bogger44 Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 This is a project I've been wanting to build for a long time, and finally got around to it. Recently finished this weekend, I may still add a side mirror down the road if I come across one I like. First thing I did was ditch the promo-style chassis in favor of the chassis & drivetrain from the AMT '60 Starliner. I fit pretty well, with just some minor trimming and adjustments needed. I used some parts box leaf springs and front spindles to raise it up some for that cool street machine stance from back in the day. Competition Resins Teardrop, AMT parts pack mags & tires. There's numerous other parts box pieces sprinkled around as well, exhaust, shocks, traction bars, tach, shifter & console. For the interior I did cut out the floor from the Marauder tub and used the Starliner's floor. Those long chrome strips along the fendertops really gave me grief and I'm not real happy with them but I can accept them as they are. Paints are Duplicolor Polar White and for the interior it's Rustoleum Regal Red. Thanks for taking a gander and any comments/questions. 5
EngineerBob Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 Great looking model. You captured the '60s street machine vibe perfectly.
Hi-Po Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 Nicely done! The stance of the car and the tear drop hood are perfect. Great job on the paint, also. I like it.
espo Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 Great looking Merc. I like your putting the '60 Ford chassis under this. Any FoMoCo product that is the least bit Drag oriented has to have the Tear Drop Hood.
Zippi Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 Really nice looking old school muscle car. Nice work.
Bob Ellis Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 This is a beautiful build of my favorite year Mercury
TransAmMike Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 Very cool and great build Tony. Love big muscle?
bisc63 Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 This does so much just right! Beautiful, realistic appearance. Well done!
David G. Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 Beautifully done! It could easily pass for 1:1. David G.
slusher Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 Outstanding build Tony, very detailed and clean my buddy!
Casey Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 Very clean build of a somewhat simplified kit. Well done.
Painted Black Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 I had to go get a rag to wipe the drool off my face, THAT IS AWESOME!!
Mike F. Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 Nice! Very clean. I'm gonna have to look for this kit.
carbuilder1950 Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 @bogger44 Boy is that a '60's racer. Brings back a lot of great memories Reminds of my weekends at Irwindale Raceway, and Riverside Raceway, and a few others in SoCal. Those were the days.
