Did two tours of the two closest HL stores to me twice this week. Nothing new on the shelves and they haven't even filled the open shelves. Maybe next week after the 40 % off sale.

I have to agree with you. I got to retire early a few years ago and I feel like something is missing if I don't get to check in after breakfast in the morning. We recently moved and have been having some remodeling done on our new place. This has kept me away from the computer at times in the morning and with the painters this has at times meant days away. At times it has even felt like withdrawals. Great to follow what everyone else is building and I get some good ideas from what everyone else is building as well.

Beautiful looking Chrysler. I also like the color and the finish looks great. Clean looking chrome trim.
-
A well used looking finish.

Very realistic looking Fire Dept. car. That color of green works well for safety vehicles since it isn't seen in civilian vehicles.

Beautiful looking paint finish and the color also looks good on this body style. Nice clean looking Carbon Fiber side panels. The interior looks real sharp and your painted wheel look far better than the kit chrome. You mentioned a problem using Pledge on the windows. Not sure how you are mounting the parts when dipping but try a light touch of a paper towel along the bottom edge as the Pledge drips down. The towel will draw the excess Pledge away from the part.

Looks great. I thought these were pictures of an actual car at first.

I still have a really well oil'd handled one in the bottom drawer of my roll around. Just haven't gotten to use it in anger for many years.

Beautiful looking body conversion . I which I had the forethought to have gotten some of these but more doors didn't used to be so desirable as they are now. The paint finish and colors really look 1959 all over again.

If need be you could always notch the inner fenders with a 1/25th 8 lb. hammer. A short handled 8 lb hammer was a standard engine installation tool in the old days.

I like the Drag Stripe ready look.

Look forward to watching this build.

I like the paint finish and color. The chrome trim is all very cleanly done. Must have taken the better part on a sheet of Bare Metal Foil. Nice detailing of the lower tail lights in the rear bumper and the headlights. I like how you used the side glass as it adds a different over all look to the model. The interior has a very realistic looking finish.

This just keeps getting better looking. The Vent Window mounting issue was something of a draw back on this kit from day one. There never was a good positive mounting point so it was up to the builder to figure out something, your look good in the photo.

I like the changes you have made to the roof. This makes it look more feasible than the kits B Pillar. Would a bushed aluminum looking insert on the B Pillar fit with your design plan ?

Great looking build. I think this looks far better as a Fire Chief's car that the Chevrolet issued one. Nice smooth looking paint and the fire dept. decals all look as you would think they should be.
-
Beautiful looking Pontiac. The paint looks real smooth and the chrome trim is cleanly done. They look great without skirts as well and your idea of creating the wheel well opening moldings would make it look correct. Up until Disc Brakes Pontiacs with the 8 lug wheels look the best.

Foose 56 International?
espo replied to mchook's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Were it up to me I would leave the front bumper off all together. The OEM bumper I think was much like a Ford pick up of the time and that might look good with a little bend in it and scratched up. Would a Push Bumper be a consideration? The colors and the body shape looks just like the ones I remember seeing years ago. -
1957 Chevrolet 150 Black Widow

Looking at the photo of the Convertible the trim, what can be seen would indicate a Bel Air was used. First the chrome extension on the top of the rear fenders goes all the way to the base of the opening for the passenger compartment. These feature was only on cars with the Bel Air trim level since the 150 and 210 lines ended about a quarter of the way along that area. In the photo it is hard to tell of there is any trim inside the side panels or if it says Chevrolet or Bel Air near the back edge. There looks to be a lower chrome molding along the bottom edge of the body that wouldn't have been found on a 150 model. The front fenders look as if there is chrome trim just behind the headlights and that again was only on the Bel Air models. The "Fuel Injection" lettering is displayed on the front fender but this engine could be had in most body styles regardless of trim level. The six lug wheels are present so you would have to think that the Chevrolet HD packages of the day were also on this car. While looking at this picture it looks like it was always a Convertible, but there was a time when NASCAR had classes for both Convertible and Hardtops. Many teams would start with a Hardtop and make the top removable so that they could run the same car in both classes. Nice to see old photos of the real race cars from the time period and see just how little they were modified compared to the cars just a few years later on. -
I like wheel #3 my self. Offered a little contrast to the other colors. The real thin sunken front Bumpers look good to me.

The story about Bears and Bird Feeders has me wondering about something that has happened to us. We just moved to a newly developed area alongside a Golf Corse with a lot of open Farm land and a good sized creek running alongside the street on the side of our home. I like to put out bird feeders since I enjoy hearing the Birds singing. I had one feeder knocked down twice and I had to nail it back together and put it back up. Next time it was knocked down what ever was doing this also bent over the Sheppard's Hook that it was hanging from. This would have taken an animal of some size and weight and bigger than the Racoons that I was thinking of. Yesterday morning I looked out and something had gotten the Suet Black that I had up for the birds.

I think SCRWDRVR's story says it best. All of us that benefited from working and learning from someone older and more experienced than our selves should be thankful for their taking the time to show us how to do things in a better and quicker fashion.

Beautiful looking Black paint job. After seeing the problems you had with the clear I was afraid this might not show up. I like the decal on the back door, was that in the kit ? -
I agree with everyone else on the paint color combination as well as the finish. With the Continental Kit and the Skirts this looks a lot longer especially with the lowered suspension.

Great looking paint work. Toyota used to offer what they called a "Black Package" trim package that included a lot of the higher end interior options as well as the Black Metallic paint finish.
