That would make more sense than a soft drink maker.

Great looking build. I like the style and it's nice to see something other than a small block engine. Thanks to you and randyc for mentioning the fitment issue. I have one of the original issues of this kit and I may even get around to it someday.

Nice to see that you're back on this one. I like how you did the grill it looks great and the headlights look more realistic done this way. -
1/25 cables for Tow Trucks?
espo replied to Andrew D the Jolly Roger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Check any local HL, Michel's, or any where else that sells Jewelry making supplies. They have all kinds of wire, chains, Think pick up tail gate chains and much more. -
This kit was reissued a year or two ago as the Ed Roth '57 Chevy Bel Air. The kit number is 65-4306. The kit can be built stock but offers a decal set representing Ed Roth's personal car with an extensive set of flames and a stripped roof. The build options include a straight axle to build a gasser. The engine can be built stock or a 6x2 Carb setup or a Super Charger. The box art has a black Bel Air with the flames on it on the cover.

What did you see on the road today?
espo replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would either paint the black parts white, or the white parts black. Or just paint the whole thing some other color. This also looks like it may have been a city PD car since they seem to get the most abuse around here anyway. -
The ‘other’ mag is stopping publication
espo replied to cruz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have noticed many of the Automotive magazines are hard to find in the usual places. I'm under the impression that there is a distribution step between the publishers and the retailers and I wonder if the availability problems my be at that level ? -
Cleaning a Flintstone resin body
espo replied to thatz4u's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I clean all of the resin bodies and parts I work with now using Dawn dish soap. I had a resin body turn to mush on me using Purple Power. In fairness the body was not from Jimmy Flintstone so I'm thinking a different resin compound must have been used as I have enjoyed a couple of his resin bodies before without issues. I fill a sink, any container that will hold water should work, and add the Dawn dish soap with the water at room temperature and allow the body to soak for a good 15 minuets. This may be longer than needed but it works for me. I will swish the body around in the dish water after that time and then rinse with cold water. I use an air brush to dry but again that would be optional. After this you will feel the difference to the touch after cleaning and the Dawn seems to get into all of the crevices and leaves no residue. -
I'll have to give this product a try if they return in the future. I think this could be a lot easier to apply. I see that ugly little white colored Grubb on the label.

Very clean looking interior details. I like how you used the different shades of color to detail the chassis.

The addition of a windshield perhaps?

I like how you changed the rear tail light panel around. You mention the console not being accurate and I can see the area between the shifter and where it would meet the dash is off. Are you going to build this as a 4 speed or automatic transmission car ? Your picture shows a 4 speed car and I realize this may just be for a reference. The kits console is for an automatic transmission that could easily be changed. The kits dash board should have a section that drops down to meet the console and hopefully that detail will match the console. Fords body design on this car was unusual at the time but I always liked it and it sure helped them out in NASCAR competition.

I like the looks of this. I wonder if you couldn't do something like that but use a more normal size kit tire. Glue the outer faces of one tire on either side of the regular tire to make a 50 or 40 series tire .

Now that you mention it I'm not familiar with any spray products for Grubbs. This may be a commercial grade product and if may be better. I have used a Scotts granular product and spread it with my drop spreader. Watering your lawn or a light rain after words breaks it down into a poison for the little white rolly polly type Grubb insects living just below the grass routs. I wouldn't mind sitting on my porch with an adult beverage or two and watch the show as they die, but all that happens in the quiet dark area below the grass.

Got Tamiya TS Spray blown to my eyes, should I worry about it?
espo replied to 花火's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Might see if you can find a large card board box to use as a spray booth. I did that for years before getting a dedicated spray booth. this should cut down on wind issues in the future. For now buy some cheep safety glasses and a mask when painting just in case. -
1975 Datsun Pickup
espo replied to StanGlover's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great looking little pickup. The exterior finish sure looks like a very flat Black rather than a Blue in the pictures. Nice interior and the wheels look good on this. -

Great job correcting the hood on this. -
Beautiful looking build. That color really pops.

Nice clean looking redo. Perfect color for this model.

Beautiful looking SS. I like the paint finish, it seems to have a little more sparkel to it than most you see painted this color. Interesting interior finish. Light sprinkling of white paint ?

I had wondered what had happened to this build. Great looking color. I saw a newer Mazda in a parking lot the other day and the color looked like the one you're using. In the sun it really showed the cars body lines and was a very deep looking color.

That's a '64 Pontiac Safari. I like the stance on this one. -
Toning down kit chrome - I remember an article ?
espo replied to Goodwrench3's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Great looking '57. Your picture really shows what I was trying to explain. You don't really see the smoke so much as it accents the chrome and the different parts of the bumper and grill assembly. -
It's a great kit and has a real nice Arden overhead valve option as well.
