  1. Very realistic looking. All the sponsor decals are hard to do on the body and wing. Wing as in the top mounted Air Foil not a fender. You got the color on the headers perfectly.
  2. Always enjoy your Ford builds. Your extra effort on the panel lines will payoff when you're done. Is it going to be a Crown Victoria or a straight Victoria ?
  3. Great looking conversion. I agree with others that you don't usually see the little Chevy II being used. I have only done a very few such body Mods and agree it can become difficult. The only suggestion I might offer has to do with the rear window opening. As it is right now from the picture it looks like the opening will be to tall for the El Camino rear window. If this is the case you might try and use the window surround from the El Camino. You could also create a lower and upper molding or body panel to close the gap. I would try to stay with the El Camino kits window in any case. The tail gate looks perfect as is. I like the polished Ansen type wheels, very sixties.

  5. I'm glad that something came together for you. Good jobs aren't as plentiful as some would want us to think. You and the Mrs.'s should go have a nice dinner out to celebrate.
  6. Looked at the drawing and it looked fine at first. Then I noticed something funny with the Hexnut, and then I looked at the Support and then about the time looked at the Bracket my eyes crossed.
  7. A lot of great looking paint techniques, I like the Flip Flop paint on the body.

  11. Got a mailer from Michaels a couple weeks ago for 50% off starting 7/15. Went and checked yesterday to see if they had anything that I couldn't live without. Same O Same O, they're even higher priced than Hobby Lobby and everything had been on the market for months. Went by my favorite Hobby Shop and got the new '66 Suburban. In the end I may have paid about $10 more now than what I would have paid with the Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon and I didn't have to wait six months for them to get it.
  12. After watching your "62 Chrysler build I'm looking forward to this. While this body style didn't appeal to me at the time I think they look much better now. Did this start life as a Hardtop ? I think the three tail light thing had to do with the trim level at that time. The higher up and usually if the optional back-up lights were ordered would give you the three lights.
  13. I always thought the HHR was an interesting vehicle, but only after they started offering the "Van" body and the ones with various side window options. You mentioned that the body does not match up with the HHR kit, makes you wonder what the caster used as a base. I don't remember any Die Cast of the HHR but there may have been. Maybe even a Piggy Bank ?? As far as suggestions go I'm sure you will get many, but you might look at the images on the internet and see what appeals to you. You may have to create your own windshield if the HHR's kit does not fit. Headlights may have to be hand painted or if the kit has a decal ?? Maybe even a NASCAR kit decal would work. For myself I would keep it asa a Van but more of a personal use rather than commercial. I'll be interested not matter what you do with it.
  14. Your conversion looks perfect. I worked with a gut years ago who had a '68 short bed with same factory colors, his factory blue didn't have any metallic in the paint. I like how you made your own trim moldings.

  18. Beautiful build. I like the little details that often get overlooked, the chrome trim around the tail light lenses for instance. The stance is just right.
  19. Just like everyone else I think your build is perfect. You mentioned changing styles as to the engine room colors, your build represents real parts in the color that they are usually found on a 1:1 car. This happens to be one of the reasons I personally like what you did. Like many others have offered if you want to do it differently I'll send you a brand new untouched GTX kit for this one. This one is just to nice to mess with.
  20. Your friend should enjoy your build, it looks great. The grill area doesn't look quite right to me, but I'm no expert on these cars. I do like the oversized Mini Light type wheels. I got to drive a 1:1 for a short distance, it had the 2.8 liter and a manual, a very impressive car.

    Great looking build. I like how you blended the three different colors on the interior. Outstanding paint color and finish.
  22. Another method to consider. I use abroad soft paint brush as this allows you to move around the decal as needed and is easier the straighten a decal if it folds over. Solvaset makes a couple of great products, you might try putting just a dab of water or solutions on the body before applying the decal. Also the brush can be easier to work out bubbles and aid the decal to settle down over body contours. When the decal is positioned were you want it you can use a small piece of paper towel to draw off any excess fluids. If you have any old decals that you don't plan to use just experiment on a plastic spoon and see what works best for you. If you don't already you should have picnic spoons handy anytime you want to try something new or different.
  23. I like the mesh you added to the grill. Are you planning on front bumper or a roll pan ? The leading edge of the hood on this model always stood a little "proud". If you are thinking of changing it you might do something like the Foose truck but not quite as radical.
  24. I like your conversion and thank you for the idea. For myself I just never cared for the hood design. I think GM was trying to tie it to the '59 Impala of the time.
