  1. Any day that gets one done is a good day.
  2. Ethanol has less energy per gallon than gasoline. (Gasoline has less energy per gallon than diesel.) It takes more energy to CREATE ethanol than it gives back when burned. (So much for saving the planet, Al Gore) Ethanol is only cheaper than gasoline because it is heavily subsidized by the government. It also raises the price of corn products due to the artificial demand. It utilizes productive farmland to produce fuel rather than food. Ethanol eats natural rubber products and corrodes aluminum. Thus, car manufacturers had to change materials used in cars to prevent the deteriorating effects. From a HIGH performance perspective, E85 can make big power comparable to racing gasoline at a lower cost. However this is not applicable in normal passenger vehicles. When ethanol was first introduced to the driving public, it caused problems with the alcohol dissolving varnish build up in older vehicles resulting in clogged fuels systems. However, this issue is no longer prevalent. Just my 2 cents worth.
  3. I like that idea
  4. Remove just enough from the middle and live with the seam.
  5. Here is my very recent Root Beer Brown Chevelle in sunlight. It is very pretty color.
  6. WOW! Thanks for the tutorial! I just spent 2 hours editing out all the html garbage so I could print this out and put it in my kit box.
  7. NEW? Testors lacquers leaking? Like the the Root Beer Brown Metallic?
  8. You are doing an awesome job of modifying AND explaining what you are doing. I look forward to your continued progress.
  9. I will be following. I have heard about the rear bumper being too wide. I did not know about the 67 chassis thing. I want to build every GTO '64 to '74. I am missing '71, '73 and '74. I will probably convince a '72 to become a '71. (maybe get her a fake ID)
  10. I agree. It is a very pretty red. I can't wait to unmask the white and decal it!
  11. You are excellent at weathering. I like the texture of the concrete and the dusting on the tires.
  12. I would suggest using Testors windowmaker. I wicks really well and dries clear. It also helps with the piece appearing attached instead of floating.
  13. I decided to be brave and paint today in spite of the humidity. Heated the room to 86 degrees (which drops the relative humidity) and sprayed away. So far everything looks like it will be OK. I had to change the red I was going to use on the frame. My original color would not come out of the can. I has been 6 years since I used it last. Good thing I had an alternate that is close enough.
  14. Roland, the longer you wait the better the chance of success. You may have to wait weeks or even months. If you do not have that kind of patience, it will be best to test on scrap and see what results you get. The next suggestion is Future (clear) over your base color. It will NOT react with your base paint. You can then try shooting your transparent top coat over that. As far as the Testors 1261, while it IS a lacquer, I have not had any adverse reactions in the limited times I have used it. (Your results may vary)
  15. I am in for the ride. Are you submitting it for the 2020 BRBO?
  16. Chainbox masked and ready for paint.
  17. Way Cool Tool kit!!!
  18. I like your PVC tank idea. I can make them any length I want. Too bad it doesn't come in chrome.
  19. You can get a bazzilion opinions on this but... The consensus is lacquers have "hotter" solvents and will reactivate enamels causing problems. There are exceptions. Long cured enamels are less prone the reactivation. Also some lacquers are hotter than others. It is basically a trial by error thing.
  20. Not really. I am kinda fond of it still.
  21. Just got my trailer kit on sale for less than $20 with free shipping.
  22. Just got my order from freetimehobbies.com $63 plus free shipping. (Under $16 per kit)
