  1. I find Testors rubber good for simulating old grease and oil leaks- also good for mixing with steel and other metallics to alter the tone. I agree with Rusty- go with your eyes, and don't be afraid to experiment. Thinned down, the rubber also makes a good wash, and can also look like old rust. Military colors can be useful in untypical applications.
  2. This is the AMT Chrysler which could be built as a roadster pickup with removable top. Gotta love some of the build options AMT thought of! I built this one about 30 years ago.

    pony up

You certainly know how to translate an idea into reality! Keep them coming!
  4. Just got my end of a trade- AMT's 1949 Ford. I need another project like a hole in the head, but I was thinking of using it as a beginning for a Dodge Firearrow.
  5. Mike, how about dual 4 bbl carbs? Another idea- low profile modern supercharger with a rear intake set up.
  6. You don't see enough custom Willys- this one is as good as it gets- now- who's going to build it full size? I have always though the Willys coupes were like a 40 Ford with a 3 window coupe body.
  7. Luxury and speed- can't beat 'em!
  8. Never knew about the full size 4wd Deuce- this looks very interesting- I will follow! Any thoughts yet on performance mods to the engine?
  9. Hmmmmm-Apply large amounts of chocolate to a motorcycle, then try to escape from the irate owner?
  10. I have one question about the Supra-Charger- where does the suction hose plug in?
  11. I made a couple of successful trades today, with more pending. Good to find new homes for things you know you will never do anything with. Decluttering is a good way to refocus on the projects that really interest you.
  12. Interesting from a hobby history standpoint, but I wouldn't want to build it!
  13. Has anyone put a fifties hemi in a postwar power wagon?
  14. Years go I bought a set of white metal disc brakes with calipers from Herb Deeks. Also, a lot of Nascar kits had pretty generic disc brakes- maybe someone has some to trade.
  15. I finally resolved the area of the inside front fenders. I realized that plastic spoon tips might be the answer! So, out came the razor saw, then the sanding sticks, and the resulting fit was nearly perfect! Sadly, I learned from another thread that Ted "Chopper" Lear passed away late last year. Another grievous loss to our modeling community. This thread is now dedicated to his memory and his love of long, sleek, and low customs. Now I HAVE to finish this project!
  16. Bill, thanks for the additional info- forum members love to share!
  17. The instructions are pretty vague except that it's a hemi- no displacement mentioned. The date range you suggest would be consistent with the time line of the first release of the kit, which was the early -mid sixties.
  18. Do any of the hemi experts know what year the hemi in the AMT 1953 Studebaker represents? I want to use one in another project and the date could be important.
  19. I just learned from browsing another thread that Ted "Chopper Lear has passed. A true master of the long smooth custom.
  20. There is the possibility a kitbasher could eventually come out even- all the parts used, nothing left over, no more parts stash- naaaaaaaaah!
  21. Those are all great drawings! You should get them framed! By all means, try drawing again!
  22. Astounding! Will be following and waiting for more!
  23. Not one to make new year's resolutions, so I'll keep it simple. Keep working on the egg crate grille and the car behind it. Keep working on the big boat ,trailer, and also do some detailing on the power wagon. Keep working on the 62 T-bird, Opel GT, and Lincoln Continental with a cut down 32 Ford grille. Eventually start on the new 29 Ford model A. Maybe start on the AMT 3 in 1 runabout. And can't forget my vision of the ultimate deuce roadster. Oh yeah, the Maisto Bugatti Chiron that needs disc brakes........ Then there's my stash!
