Many builders here have had periods of time where building was at the bottom of the list of things to do. Take some time off and enjoy the other things in life that matter to you. When you're ready to do this again you might even think about building something different than your beloved Cobras. Maybe a car you used to own or always thought you would like to own. Maybe a copy of a friends car that you always admired. Now in retirement I always have something I'm working on and it is a very enjoyable pastime.

Very impressive show. Thank you for sharing.

Nice build. What did you use for tires ??

I would love to have another one of these. I'm finishing the Revell Hemi-Hydro right now and I would enjoy building one of these behind an old Woody Wagon of some sort.

Many years ago I bought a '57 Ford Fairlane 500 convert. from the original owners. It was about 6 years old at the time. It needed a little body work as the wife used to use the braille method to get in and out of the garage. I redid the body and repainted it the original white with a new white top. Chrome rims and 30 in. glass packs. I sold it a couple of years later to a guy I knew. Within two weeks he rolled it. Unfortunately he was not injured. I also had a '74 Chevrolet short step side pick up that was in Truck'n Magazine in '75. When I sold it the couple started to use it to haul their horse trailer, so you know how that ended. Some people just don't appreciate really nice cars.

Nice clean looking build.

Perfect race car hauler. -
I think that's a great idea. The first cars most of us had were well used and had been driven hard. But we loved them anyway. FREDOM is mine !!

Old Kits: To Build / Rebuild or Not
espo replied to gwolf's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I would agree with you when looking for something that wouldn't otherwise be available. What I meant was a readily available kit that was complete and priced the same as a glue bomb with a glue damaged body and interior that needed a complete overhaul and most likely has some parts missing. -
gauge lenses over decals - epoxy or Testors clear cement
espo replied to dlh's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Usually the gauges on a models dash has a raised molding into which the decal is set. I'll do any detailing of the surrounding area before I set the decals. After the decals have dried, usually over night, I'll then use which every product to basically fill the gauge face and then allow to dry. The reason I prefer the Future product is that it will tend to dip toward the center of the gauge after drying. This gives the illusion of a curved gauge face. Like the many other products mentioned here it also keeps the decal in place for many years since the decals will often not fully bond to say a chromed surface. -
gauge lenses over decals - epoxy or Testors clear cement

I have used just two different products. #1 Tamiya clear and #2 Future. I find myself using future more and more now. The Future is a little "thinner" and flows a little better. I also use it for head light lenses and tail light lenses also. -
Old Kits: To Build / Rebuild or Not
espo replied to gwolf's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have several original issue kits from 40 to 50 years ago. For me these will not be built, especially if they have been reissued as I would build those. I don't often rebuild a kit that is on display. I'm still trying to understand why someone would buy a glue bomb at a swap meet when a complete unbuilt kit is sitting there for the same price. -
The "Diamond Patterned" seats were never to my liking, but the "Recaro " seats are great for a later custom interior. You can see in the bagged picture at least one front Recaro. No way of knowing if the back seat is present. On the bottom of the box it shows the clear red parts and the Edsel tail light lenses are there. With a little creative body work you could make the flares that were part of those tail lights. We could hope the parts are in the kit, but if not at least the lenses are there.

Looks great. I got to ask, how much was in the kit and how much did you gather elsewhere ??

Great job on the body conversion. I thought it was a resin body at first. Nice "theme" build.
-
Great patriotic paint job. The chassis detailing looks like a show car that has been driven a little. A little road grime in the small places of the chassis.

"Your" Hot Rod is just the way I would want a 1:1 Ford. Great black paint job.
-
Interesting kit. Which body are your going to use ??
-
You are correct on the condition of this glue bomb. That thing is rougher than a night in jail. With all of the body issues it would be best to go with a rusty driver or an abandoned type build.

The paint looks great and the engine is well detailed. Always liked the gen 2 Camaros.

1970 Torino Cobra hood

I don't know of any but you may have a better chance of finding one on the WANTED section on the Forum. -
Look forward to how your build turns out. How is the other Ford coming ??

Looks very shot as far as a possible rebuild. I don't think even "Grave Yard Cars" on Velocity could bring this one back.
-
Very nice looking build, especially the paint. Very creative why to accomplish your color.

Snake Bite Monster Truck
espo replied to Blackkat13's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I don't know a lot about Monster Trucks, but it is plan to see you put a lot of work and effort into this build. I like the paint treatment. Again not knowing that much about the subject, are the directional treaded tires going in the correct direction ??- 5 replies
