  1. That's a nice beater. Nice work on that crew cab conversion keeping everything straight and square. Times have really changed. I remember back in the 70s and 80s the only owners of crew cab trucks were the military, the forest service and the railroad. If you somehow ended up with one of those, you were stuck with it. You couldn't give one away. In the summer of '19 I went shopping for a truck, walked in and said I want a regular cab long bed truck. They all looked at me like I was from another planet. Needless to say I had to settle for an extra cab short bed. That dump bed is a nice touch also, cant beat that for doing yard work and hauling.
  2. Thanks for all the positive comments guys. I'm hoping to make some good progress on this over the next few days. This has been a fun build/experiment so far. But I always consider every model I do an experiment and a learning experience.
  3. Brian, thanks for that tip. I haven't been up close and personal with one of these. Still gotta do a bit more research here, sort of making it up as I go.
  4. Looks great. You captured that workhorse look real nice. Trailers look good also, I especially like the car hauler. That rusty header pipe is a nice touch too.
  5. That turned out nice. I picked up one of these at Hobby Lobby a few years back, they were practically giving them away. Like the rest of the pile, I'll get to it one of these days, or maybe years.
  6. Looks great all around. Strange how the exhaust appears to come up through the bed floor, custom option with stacks coming up behind the cab? Would be nice if they could scare up the tooling for this kit. I would be good for a couple.
  7. I went to Hobby Lobby this afternoon, it was a mob scene. Found this 1/16 57 Chevy kit. Too bad they didn't brace up the windshield frame as well on the 57 T Bird kit. Looks like a good kit overall.
  8. I'm with you on the XJ. Surprised no one ever kitted them up. You would think it would be a good seller.
  9. I know what you mean about this kit. This was the first truck I butchered when I was a young 'un back in the early 70s. Wish I still had all my old models from back then, but like most of us they met their demise with fireworks. But now that I am older and supposedly wiser I just finished up an original W925 kit I scored at a swap meet. It does have some short comings but with a bit of work/re engineering here and there they can look good. It should look good in Plum Crazy, just something about a big purple truck, and I mean that in a good way. These AMT truck kits are not that bad overall, you do have the internet now which is the best tool ever for model building. Will check in here from time to time and see how it's coming along. Have fun...
  10. Hello gang, I finally made a bit more progress on my end dump. Got the plate and pivot points for the king pin sorted, don't know the technical term for it. I know it's not entirely accurate but have been going off of some less than stellar photos I found off the net. Guess you can call it artistic license. Still have a long way to go on it but I am happy with how it's coming along so far. Just glad I actually got it to work. Still have to add a couple gussets on the king pin plate and make cross braces for the sub frame. Also need to do something about the cylinder, need one with an extra stage. Hoping to come up with one that actually telescopes. I was hoping to have it done by the end of the year but that is kinda doubtful. It looks to have a good stance when mounted to the tractor, I hope this is 3/4 of the battle. Hope to have more updates over the next couple weeks. As always, comments or suggestions welcome.
  11. Is this what you are thinking of? I bought these off of a Cornwell tool truck years ago. Good for pulling radiator and heater hoses. Don't know if they are still available.
  12. 1977 or 78 Aerosmith at McNichols Arena in Denver. 5th row, mostly hearing feedback from the crowd. Not that great of a show.
  13. Nice work on both of those. Reminds me of years ago I worked at a Hi-Ranger dealer. I'm not the best with heights, it was always a bit unnerving going up 50 ft. in one of those buckets. That truck looked like it was 1:25 scale down below.
  14. That turned out very nice. And I agree, nice pics.
  15. This is nice. Some good engineering you have going on here. Scratch building really eats up time, like wow, that was a fast 2 or 3 hours. Gonna be a good looking blower.
  16. No such luck here in Denver either. Too bad, wouldn't mind getting that Coke trailer for $29.95.
  17. Got this Revell 77 Firebird painted tonight. Got a few dust specs in it but looks to have a good shine. Looking to replicate a Trans am my sister had many years ago.
  18. Very nice. Like the used but not abused look.
  19. Superb job on this. That is a good idea to make the fenders, I never woulda thought of that.
  20. Superb job all around. Super smooth foil work, and nice touch on the rubber gasket around the windshield.
  21. Great work there. I have one of these somewhere in my pile, haven't decided what color to paint it.
  22. This is too cool. Gonna have to follow this one.
  23. Nice work on that. Smooth black paint. That was a funny movie. I WANT MY 2 DOLLARS!!!!!!!!
  24. Looks like someone has too much time on their hands. That warning likely means someone tried to eat that.....
