  1. Yep....showed some light spots of the red paint underneath so I masked off the red, mixed up the paint (actually a different black paint), got everything ready to spray and boink, the compressor just quit. (BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH cheap Harbor Freight one I have been using just for the occasional spraying for a few years). Luckily I have another old tankless compressor that I have had for many years and it worked just fine. It came out very smooth and actually flawless. Probably will clear it tomorrow afternoon. Another good thing that came out of the compressor conking out, the Wife said "guess you need to shop for a new one for Fathers Day.?
  2. Thanks Mark. I'm gonna try the sanding. I'm always afraid to sand the craft paint too much. BTW, my clear of choice lately has been the Rustoleum Crystal Clear acrylic lacquer.
  3. I haven't had a problem with it sticking, maybe its old?? Many on here will discuss this with you I'm sure.
  4. Ahh, a car from my old stomping grounds (southern Louisiana). Looks great Dan?
  5. Looks cool TJ, also my favorite T'bird.?
  6. Mike.....what don't you like about the black? Want doesn't show up in the pictures is the roughness. I really think I need to fine sand it a bit and recoat it (although I'm kind of ready to move on to another model). I suppose after the sanding I could clear it to see how it looks tho.
  7. Looks good to me Declan and as for the foil, it really is the best way to deplicate chrome trim....just takes practice and using the masking tape "guide" method.
  8. I've been using the Hobby Lobby "Extreme Power" medium and thick glue. Cheap "Original Super Glue" from Dollar Tree and Tamiya (also from Hobby Lobby) Extra Thin liquid al with great results. I know there has been a number of threads about glues but I just thought I'd say this.
  9. Finally got the redo second color coat (the red) on and it came out pretty darn smooth. Now tho, I'm not happy with the black?
  10. I see now its the Impy, but it looked so good; well shoot. I'm not having a great deal of luck with my '55. I did manage to get the second color redone and now I'm not satisfied with the 1st color. I'm gonna post a couple of pics in my WIP later tbhis evening.
  11. Whoa Bob, did you strip the red off the Nova???
  12. As a bit of a '57 Chevy purist, I'm not fan of extreme mods but with that being said, I'm sure the direction you are going will come out pretty cool.
  13. Wow Craig, great job on the wheels. I've never tried spraying the Molotow but will have a need to in the future on my replica '66 SS Chevelle build. I have to remove the gawd-aweful bumper guards on the bumpers so will probably strip all the chrome off and repaint with the Molotow. I am wondering tho for any of the other Molotow users, will the chrome shine last a long time or dull out?? I started using the Stynylrez also and like it as well. Thanks for replying.
  14. Looks great Alan?, I remember I had an uncle who had a 1:1 exactly like it.
  15. Yer welcome Chaz. I got sidetracked again on my '55. I just need to get the second color of paint redone and just can't push myself to do it.
  16. Looks like a little orange peel but not much, For me, it's about as far as I would go with the sanding, but that's just me.
  17. Yikes, stripes?
  18. Looking good Craig. Do you like the Stynylrezmprimer and what paint is the topcoat....If I may ask.
  19. Yep, some very nice vehicles there Bob. We are in a relatively small town too with a courthouse in the town square but only one cruise-in a year in conjunctionn with other festivities. Shame, cause there a lot of nice cars around here.
  20. Well Bruce, I am a Porsche fan but I gotta say, the side profile of that model is odd looking. You said you compared this model to 5 others like it.....are you saying you actually have 5 others??
  21. I'm-a waiting to see it buddy!!?
  22. Agree, I'd like to see an underhood pic!!
  23. Seldom look at heavier trucks on here but that is a very nice build!! Very nice job Keith?
  24. Thanks Chaz, I'm wondering tho if the craft paint will adhere to the clear
