  1. You might want to look around locally at any Model Shops or Hobby Lobby in your area. The '55 two door has been reissued by Round 2 a few times and one of those reissues are bond to turn up on someone's shelf. Round 2 and AMT both called it a Bel Air but the only exterior difference would be the chrome trim on the side of the front fender and door. The interior differences are so minor as to go undetected. The only standout would be the Dash Board. The Bel Air had a Dash Board center piece of polished aluminum with Chevrolet emblems on it. The 210 would have that area painted white.
  2. The better part of my life, over 30 + years, where spent in California. As I grew up life had me moving back and forth between California and Illinois. When I was old enough to make my own decisions I returned to California and I always enjoyed the life style that you described. I was fortunate to have lived in both southern and northern parts of the state. They are as different as living in another state and should have been divided years ago, but that was voted down. Like you I finally had enough of everything. No other place is perfect, but don't rule out leaving. There was a saying when we left in the summer of '96. "Last tax payer out turn off the lights". I think that better describes what is going on now than when we left. Now let the hate mail begin.
  3. Very cool looking Yanko. Now in the back ground I see that '58 Impala Convertible that I voted for. When can we see that one ?

Your build and the pictures are hard to tell apart. I'd say you nailed it. I like all of the interior paneling that you did to bad it will hardly be seen.
  5. Looks like you're gathering all the good parts for your build. This will have a big lift kit to clear those tires.
  6. I like your idea on this. I also have an appreciation for the '39 - '40 Fords. Color can be as personal as what type of wheels to use. Are you going with a commercial theme or a street rod ? I know I'll follow this build.
  7. Plastruct Plastic Weld is a plastic solvent cement. I personally prefer Zap-A-Gap medium CA+ but there are many other glues that might work just as well.
  8. Cost is close enough to the real thing I don't think I would bother with it.
  9. The Peanuts Ford was the first so called funny car I remember seeing. I was at a rather sad track in SoCal called Fontana based on its being in Fontana Ca. As I recall the car was pretty much all steal. The car appeared to be a full bodied 4 door with the engine where the dash board would be and the driver was in the back seat. I don't remember any ET's or speed but it was fun to watch.
  10. I like your Nova idea.
  11. With "Hunting Vehicles" like these there isn't a single small woodland creature safe out there.
  12. Sorry I can't see either and I don't care to join Face Book.
  13. Your build turned out very nice despite your being reluctant to build it. I built one years ago when they first offered this kit. The only real problem I encountered was with the wheel backs. They put the wheel and tires to far out side of the wheel well.
  14. "Unordinary", I think you're well on your way with this. I will enjoy this build.
  15. Check in the After Market Directory. There are a few casters that specialize in Mopar part there.
  16. Your Bel Air looks great. Considering how long ago AMT tooled this kit it turned out really great. The dust thing is a pain no matter what scale you're working with. Try owning a 1:1 car, any car in black. I swear I'll never own another one.

I remember visiting San Diego many years ago while living in California. There was a spot just north of there along Hwy 101 when one of these, the roofs where gray at that time, would pull of the Hwy and the hill side would suddenly explode with people jumping out of the tall grass and running over the top of the hill. This would have been in the late '60's and early '70's. By the way your build looks great also.
  18. I agree on the carpeting. Can you share what brand or type of tape you used, I would like to try that myself.
  19. The local Hobby Lobby seems to stock this super glitter colors in their model section. If this is the same paint it would require a LOT of clear coat to cover. Looking at the cap on the spray can that is supposed to represent the product inside it is a very rough texture.
  20. Great looking setup. I like how you extended the rear making it a carrier. This looks like something a Citroen Dealer may use for a shop truck.
  21. To make the '49 Club Coupe into a '50 model all you need is the grill from the convertible kit and create the rear license plate cover. I have done the rear license plate cover on a few builds since I like the looks of it better. The '49 year model Trunk handle was little more than that, a handle. On the 1:1 the key lock is on the right side of the handle. When unlocked the right side handle lifts up to open the trunk. On the '50 year model Ford replaced the handle setup with a body part that contained the light for the license plate and the chrome strip on the edge has the key lock in it. After unlocking the trunk the latch handle is just to the right of center underneath. The reason for the additional information is only to help you know what all this was for. I have found that working on a model of a 1:1 car that I'm not familiar some of these details are hard to understand. IF you're really going for the dead on stock look there are a few easily missed details. The '50 had a Ford crest instead of the FORD lettering at the center of the hood. The hood ornament has the clear plastic at the top ending just before the 90 degree angle to the hood while the '49 extends further and is angled forward. The '50 kit has the correct shape so that would be the solution on that. I hope this will help you with your '50 Ford build.
  22. Panther Pink is a bold color for any Mopar. They wear it well. Nice save on this, I have never seen a Charger Promos before.
  23. Very nice, any additional pictures ?
  24. I have to agree with the other fans of the Square C-10 Chevy's. I admit a personal preference since I have owned both a '74 and a '79 short step side. I realize there are those that prefer the Fleetside so maybe they could issue one of each. The grills and some exterior trim are the only real differences between the year models. The interiors, depending on trim level, are almost the same except for the Dash. I'd buy a few of each thank you.
  25. Now that is racing. With some of the Turbo 4's and 6's we see today and front wheel or even AWD systems that could be very interesting and far more relevant than what passes for "Stock Car" racing today.
