  1. Gorgeous Nova! Amazing photographic work/ lighting.
  2. This ‘41 Willys gasser was my first attempt at candy apple red using Tamiya rattle can lacquers, TS-74 transparent red over TS-21 gold. I clear costed it with TS-13. I have this same Revell kit that I plan to build someday as the Stone-Woods-Cook rival car and rattle can paint it Tamiya transparent blue over silver leaf.
  3. Ok, look's like my Nova posting worked so here's another recent build. This is the Moebius kit, built OOB except for the after market resin carbs, aluminum velocity stacks and pre-wired distributor and odd PE, springs and wires. I used the large kit decals based on a very good experience with the Moebius "California Flash" kit which were fantastic too work with and, even though they were white, ended up being very opaque when. applied over an orange base. While also excellent for color and opaqueness, these Melrose Missile decals ended up being much more difficult to apply and settle down. The scoop decal was slightly undersized so I had to use blue touch-up paint around the edges. Tamiya light metallic blue (TS-54) ended up being a pretty good match for these decals. Other than decals, this Moebius kit (like their other '65 Plymouth kits) assembles with little fuss. I tend to build at least two kits at a time so I always have something to work on while I'm waiting for paint to cure. I have a '65 Chevelle SS (Kelly Chadwick) and a '64 Thunderbolt (Gas Ronda) in process and will post these hopefully in the near future. It's really nice to have so many great early 60's super stock drag car kits out there, it seems like I'm more limited these days by appropriate decals that are available. John
  4. Ok, please bear with me, this is my first attempt at posting a build here so I'll try to make it brief and hopefully succeed at posting photos. This is the 1/25 AMT/ Round 2 kit, mostly OOB other than a Fireball resin Holley, a Detail Master pre-wired distributor and a few PE parts and wires and an enlarged oil pan. I masked and painted the roof stripes because I was painting a two-tone anyways. AMT/ Round 2 included fabulous looking decals with this kit (Cartograph quality) but, as with previous recent AMT kits, I seem to have a curse with them fracturing badly when exposed to water. I even applied two coats of Microset decal restoration fluid on this set and they still self-destructed. SLIXX came to my rescue on this build. I tried to build Bill "Grumpy" Jenkin's first Nova stock drag car to NHRA 1966 A/S rules (battery in stock location, stock exhaust in place but headers allowed), but it's hard to find good under hood and under carriage reference photos of any of Grump's race cars so I likely have some inaccuracies here. Also, I avoided the '666' numbering on this build to avoid that "Damien thing" that my wife would likely bring up....fun build, still not tired of building 60's SS'ers. Cheers, John
  5. Really weird.....the first 1:1 car image is the exact car I learned how to drive in and took my DMV test in in like 1969, my mom's '66 Malibu, even the same color (although think she always had whitewalls on it.....and the second 1:1 car image is the CAR I CURRENTLY LUST FOR (new 5.0 'Stang in arrest-me red)! (I drive a 4 cyl maaaazda....an old guy can still dream....)
  6. Russ, Dave, Thanks for responding. When I tried signing up on my iPhone 7 or MacBook PRO (2019 model), I got the error message shown in the attached screenshot, “reCAPTCHA”. When I googled a fix, I was instructed to temporarily change my IP address settings to get around it. I did this in both my phone and laptop with no success. It could be related to our miserable Spectrum (charter cable) router/ service. Anyways, problem solved for me. Looking forward to posting a few RFI builds later today.
  7. Forgive me for posting this comment if it’s old info. I’ve been trying to join this forum for years using my Mac or iPhone with no luck due to the Mac incompatible aspect of the security part of the sign up.I signed up this morning on my wife’s Windows OS laptop and it worked! Now I’m able to log-in and post using my Mac. Problem solved! I have been posting for a few years on Britmodeller (wonderful forum but mostly fern cars) and FSM (nice folks but somewhat of a wasteland for auto modelers). Really looking forward to posting builds and sharing comments on this board of incredibly talented builders. John
