Beautiful looking Impala. The paint finish looks great and the interior match if perfect. I knew a a guy in the mid '60's that had an Impala with this exact color combo. His was a 348 with 3x2's and a 4-speed. Your chrome trim looks very clean and I like the SS hub caps.

In addition to the color, being a convertible the white interior would be the most practical in the 1:1 world. Ask anyone who has ever owned a convertible what it's like to jump in the driver's seat when the top has been down on a sunny day. I still have the imprint of a '57 Ford Fairlane 500 on my hide and the interior was blue.

Look forward to seeing this. You have several cars in your files that I would love to build.

Your build is a great tribute to your pride and joy of a car.

Great looking photo. I like seeing some of the models that were still around at that time. IE: the Kiser next to the Chevrolet in the front row. Looks like a De Soto getting ready to turn left. The cab looks like one of the commercial long wheel base models that De Soto offered. The blue car in the next lane looks like a '50 Studebaker and another earlier model Study in maroon also. See the Packard behind the Buick at the top of the picture ? They are all in the drab post war colors.

Looks great and the color is era correct for this model.

Are you going to build your model with the wheels lug nuts exposed ? The '55 Chevrolet wheels should represent the '57 wheels as they are both 5 lug wheels. Now in full scale the '55's wheels are 15" diameter and the '57 wheels were the first year for the 14" wheels. In our model world the 1" difference doesn't seem to appear that I can tell. Another source for a factory appearing wheel would be the Revell '56 Chevrolet kit. The Revell '57 Black Widow 150 two door model has a 6 lug wheel that was correct for the subject it represents but not for the everyday passenger car of that time.

New Project – Revell 1969 Camaro Pace Car

Nice to see this build back front and center. Great job on the grill. -
Being a Revell tool I doubt that Round 2 would be doing a reissue of the '66 Chevelle Wagon. I have built the '66 Chevelle a couple of times and the only thing I found fault with was the big block engine. That was never offered in that model in the OEM world. We can always switch engines from another kit if we need a big block and I would rather have had a well detailed small block. The Hood is an easy correction by using the hood from the '66 El Camino. That car could be had new with all of the SS equipment but without the full SS trim and many people would put the SS style hood on their El Caminos anyway. Round 2 has done a great job with the reissue of the '65 Chevelle wagon. AMT had a model of an early Buick Special Wagon that included a small U-Haul type trailer and an A Frame style engine lift as well as other parts. Anyone else think that might make an interesting reissue ?

I picked up a couple of distributors today that are from Parts by Parks. Theirs include an aluminum coil and some material to make boots for the wires. They also offer several different colored wire sets. There are many others out there but my local Hobby Haven always has a good selection in stock whenever I need one.

Great looking build. I also like the paint color and the finish. Lots of nice details on the interior. -
Explaining your painting technique for the interior is interesting. The interior finish is very realistic looking in the photos. Very cleanly built. and great looking paint finish.

2wd conversion for Blazer/Jimmy?
espo replied to cargostar's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Might want to look at one of the Chev./GMC 2 wd pickup kits of the same model year. -
The last friction models I remember were 1956 models of a Dodge and a Buick that I had as a child. Can't be 100 % sure they were the last ones offered, just the last ones I had as a child so long ago.

I always enjoy looking at the way you weather / age your builds. Nice looking tires.

Great interior detailing.

I like your grill detail and wish it was a little more visible. The detailing of the trailer floor looks very realistic. -
While not an OEM color the Purple plastic actually looks good. What colors are you going to use ??

I guess "first cars" always hold a special place in our hearts. From the pictures it looks to be in really good condition. Not to make you feel bad, but even if the engine were shot it may have been worth your while to save up to have it overhauled. No I don't think you would ever hope to recoup the expense but any nice sunny day driving a convertible with the top down and the wind in your hair is a good day. Early on in life I had a '57 Ford convertible. While it was a low mileage one owner car it hadn't had the best of care and I spent far more on it than I should have, but I had the time of my life with that old you know what of a car.
