  1. I spent another evening cursing at my 36 Ford! I have screwed on the chassis and removed it again at least three times.
  2. Just a little chuckle when I logged into the board… they have a better model collection than we do! ?
  3. This one was built from the first issue with the purple body. Our club did a group build and I enjoyed just playing with ideas on the body and paint detailing the interior. And if anyone acts up, I’ll pull out the Rusty Corvette! ?
  4. I’ve caught glimpses of this as I’ve driven down Rt33 in NJ. I was never on the right side of the highway (going home) during daylight. So today I stopped for a look and a few pix. There was an old barn there that looked like it was going to fall down any minute for the past 30 years. And it finally did and there was a 50ish Chevy pickup inside. Slightly beyond restoration!
  5. When I was a youngster all of a sudden kids were talking about "Pink Floyd". There was an R&B Motown guy called "King Floyd" and I thought it was the same thing. I couldn't understand why everyone was raving about that guy! LOL ?
  6. Canadians are like Americans, but with manners! ?
  7. And Steve remember he’s 80 years old! Folks be patient, you’re lucky he’s helping folks!
  8. Here’s two of my three display cases. Both were unwanted cabinets I got for free. I added $200 worth of extra shelves, one between each existing shelf. One suggestion to the folks who build a model a week with no extra detail, is to slow down and add more details. Spend more time in prep, make each model better than the last. This way you will have less models to display or store, but real jewels!
  9. Back in the day when I worked for evil corporation number one, I got a panic call from my director to come to his office. On his desk was a twisted mess of a model of a sculling boat. The VP we worked for had decided that a sculling boat was the symbol of his division’s teamwork. The directors had ordered this boat to be built in our company colors, complete with lettered glass display case. They ordered this from a company in England who did them for sculling championships. And it arrived smashed to pieces! And he had full confidence I could fix it! I had a phone conversation with the company in England. The model was all cast in pewter. The body was heavy and had come loose and smashed all the delicate parts. They sent me a full set of the outriggers and several tins of Humbrol matching paint. It was a real pain! All the outriggers had broke clean at the body and the stubs needed to be drilled out. I blew through a bunch of drill bits. A couple weeks of spare evenings with a deadline for presenting it to the VP.. no pressure there! i got it done. Presentation went well. All 5 directors each gave me a “Spot Award” which included a $100 Amex gift card.
  10. The story of my life! Once was involved with a project. I warned two youngsters that they needed to do something different or they’d fail.. and explained exactly what would happen! They ignored me and they failed. It went exactly as I said it would! Idiots went screaming to management that I sabotaged them since I exactly predicted the result!
  11. I’ve been recording movies off Turner Broadcast Network to watch when I can. I started doing this at beginning of the pandemic. Turner owns a huge catalog of old movies you never heard of. The station pretty much plays these nonstop with no commercials. And it’s a free channel on my Verizon Fios. When I see old movies from the 1950s or earlier, I record. Some of them are bad, but it’s interesting to see what was done in the early days. One movie was “Her Man” from 1930. It was set in Havana and had a decent storyline. Probably scandalous in it’s day!
  12. Ha! Looks like it was loaded in Pakistan! We’ve all seen those pictures!
  13. Looks great! Love the slant six!
  14. I never was a fan of the Revell tri-fives. They were over ambitious in their day and a large source of frustration for kids. Today there are so many better choices.
  15. I’m wondering if Atlantis may have this old tool… The SS United States is a favorite of mine. The ship was retired in 1968 but still exists and is docked here in Philly. It’s awaiting use as a permanent monument of some sort. Companies and proposals come and go. I am a member of the foundation.
  16. Promo would have the same parts. The Buick wagon kit isn’t rare and I see old built ups going cheap. Best to watch and wait. The only part that’s rare is the correct tail lights. Every fricken one I’ve got is either missing them or has the custom ones!
