Hmm. I didn't know that BMF wouldn't be considered part of the build process, like paint. I thought that was universally allowed. The reason I posted this thread is, I just got another AMT '57 Ford "Flashback" kit at Ollies and I wanted to build it to match the box art. I figured that maybe I would enter box stock with it at some point, but I was thinking it should have a roll bar and I am going to build it with BMF. I could forget the roll bar, but I am not going to build a kit with that much chrome and not use BMF.

It is my understanding that "Box Stock" class models have to be built using only what is in the box. No parts upgrades or changes, detail parts, etc. The class focuses on build and paint quality. Is it legal to use the sprue included in the kit to create a roll bar, if there isn't one included in the kit and you are building a drag version that should have one? The sprue is included in the box, but is scratch building, even with included items, allowed?

This is really nice! Great stance, vintage engine, color and wheel/tire combo.

I checked my local Ollies, I got 3 '69 Chevelles and 3 '57 Fords. Here is what is at the Airport Road store in Allentown, Pa, they are pretty well stocked, but 90% of this will be gone by Saturday, if not sooner. I did not check the Tilghman St store because I am guessing they will have pretty much the same stuff and I already got what I wanted here.

Generally, I have been lucky to find things at Ollies, but when I do, I get anything I may want for parts or whatever when I see it because you don't get a second chance. Realistically, these are OK deals if you don't have the kit already or you want parts out of it, but I don't see how you could make much $$$ reselling, at least not right away.

This build is beyond model building and closer to art. -

A hard kit to build, but you make it look good! I have one started from an earlier issue, mine is going to be close to the "Old Pro" box art. -

Another beautiful build! Super job!

That "wet teddy bear" one mentioned above is asinine. I also can't stand the Pop Tarts one with "Curtis" who "likes Pesto". There are many others that are just as bad. Luckily, I record most shows on regular TV that have commercials, so I just fast forward through the nonsense.

Nice job! Great paint and decals!

Great job! I should get one of these.....

Are you looking to fit the original tires? If so, The original Monogram '36 Ford has a set of stock steel wheels with center caps. If you are using modern tires, the Monogram Beach Boys '32 Ford Coupe and some later issues of the roadster have a nice set of chromed steel wheels that can be used with or without hubcaps.

Glad some people like these, but I remember the original issues and they were vague and also had crappy 2 piece tires. This one is marginally better because of the decals. I guess it is good they reissued it because they were getting pretty big money for the older ones on ebay. However, I would have MUCH rather seen the Monogram off road van issued.

Can anyone identify a source for this?

The original issue Monogram 1934 Ford had a nice set of wire wheels kind of like those, even molded in burgundy/maroon. Probably not that easy to find though.......... -

Cool back story. The weathering looks spot on and the Olds engine, interior parts and wheels look great! -
Excellent job!
