  1. The body mods are looking great! When they built this, I wonder if they started with an old flower car. David G.
  2. That's one sweet looking tractor! Day-one fresh. David G.
  3. That's going to be so cool when it's done, can't wait to see it! David G.
  4. That's going to be one impressive vehicle when it's done. Over about the last ten years or so I've been working on converting the Ecto 1-A into a hearse. I work on it until I hit my skill limit then set it aside until my skills catch up with my ambitions. Here's a link to the WIP on it. I can't wait to see where you go with yours. David G.
  5. Thank you Pierre, I think it does too but I've already committed to installing it Thanks again, David G.
  6. Hello Everybody! I've hit the point with this build where I need to have done with it. I need to stop fiddling around with it and just march toward the finish line. After all the disassembly and adjustment, the door fits better but it's still not perfect. I think I'm just going to have to accept what I've been able to accomplish and move on to the next activity. The door is made up of three parts, each of which has to align with the other two pieces. Between the outer door skin and the chassis of the door, the wire for the closing mechanism needs to be sandwiched so it can move freely along an inner guide between them. As all of this is being assembled, the whole mess has to be floated into the body of the car while the wire closure and hinge are kept in proper alignment and free of binding in order to work properly. At this point, I've attained the extent of what my skill can accomplish and I must move on to the next activity. Besides, I can always display it with the door open. As always, thanks for following along and please feel free to post a comment or two. David G.
  7. Wow! That is a lot of custom fabrication! David G.
  8. Excellent work on this John, everything looks like it's coming along quite nicely. Thanks for the foil application tip too. David G.
  9. Excellent progress Kurt! Could the mystery part be a heater box? David G.
  10. Nice work on the aluminum fabrication. Nothing looks more like metal than metal. Just a guess on the source, printing plates? The texture doesn't look right though. David G.
  11. That turned out great, beautiful paint job! I built one of these back when I restarted in the hobby and used the exact same color combination. I wanted to use Orchid Gray but couldn't find a match at the time. It's a very fun kit to build. David G.
  12. It turned out great Mario! I love your lighted backdrop too. David G.
  13. A very cool build so far. David G.
  14. Nicely Done Niko! I'll look for it in the Under Glass section. David G.
  15. Good work on the wiring. Aside from the occasional model railroad and car kit, I started building again around 2010. For the first few years I wired and plumbed almost all of my builds. But as time went by, I did so less and less. I think that for me, the added time and potential frustration of the additional and largely unnecessary work was detracting from the pleasure of the hobby. Without pleasure a hobby becomes just a job that you don't get paid for. David G.
  16. I'm not sure if I ever would have thought to think of using stretched sprue as a replacement for wire. If I did, I wouldn't have been able to get the sprue stretched so evenly and consistently. I'm interested to see how this works in the long run. David G.
  17. Great progress on this! David G.
  18. I love all the little details you add to your builds Kurt. David G.
  19. Thanks Trevor, I'm still working on it but I'm thinking I need to accept what I've been able to do and move on before I mess something up. David G.
  20. Too cool! Every little thing. Just Too Cool! David G.
  21. Sharp work on the foil Niko! Great looking detail in the engine bay too! David G.
  22. Fabulous work on this one Pat! Excellent mods, all exceedingly well done! It's good to see it back on the bench and nearly complete. David G.
  23. Beautiful color you picked for the body! The interior looks great too! David G.
  24. Good progress on this one Joe. Question, do you plan on using blue for the engine, the body or both? David G.
  25. Hello Everybody! I'm getting close to wrapping up this build. I was ready to shoot the final paint on Sunday but the wind kicked up and it's been blowey for the past two days. Since I paint outside on my patio, windy days are no-paint days. In the mean time... The side pipes are chunky and lack detail. I thought about redoing them using a smaller diameter "pipe" and adding heat shields but I decided that doing that would go against my original intention of keeping this a simple rebuild using mainly what's provided by the kit. But I did drill out the ends and repair them using some 1/16" styrene rod to replace the broken mounting pins. Here are the side pipes all painted up and ready to install. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post a comment if you're so inclined. David G.
