Dave Ambrose Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 As many of you know, Gregg has had chronic back and neck pain for more than a few years. He had surgery number 8 on Jan 4th to test-implant a spinal stimulator to relieve his pain without drugs. That test worked well, and while they had to remove the temporary unit, he goes in for a permanent implant on February 19th. Overall, I think this warrants cautious optimism. In the meantime, he's working on the next MCM issue, which will be the special contest issue. It will go to all the subscribers when mailed. I'll keep you all posted as I get information. Thanks for being patient.
RancheroSteve Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Thanks for the update - wishing him the best.
David G. Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Thanks for the update Dave. It's good to know that things are moving in a good direction for Gregg. David G.

Snake45 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 +1 to all of the above. Good luck and God Bless, Gregg!
Ramfins59 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Dave, thank you for the update info on Gregg. Fingers and toes crossed that this latest procedure will be the one that finally works for him.
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Thanks for the update. Having had sciatic issues 20 years ago I can relate to his pain issues. My prayers that this procedure works and Gregg has a speedy recovery.
chepp Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Gregg, may you have a speedy and pain-free recovery. I admire you for all that you have done for the magazine and for persevering despite many obstacles.
Brutalform Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Gregg, get well soon. I hope the stimulation device works for you. I recently had that option, that I decided not to test it. I’ve had decompression surgery, and radio frequency nerve burns, and too many injections to count. It’s not fun living in pain. Also a big thanks to you for your help in keeping this hobby what it is.
1930fordpickup Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Thank you for the update. Get well soon Gregg.
Classicgas Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 I get back pain, having a herniated disc and degenerative disc disease myself. Prayers go out for something to work for him.
crazyjim Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Hope the procedure works. Back pain is no fun. Thoughts and prayers going to Gregg,
slusher Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 I hope the next operation is successful and his last. Will keep hip in my thoughts...
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I sincerely hope it works. I've had back problems intermittently for many years, and though never on the scale of Gregg's, it's no way to live, and sometimes makes it a major accomplishment to just get through a day.
Bobdude Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Thanks for the update,Dave. Hopefully,Gregg won't have to go under the knife again after Feb. Maybe he will get some relief from the latest procedure.
High octane Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I wish Gregg well in the future as I know that he has been down a rough road.
Scott Colmer Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Wishing you well, and a speedy recovery, Gregg. Scott
redneckrigger Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Gregg, hope that stimulator works well for you. I have had two versions of that, the first one about 15 years ago, and then an updated one about 9 years ago. It is pretty much worn out now, the battery won't hold a charge. But, it worked GREAT, and I am just waiting for the insurance company to get off their duff to approve another update. Good luck sir! Pain sucks!
charlie Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 I know what Gregg is going though. I've three shoulder surgery in 14 months. for a torn rortoar cup
TonyK Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 My wife has back issues that limit her mobility and is in constant pain that sometimes goes to a hip or leg. 2 operations, physical therapy and numerous other attempts at making things better and right now the stimulator has been suggested. I relay Gregg's problems to her and we both realize how bad he must feel. Just keep waiting for him to have a miraculous "fix" to all this and he can enjoy life a little more.
Pro Tech Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Thanks Dave for the update. Gregg, I wish you all the best. I hope everything works out for you. Maybe one day we can meet in person, I would look forward to that. Charlie Pro Tech
