For me, probably this one:

PC185445.JPG.204d1bdbfd23a90e138a8c98cbbe0739.JPG

Random purchase some years ago off eBay here in the UK. Never seen one here before or since.

Whenever I've looked more recently any others I can find for sale are a 3-figure sum. Only one I could see right now is in the USA at $200, and others in Japan in the past were more than that.

It's now one of the few unbuilt kits that lives in the house, not the garage.

Wow!  I've never seen this kit.  It is actually very cute! Are those price you quoted for sold kits, or asking prices with no takers?

Just asking price. Pretty sure I saw others for sale in Japan for even more.

This is it compared to a normal 1/24 Skyline:

Width approximately similar, but shorter and obviously a lot taller!

Haven't discounted the fact I might build it someday, but there are plenty of others ahead of it in the queue.....

I don’t think this is terribly rare, but the closest I have.

I have the 356A Speedster, the Fujimi version.  I never saw the BMW Alpina turbo E.S. before, so I *had to* get it.  I never saw an Austin Healey before either, but that doesn't mean it's rare.

I'm digging seeing all the really rare, and old kits in this topic!

Of my styrene kits my most valuable is this 1/9 Protar bike kit (got it from my brother for my 60th birthday) - try to find one on ebay !

and the rarest ones are certainly these from the late 60'/early 70's:

Rarest resin kits: John F. Johnson's Ferrari 246 SP and 5 kits from Paul Fisher (Chaparral 2 F, Ferrari 512 S longtail and Sunoco 512 M, Porsche 917 "Hippie" longtail and 917/20 "Pink Pig")

I saw the Nakamura version on an obscure site, decided not to because their C-111 is horrid.  Think it's the same mold?

As soon as I graduated 8th grade in '74, I took part of my graduation loot and went to Jack's Hobby Shop and bought the complete eight kit set for around 48 bucks. I asked Mrs. Jack to put them on the side so nobody would grab them. I never had to build any of them. My mother gave ALL of my modeling stuff to the little kid from down the block after I left for the Army in '79.

You've done a duty of the greatest appreciation for which I'm Thankful!   And paid a price I wish I could repay!  THX Joe!

These. The Transtar is an original Ertl kit. The Indian can be had, but it's not super common. The Aurora engines. Well...

I actually found one of those Transtar kits in a thrift store recently.  Box was a little rough but the parts are still in bags.  I’m not a big rig guy but I couldn’t pass it up.  Might build it with a car hauler someday…

Hi, Lee!  I was just reading this thread for the first time when I ran across your post.  That is my Stutz Black Hawk ?.  Not wanting to hijack this thread but if you would like to see more of it, there are WIP and Under Glass threads on it.  It is a great kit and I really enjoyed building it.  The model has done well in contests and has been the banner picture for UpScale Hobbies Model Builders FB group for the last couple of years.

My Marzal kit is from Bandai (1/20 scale) - the Abarth 2000 Pinifarina Protoype is from Nakamura (while interior/drivetrain/tires are complete junk, wheels and body look workable to me). Both need a lot of TLC to look presentable...
