fill a small container to dip windshields yet, lol. The Icy Blue is a great color and your paint job looks fantastic. Hopefully your final assembly goes smooth, that's where I almost threw mine back in the box, but I soldiered on, lol.
  2. Great stuff!!
  3. Looks good in that color!
  4. Well, I'm both humbled and speechless, lol. I've certainly been inspired myself by others' works, but never knowingly been the inspiration, but I'm definitely honored and glad to have been able to. I like what you've done with the body fixes so far, and am certain you will at least match, and probably surpass my example. I will definitely be watching your build thread with great interest. I really like these cars in 1:1 and have the 1/16 scale MPC Trans Am kit that will be done in as close to the Atlantis Blue as I can get, and have this planned for my other build of this kit, whenever I feel like tackling it's issues again, lol.
  5. I bought two, but have only built one so far and I used the same color, Testors Icy Blue. Mine wasn't too bad, but it's still a very challenging kit with poor details. The windshield and final body/chassis/interior fit are the worst. I built mine , but wasn't happy with it so I did a hurry up and finish job on it. I then took it back apart about 8 months later and did more details, put on some aftermarket 20" Snowflakes, and got the final fit more to where I'm happy with it.
  6. I like the idea of getting the coke vending machines, cases and dollies, and whatever other goodies they want to include in the kit, even though I haven't bought a Coca-Cola kit yet. I will probably buy this one even though I'm not overly into pickup trucks, and I'll also probably grab the Racer's Wedge truck, it is a nice looking subject and of course the bonus vending machine for my diorama and/or photo background garage.
  7. What an awesome collection of Cobra's!! Absolutely fantastic!!
  8. Nicely done! I bought two of these in October, one to do as Dom's and the other pretty much factory stock.
  9. Looks good! I like the color combo!
  10. Thanks! I first started using them for chassis and interiors, but within the last year have been using them a lot on bodies, with an almost endless selection of colors and ease of custom mixing as well. I mainly use the metallics on street car bodies and have used a variety of clears on them successfully. My main reason for using them was to be able to airbrush them in the house, especially during the winter. I still like to use spray cans, but only during the warmer months when I can spray them in the shed. Thanks guys!
  11. Very nice, looks great! I can see the difference in front ends compared to my kit version where my Thunderbat decal didn't sit right. I like the extra details you added, especially on the tires.
  12. Very nice, and a classic color scheme! Mine had the molding issue on the passenger front wheelwell, but a piece of styrene strip and some putty fixed it pretty good. Once you get past that and trim all the flash, it's actually a pretty nice kit. Hopefully they fixed that molding problem for the full bumper release.
  13. The details on this are outstanding!! And I love the color!
  14. I needed a set for my Gumball Rally movie car project and couldn't find any for a reasonable price. I had the Revell kit with the red box art with the wire wheels, so I just bought another kit, the Revell Streetburner kit. I almost bought a set from 3D Model Specialties by rolsen01 on Shapeways, but I love Cobras so I just bought another one, LOL.
  15. I built this one (not very well) as a youngster back in the early-mid 80's. I loved the kit, I just didn't have the patience or skills as a, I think, 14 or 15 year old when I built it, LOL. Now that I've been back building for the last 3 years, this has become my "Grail Kit"!
  16. Just a quick build of the Bill Elliott Thunderbat. Painted in Apple Barrel Jet Black craft paint and cleared with Decoart Duraclear Gloss Varnish, then decaled, then cleared with Pledge Floor Gloss. The interior/cage/chassis was just left in the Rustoleum 2X black primer. I know these are supposed to be red in as raced trim, but I think the flat black gives it a better Batman-like appearance. I didn't do much detailing on this one as I just wanted to test a few techniques and check the gloss of the clear for another project. Anyways, I'm happy with the outcome and it will look good in my display case. Thanks for looking!!
  17. Any of these three would definitely hurt my wallet!
  18. I can see Cooter's Tow Truck selling, possibly better in non-Dukes livery. The Ventura II Sprint and Fast Pack Grand Prix seem to have a bit of a following on these forums, so those would probably do well. The AMT Petty Race Team would probably sell good as well, since those Trucks seem to be a popular item at the moment and one can usually do no wrong when it comes to Richard Petty based kits. My personal faves would be the Red Alert and SSlasher Chevelle's and depending on if the MPC SS454 could be built stock, or any 1971/1972 Chevelle kit for that matter. I'm actually a little surprised any one of the Chevelle's hasn't been re-issued recently yet. Of course, my big hope is Revell continues it's course of re-issuing it's Muscle Car lineup and includes the '70 GTX, '68 and/or '69 GTO, 1970 Chevelle/Malibu SS454, and 1979/80/81 Camaro Z28 3'N 1 kit.
  19. Nice one, looks great! I love the color and those massive meats in the back! Well done!
  20. Looks good! Hopefully AMT/Round 2 has this one in their re-issue plans!
  21. Looks good! One of my favorite kits from my youth.
  22. It's definitely much more brownish than I thought. Even though I dried overnight the wet clear coat instantly 'melted' the smoke layer in certain areas. Ideally I would do 2-3 very light mist coats of clear on top when using smoke or other clear colors. Thanks for the info! I have a few ideas for using the Smoke over an aluminum/light gunmetal paint scheme, so definitely some spoon tests coming in the future, lol.
  23. Well done!
  24. That looks good! I always wondered what Tamiya Smoke would look like sprayed over an aluminum/silver/gunmetal base. That dull red looks good as an interior color too.
  25. Looks good!
